Still, cards like GTX 960, r9 380 and 280x are ridiculously cheap nowadays, for 2nd hand you'd probably get 2 of those for a single 390x. A used 750ti won't overtax your tiny power supply too bad, and they regularly sell on craigslist for like $80. Depending on your processor that should put you in very playable FPS at high graphics settings.

+DataMaster786 While i'm not Linus or a member of the Linus Media Group, i don't think they will reply, they probably get a lot of questions and don't have the time. You can kind of put them onto a single motherboard, but they are unable to cooperate. The AMD GPU will not Crossfire with the Nividia, nor will the NVidia crossfire with the AMD one. It's kind of true that some games work better with one or the other, the difference is not that much that you should buy both of them though, you are better of getting a better card from either side. You shouldn't be shopping by brand though, it's always better to consider both sides and look at each GPU individually. That said I personally would slightly prefer AMD for the better Dx12 compatability at the moment, but you could wait for NVidias next gen which will hopefully be up to par again. Still, look for the GPUs in your budget range regardless of their brand and decide based on their performance and features. If you are having trouble deciding, you could try your luck on the Linus Tech Tips forums.

***** Kind of, possibly yes, but it's not something that just comes with Dx12. It will likely only be implemented in very few games if any at all (considering nvidia probably won't even allow it), as it requires quite a bit to get working. Additionally the most games up to date won't even support Dx12, meaning you would spend twice the money for a feasible benefit in very few games and possibly none. Your best bet is to go the traditional route and either get a single gpu or a proper crossfire/sli setup.

Still, cards like GTX 960, r9 380 and 280x are ridiculously cheap nowadays, for 2nd hand you'd probably get 2 of those for a single 390x. For cpu maybe that 4460, i5-3570k or a nicely overclocked amd quad chip.

i have rewatched this series the most out of any scrapyard wars.
600 dollars is *not* cheap! I can't convince friends and family members to spend more than 300 let alone 600 dollars.

Well they value 600 dollars over *any* PC build. My personal max is 650 dollars. I don't care what a PC can do, it's not worth more than that to me.

Linus, could you possibly use Final Fantasy XIV as a benchmark for a computer? I've been trying to find out what it would take to run it at max at 60-120 fps constant. I have a REALLY bad rig that prebuilt with 2gb of ram and a crappy geforce gt 610 ;~;. My power supply is a prebuilt 350 watt, and.. idk my motherboard. I couldn't find anything on it.

Honestly, if you can spare $20 upping your RAM from 2gb to 4gb would do the most to make the game more playable at high settings without a major overhaul. A used 750ti won't overtax your tiny power supply too bad, and they regularly sell on craigslist for like $80. Depending on your processor that should put you in very playable FPS at high graphics settings.

+DataMaster786 While i'm not Linus or a member of the Linus Media Group, i don't think they will reply, they probably get a lot of questions and don't have the time.
You can kind of put them onto a single motherboard, but they are unable to cooperate. The AMD GPU will not Crossfire with the Nividia, nor will the NVidia crossfire with the AMD one. It's kind of true that some games work better with one or the other, the difference is not that much that you should buy both of them though, you are better of getting a better card from either side. You shouldn't be shopping by brand though, it's always better to consider both sides and look at each GPU individually. That said I personally would slightly prefer AMD for the better Dx12 compatability at the moment, but you could wait for NVidias next gen which will hopefully be up to par again. Still, look for the GPUs in your budget range regardless of their brand and decide based on their performance and features. If you are having trouble deciding, you could try your luck on the Linus Tech Tips forums.

Thanks for the advise. I read that Dx12 have the ability to let communicate NVidia and AMD. Is it true??? Well because i wanted a system that would work flawlessly and i think if such thing possible, then yes my system would be able to run any game. Whether it be optimized for NVidia or AMD.
+DataMaster786 there will always be better parts so just but the best card you can with your budget and replace it in a few years when a better one comes out. it's more cost effective to get one good one then two mid range ones anyway

Kind of, possibly yes, but it's not something that just comes with Dx12. It will likely only be implemented in very few games if any at all (considering nvidia probably won't even allow it), as it requires quite a bit to get working. Additionally the most games up to date won't even support Dx12, meaning you would spend twice the money for a feasible benefit in very few games and possibly none. Your best bet is to go the traditional route and either get a single gpu or a proper crossfire/sli setup.
