I’m a travel nurse, I got my car stuck in the snow during an assignment. While waiting for a tow truck some police officers confronted me. They asked me to do a sobriety test… when the female officer demonstrated, she was slipping and sliding in the snow. I laughed out loud and said, you want me to do something she can’t even do ? And she has sneakers on ! I have high heeled boots on?! They immediately arrested me and charged me with a dui, took me to jail. I had recorded the entire encounter on my smart phone luckily. It took two years and $7k to get the dismissed accusation expunged off of my record. It also cost me a lot of jobs that I wanted because while being a pending case it would show up on my background check. I am not a fan of cops ever since!
That's unfortunate, I hope you were compensated heavily for those two years. And the police officer in charge loses there job. Yeah loses, because they fucked up and should be held responsible.

And if they did they were suspended with pay until this blew over at which point they were reinstated. Happens literally all the time unfortunately.

We wouldn't be allowed out in public together. I was in a Tom Wahl's with my friend, and a sheriff stood in the line beside us. (Had to go back and edit this because I was stoned when I originally wrote it, and I'm stoned now and reading your comment! LOL!) I could not stop laughing and had to go sit down. The cop just nodded and sat as far away from us as possible.

I personally have had my vehicle searched & every sobriety test they could throw & still drove off after an hr of test. It’s worth mentioning something important here. Police are trained to interpret behaviour based on norms that apply to neurotypical people. Those who are neurodivergent will likely automatically engender suspicion because what police look for as Tells in neurotypical people are often ordinary, unconscious, and broadly normal behaviours in neurodivergent people. This would lead to systemic unconscious bias against, for instance, autistic and ADHD people on nearly any occasion regardless of actual culpability regarding why the police might be speaking to them.
Also to mention these people know they aren't going to jail or anything bad is going to happen. When people get pulled over, even neurotical people may have chronic anxiety cause the police can determine the rest of your entire life at that moment. Not saying people aren't responsible for their actions and shouldn't think about them before they do them, but the police being just the police especially in the USA is enough to scare anybody at any time.
I agree fully. I have Parkinson’s Disease and I’m 37 (and look younger than that, I shake, have slurred speech at times, have twisting motions of my torso because of medications, etc. I fear for the day that one of these goobers pulls me over and starts going over all this crap.

I get natural cotton mouth when I have too much anxiety. I also act like my high self when in extreme anxiety mode so I feel like most cops would think something is up even if there wasn’t. 😂 I was also raised to dislike and distrust police so that really doesn’t help when I’m trying to avoid eye contact and get flustered. There is more to things they look for than that, but my anxiety is gonna get me into trouble one of these days when/if they are checking for those things 😂
The thing about being high is that it actually makes me more relaxed since I do have tremors and and horrible anxiety. So that leg test I would have mastered. It actually helps me with my balance and helps me stop being a spaz so to speak
Which is why these drugs need to be recommended by a DOCTOR. Not self-prescribed. Otherwise, people who don’t actually need it are relying on drugs to avoid reality and not deal with personal issues that can be resolved by lifestyle changes and therapy, not actual mental/physical disorders.
The thing about some of those strategies he used is that there's a lot of things that can make someone appear to be intoxicated. Adhd have dodgy eyes, terrible balance, and social insecurities that can cause paranoid like anxiety.
But that's why they check things like the tongue and other physical tells. They ain't gonna arrest you just cuz u bugging out from anxiety lmao (stated by someone with horrible anxiety)

My uncle was a cop for twenty years and he will agree that most cops, especially younger ones, can be very touchy. His advice is that you be respectful, keep eye contact as often as possible, and never make any big decisions without asking for your lawyer first.

Usually breaking the order, like calling them out not in the way they expected it, can make people nervous and make it easier for the officer to get signals from them being high. I once was arrested as a teenager for something I did after eating a full prescription of Xanax. I was clearly stumbling around and slurring my words at the time. The police later claimed they didn’t know I was intoxicated just “thought I was weird or something.” If they train these cops to spot people who are intoxicated they clearly need some better training methods

Police are trained to interpret behaviour based on norms that apply to neurotypical people. Those who are neurodivergent will likely automatically engender suspicion because what police look for as Tells in neurotypical people are often ordinary, unconscious, and broadly normal behaviours in neurodivergent people. This would lead to systemic unconscious bias against, for instance, autistic and ADHD people on nearly any occasion regardless of actual culpability regarding why the police might be speaking to them.
Also to mention these people know they aren't going to jail or anything bad is going to happen. When people get pulled over, even neurotical people may have chronic anxiety cause the police can determine the rest of your entire life at that moment. Not saying people aren't responsible for their actions and shouldn't think about them before they do them, but the police being just the police especially in the USA is enough to scare anybody at any time.

I agree fully. I have Parkinson’s Disease and I’m 37 (and look younger than that, I shake, have slurred speech at times, have twisting motions of my torso because of medications, etc. I fear for the day that one of these goobers pulls me over and starts going over all this crap.

I worked in the Emergency Room for many, many years. I think I can tell when someone is high better than a cop. I made people high, legally.

The thing about some of those strategies he used is that there's a lot of things that can make someone appear to be intoxicated. Adhd have dodgy eyes, terrible balance, and social insecurities that can cause paranoid like anxiety.

i have balance problems but cops can usually tell why you’re having balance problems. i got pulled over the other day for the first time and i had to do a field sobriety test & a breathalyzer is what kept me from being arrested

My uncle was a cop for twenty years and he will agree that most cops, especially younger ones, can be very touchy. His advice is that you be respectful, keep eye contact as often as possible, and never make any big decisions without asking for your lawyer first.

For the people saying he went for the black people first. Usually breaking the order, like calling them out not in the way they expected it, can make people nervous and make it easier for the officer to get signals from them being high. Nervousness is usually a sign of culpability.

I once was arrested as a teenager for something I did after eating a full prescription of Xanax. I was clearly stumbling around and slurring my words at the time. The police later claimed they didn’t know I was intoxicated just “thought I was weird or something.” If they train these cops to spot people who are intoxicated they clearly need some better training methods
