Just a Piece of Freedom - Old Saybrook Mural Project
Вставка
- Опубліковано 14 лип 2022
- The “Just a Piece of Freedom” mural was founded by Old Saybrook High School student, Nick Chacha. The mural represents the diversity of our students through heritage and talent as the Old Saybrook Public School system believes in offering its students the freedom to rise to be whatever they want to be.
An application went out to all student’s families to be selected to be painted within the mural. These students explained their interests, passions, and what living in Old Saybrook meant to them.
This mural was painted on the side of River Mart the week of June 13th to represent the amazing students of the Old Saybrook School district. International mural artist Rafael Blanco will be here working with students to create an interactive art experience.

Absolutely outstanding video! I love driving uptown and seeing the beautiful mural shining back at me. We are lucky to live in this small town that celebrates diversity. The mural reminds us every day to embrace people of all cultures.
Thank you, Matt, for creating this video to further remind us of what working together can do for everyone. Good luck in your future endeavors.
Stunning! I got to see this on Saturday as I was visiting Old Saybrook and really appreciate how beautiful this mural is. I hope to see many more of these works all over!
I'm a resident of Old Saybrook. The first time I drove down main street and saw the mural, honestly, it looked very out of place. It looked like an expression of inner city "art." It sticks out like a sore thumb in our historic New England town. It is something you might normally see in the inner city of a large American city. I hink if the students wanted to create this as a picture or a poster that would have been fine, but to emblazen it on the side of a building that is clearly visible to drivers - I don't think it belongs there.
