      I've got to agree.
      When I was a kid, I thought bully was excellent.
      Looking back at the re-runs, I laugh my head off at the prizes. I also realise that Jim B was the best host ever.
      My kids dont see it, but I do. He had a great sense of humour and timing.

      I know that they weren't to know but they risked and lost for a holiday. After a fortnight holiday they would only have had the physical prizes that they gambled anyway as a momento of their time on the show. I've always thought that a holiday as a quiz show prize isn't as good as physical prizes. After the holiday is over all you are left with are memories.

    Thank you so much for posting this... I've been looking for it for years! Don was my uncle (sadly he died of leukemia about 12 years ago). I've downloaded this and I'll be posting it on Facebook for his wife and daughters to see - I was going to link straight to this page, but there are far too many negative, ignorant comments which I don't want them to see. Thank you again... form all the McIntyre family! :-)

    • @MrGazMac
      @MrGazMac  3 роки тому +1

      Exactly. £100 worth of books. £100 in 1986 is the equivalent of £294 today and that's just one prize. They'd already got £800+ cash as well. Worth about £2,300 today. Not bad for a teatime gameshow. Add all the other prizes, factor in inflation, plus 2 villas in Corfu for 2 weeks and you're talking about a serious chunk of money all in.

    Anywhere on the left of the board would've been enough! 16,8,11,14,9,12. Fuck going for treble 20 like some sort of hero.

      i know. i see Bullseye players do this ALL the time.
      They need 20 with three darts and end up scoring 7, when all they had to do was aim for 16,8,11,14,9,12 to guarantee the 20 points
      Can't believe how many Bullseye player lost by aiming for the treble 20 unnecessarily

      They overthought it. Instead of playing for the big scores the second dart player should’ve just randomly thrown at the board

    what a sickner! if you read the history they gave away more speed boats with winners than any other prize. if you lost it was the car, holiday etc etc.. they bought a job lot of speed boats is the reason.

    I remember seeing this when it first aired. It served these guys right for being greedy. Had BFH (Bus Fare Home) been in force then, it would have been doubly painful for them.
    As it was, there was no sympathy for these two in my house that night.

    • @davidspear9790

      The fact they were guaranteed £890 from the first two rounds was a big factor in their decision to gamble the prizes. Normally the winners would only win half of that. Clearly they were after the cash, not the prizes, and would have probably sold the prizes for cash value. Good job the star prize was a holiday that wouldn't be transferable.
