Excellent. Reminds me of a day when I was hitting the ball really badly on the range when I overheard the pro teaching someone. He said "the number one essential in all full golf shots is that the left shoulder goes down and behind the ball at the top of the backswing'". He fixed me too!

Guilty of all of these flaws! 70 degree shoulder turn in the backswing, standing up in the backswing, chin on left shoulder through the downswing, stuck in the middle at impact and chicken-winged left elbow in the follow-through!
Playing off 9 now and have been as low as 6! How was my rhetorical question to you before? Pretty good hand-eye coordination, athletic and excellent putter! To score in the low 80's or mid to high 70's required considerable concentration and meant a major and painful headache after the game! And all could potentially become undone on one or two hole during the round! Do well on courses I know and which are open and straight in front of one! Hate links and windy conditions! I remember shooting 72 one time and I had a debilitating migraine after the round! The game has not been fun, but I love it!
I say all of the above to say this, I am aware and have prior to lockdown begun to put many of your methods into practice, but via constant expert one on one coaching! Moving from 14 to 9 in just over a year!
However, stumbling upon your videos have tied together the pieces of the puzzle the coach has been teaching! I would do what was said but I just couldn't comprehend why! So I have kept my mouth shut and contemplated my exit from the game!
The manner in which you explain the concepts is special indeed! Because it is only now, after coming upon your site 6 or 7 weeks ago that everything ties together, with flaws laid bare and corrections not only made available but achievable through simple drills! After lockdown, I think I'm going low! Believe that!
I have been playing for many, many, many years and have thought of giving up the game on a number of occasions but you have re-inspired me! Was just about to take up snooker and accept playing off of a headache free 15 hcp! But few of my mates would play with me, off that!
I just think, if only I understood this earlier! There are many a talented guru out there doing massive views! Some more talented that others but all with something to offer! But I wish there were a way for greater numbers of those seeking answers to find your channel! Golf could become enjoyable! Because when I go to my numerous expert lessons, I see the pain and the despair!
I shall certainly be doing what I can to spread the word according to 'Troy'! Well at least where to find it!
My most humble apologies for the length and convoluted manner of my "comment"! Hopefully, you have a social media person who answers these comments, so it wouldn't have had to be such a pain to read through! Suffice to say I think you are BRILLIANT!

this left and right shoulder position movement. has been great for me. i havent even tried to apply it yet but instantly recognize that my main problem these last 20 years in the shoulder positioning . even when havign lessons this was never explained to me. i cant wait to completely transform my swing. i havent played for a good while until recently. and didnt feel comfortable or as flexible as i was. but i know that once the correct shoulder positions are applied i will be bombing the ball further than i ever have.

I was struggling with my driver and iron consistency either leaving the face open at impact or pull hooking the ball trying to close the face. I was driving my left shoulder up just as you said that armatures were doing. Tried to flatten my shoulder on the downswing an amazing, things straightened out. No more open club face at impact. I am now trying not to close the face so hard at impact. I have gotten into a bad habit trying so hard to close the face. But all in all things are better. Still not hitting up on the driver but it too is better. Anywhere from -1 to 0.0. Would like to get to +1 or +2. Your video was spot on and confirmed my problem.

When drilling into this using the Hudl app comparing my swing to Chez R , his shoulder definitely went lower in backswing then moved more horizontal to the ground to just passed the shoulder line at address where my shoulder was on a more vertical, also in transition his shoulders rotation seemed very inactive while his torso shifted forward. Great points here looking forward to working on a slower and lower shoulder transition

Keeping the left shoulder down, through, and around through impact finally has enabled me to hit shots with a consistently solid strike WHILE NOT HURTING MY BACK.
I found a constant swing, I shot high 70's consistently but my back suffered and still does at a result of swinging so poorly for so long. But this shoulder down tip, for me, was really an eye opener. This tip coupled with the tips on how to not get "stuck behind" have completely transformed my swing. Much more controlled now and stationary. In a good way. I was baseball-like.

Thank you. I think sports like baseball may have influenced it, because in baseball the batters turn a lot flatter because the ball gets hit at eye level. dipping my left shoulder low in the backswing greatly complicates the path if the club at impact as well as the club at release, and follow through behind my back is almost impossible. I've found that keeping my shoulder higher, but reaching under my chin with left arm in the backswing, leaded to much more consistent hits. Maybe too stiff at age 56?

Hi Dale, if that's working for you that's awesome. I wouldn't make any changes then. If you're getting the results then stick to it. Cheers

Your method works. I would try the left shoulder lower but make sure you are moving the lower body first before you finish the back swing. Get a squat move when the club shaft is parallel to the ground. Another words keep the buttocks from "moving off the wall" Do this in slow motion first and use A mirror or film from down the line. Practice hitting shots from that half way down position! You will feel tons of compression and really being able to use the ground. Yes it is more difficult but will lead to many additional yards to your iron shots! I am 58 so I know what you're talking about regarding flexibility. Your swing will be shorter but when you practice this move for about a week using video you can add 15-20 yards.Good luck. Don't give up! Stretch a lot especially the hips and shoulders.

    • @Hittingitsolid
      @Hittingitsolid  2 роки тому +2

Hi Johnny, thanks for your comment. Shanks happen usually when you either come down too steep in the downswing or your pelvis gets closer to the ball in the downswing causing you to raise the handle too much exposes the hosel to the ball. I'd work on staying more in posture in the downswing. I've got a video on early extension that will help here ua-cam.com/video/SF5TjLl7hv8/v-deo.html. I'm also release one this Wednesday that talks about the hips in the downswing which will help you out to eliminate shanking. I know the shanks is not good, but a professional once told me that a shank is actually close to a really good golf shot. Keep at it and you'll get there. Cheers

With your backswing you can achieve the same amount of turn by raising your lead heal off the ground during the movement. Some of the top tour professionals are actually doing this move now enabling a better body rotation. Francesco Molinari is a great example. Check out his golf swing and you'll see what I mean. Appreciate your comment. Thanks
