My routine has been very important and much the same for years. We joke it's a California French routine. Similar like yours. The only differences would be I pull the top bedding back to allow the bed to air out when I get up, then I get on the treadmill for five miles, then shower, eat a light breakfast, then make the bed. Owning less stuff also helps. Am amazed at how much stuff Americans own. Come evening we sit down to eat which takes an hour. This has been a priority of ours for years. After dinner I do another five miles on the treadmill, take a quick shower, then do some reading, answer correspondence . At 9:45pm I open the bedroom window (we sleep in a cool room), go brush and floss teeth. Am in bed by 10pm. NO electronic stuff i.e. tv, cell phone, iPad in the bedroom. Also believe in a good mattress and bed linens. On a side note cleaning, doing laundry, preparing meals is something all members of the family have always done. Not just me.

Thank you Kat, this was really interesting and helpful! You are my favorite Flylady mentor, and your voice always calms my anxiety attacks while trying to integrate the programme and routines into my home life. Have a great day!

Doing the laundry is what you do when the dryers done. Wish somebody had told me that sooner! I'm playing catch up on mountains of clean clothes in my room, next to my empty dressers. For years I've been living like that. In my decluttering process I'm thinning out unnecessary clothing as I'm folding and putting away so this process right now I call the "fold or fling".

I'm at the stage where I'm saying "what happened". We are a fam of 4 and I currently stay home. I am determined to do better. I've completely cleaned up my diet and now I'm ready to clean and maintain my house. Fall break for the kids is next week (perfect timimg). I'm watching your videos and making my plans.

But I saw this and made the effort to do the dishes. Put 1last load of laundry made my husband fold the other portion. And took a long shower... 🥵🥵🥵thanks for this! Now I'm gonna go take a mini nap to prepare for work 😴 😪 🙃 😌

Thank you! Thank you for making these videos available to everyone. I have watched/listened to this video 4x. I need to hear it multiple times for it to sink in and become of part of “my” routines. I have fluttered for a few years, but need the reminders and new explanations, demonstrations and thoughts about “Flying.” Chaos and clutter seem to ebb and flow with my depressive/anxious episodes. I love your detailed steps....sometimes I need that level of instruction when my monkey brain (ping pong balls) takes over! You are a great coach!💐

Morning Kat, I've been slowly watching your videos till I get to the first one. This morning is one of those mornings I'm so great full for you. Not a very restful night, but couldn't sleep in, watching grandkids today. You voice kept telling me get your morning routine done, you can do this. Before I knew it I got up only halfway dressed myself I needed coffee, then I realized as I was drinking my coffee I had unloaded the dishwasher. I thought wow Kat's right I did it without thinking. Gave me the motivation to finish the process of my morning routine. Just need to do bathrooms. Grandkids just arrived they are 6&8. So cup of coffee then I'll do them. Load of laundry is already started. I'm 55 and even though I've been a wife and Mom for 39 years I've learned so much about routines when it comes to my cleaning from you. I've always had a routine for my sons schedule, I never once thought about cleaning routine. 3 years ago when my son got ill and can no longer go to day programs it just totally through me for a loop. Think I'm going to be getting back on track working my routines and his routine (like getting him up, changing, feeding etc) to combine well. I'm still working my way bit by bit with clearing the clutter (it's the only place with it) off my desk. Then I'll work my way shelf by shelf through my hallway cabinets, there's a lot of them. Rearrange so they aren't a huge mess nice and organized, get rid of more stuff as I go. I have a big box my sons diapers come in and I wait till it's full then I call an organization that has a thrift store that supports the disabled. They have a horse ranch that people of all ages can do riding therapy. Been around our area for years, they used to be able to go out to the special ed classes and the kids rode for free. Great organization. Have a beautiful day.

BTW, I had such a great and productive day, that I remembered that it was Wednesday in time to go to church, AND I was already dressed (nicely) to shoes, so I could go!! What a blessing you are to me!!!

I'm curious to know what's your professional or academic background
This video is great, and thanks for reminding us that the laundry is not just throwing clothes in the machine... I just realised my husband does more of the laundry than me! (If we count the folding and sorting)

I’ve been using laundry mesh bags for socks and undergarments, wish I’d done this when i had kids at home. No lost socks, they wash in the bag, and dry in the bag. I have all sizes, I travel with them, dirty clothes are put in a mesh bag, when i get home it’s fast to unpack, the mesh bag, like clothes together so no sorting required, you are unpacked quickly. I travel so much that I keep my luggage packed with toiletries, and once I unpack i restock as needed.

    Hello, again!
Mrs. Kat., you were one of the first people on my mind, this am so I tuned-in to your channel. 😊 I’ve found myself at times wondering “how to just-BE” and, I find that I’ve finally come to a place where I can learn these life lessons, I’ve so longed for. Because of you! I heard you say you mentor; my question is: how do I reach you to learn more about that? Thank you, in advance!

    Kat,
good to see you! When I questioned last week I was concerned about your parents but didn't want to seem to bold to ask. So, I was glad to see in the comments how they (he) is doing.
Your words of wisdom are wonderful! Some I have needed and some I was born with if that is possible. I have always been a neat freak which was fine until hubby and I had kids. I spent several years trying to control things until it started affecting my health. Then some things went to pot until I learned I NEED to teach (not scream) my kids. Then every summer it would seem they needed more teaching again. I guess as soon as summer break started their brains and bodies stopped working! 😂🎓😴💤😕😀
My problem area is PAPER!!! Do you ever teach on paperwork retention? Banking, taxes etc.?
Thanks for your time, God bless and keep you all~
