I have a flat lap but still use my dremel and I use the super glue with baking soda to attach it to a screw and I have little wood handles I screw it into. Then when it’s done I I sand off the cement and put the black stuff on the bottom
I like the look of the sanding discs you use, i havent seen those before. I recently started polishing rocks and woild love to know what tools you would recommend
The tools in this video are what I would recommend actually 😄 here's the link for the diamond grinding bits- www.amazon.com/dp/B07S478P4V?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share and for the sanding discs- www.amazon.com/dp/B07PTBH6Q9?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share Also I always like to remind people that polishing rocks can be really bad for your lungs and overall health if you aren't wearing proper breathing protection. if you want a suggestion on that also just ask ☺️ I love that you're getting into polishing rocks it's been such a fun and rewarding hobby. I've only been doing it for just over a year but I love it so much!
always on low speed! anytime I try to go on high it wears my bits down too fast. I didn't mention it in the video, but that's something I should start mentioning going forward. sorry about that!
thank you so much! the sanding discs- 180 Pieces 1 Inch Sanding Disc,... www.amazon.com/dp/B07PTBH6Q9?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share the grinding wheels- 20Pcs Diamond Grinding Bits, 10mm... www.amazon.com/dp/B07S478P4V?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Man, how can I find these tools for polishing? It’s diamond, right? I have one u used for grinding, but now looking for a good way to polish the obsidian. Wheels with polishing paste work pretty bad(
yes the drum I use for shaping is a diamond drum here's the Amazon link- www.amazon.com/dp/B07S478P4V?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share and then for polishing I use these- www.amazon.com/dp/B07PTBH6Q9?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share i dont use a paste i just wet sand and rinse often. after I go through all the sanding discs, I let it dry and then rub in some mineral oil with jean fabric and let it dry and that's it! they stay shiny 😊
only using a little water. I dip the stone to rinse it. no I'm not worried about electrocution! I keep my dremel in my right hand and the stone in my left.
@the broadhouse what bits are you using all the way to polishing point & then what are you using for polishing including the compound? The video is vague & leaves people guessing.

That's very creative! Does the baking soda prevent the glue from sticking too bad?
@the broadhouse baking soda makes the glue bond better and instantly.
thank you ☺️
What are the wood handles for¿

always on low speed! anytime I try to go on high it wears my bits down too fast. I didn't mention it in the video, but that's something I should start mentioning going forward. sorry about that!

Ona a petoskey stone that size, how many discs would you estimate it would take to polish? Petoskeys are pretty soft.
you probably wouldn't use up any of the discs. but at the most, one disc per stage.

Are you only using a little water? Any worry about electrocution?
only using a little water. I dip the stone to rinse it. no I'm not worried about electrocution! I keep my dremel in my right hand and the stone in my left.
What does the mineral oil do?
it gives the stone a shiny/wet look
What gloves do you use?
leather in this video but now I prefer nitrile
Can you do faceting with just dremel?
I just try for straight sides but I'm sure someone more experienced could do something more intricate! I'm still a beginner
@@thebroadhouse thanks.
@@hotheadsniper no problem!
