  • Just a little Demo of Sunfaces...
    Signal Chain:
    RealGuitars Custom Strat
    Sunface
    Baldringer Dual Drive
    Analogman Delay
    Strymon Bluesky
    Marshall ´77 JMP (SuperLead - None Master)
    Bluesbreaker 2x12 Cabinet (Celestion G12H30)
    Shure SM57
    I´m setting the clean trimpot inside the pedal a little up.
    This gives more clarity (especially if you´re playing into overdrive) and makes the use of a wah-pedal easier.
    The descriptions on the analogman page are spot on:
    NKT275 red dot: smokey, dark bluesy
    BC183: germanium quality with more cut (it has much more gain than I´m using in this video and can cut even more)

    I've been watching a few of your clips and am now a subscriber. You seem to be as obsessed with Guitar tones and gear as I am, so it's a pleasure to watch. I believe that our ears hear these sometimes minute changes differently day to day. I have compared different fuzzes for non players and unless they are night and day, they don't percieve a difference. For instance, I hear the changes in these two pedals clearly, some people can't. Even though I like a pedal, it will sound different to me in the same room, on the same settings on another day leading to diminished inspiration. Odd eh!

    Let’s not forget the Saint Bernard sitting on the Marshall head. I’m thinking that dude added lots of tone to this video 🌞💥🤘🏻

    good demo. I had a original AM nkt275 white dot, but when you roll the volume down, it was too clear and bright for me. Then i had a red dot medium gain, was good, a little too soft though. Sold it unfortunately.... Now there is a BC 183 on the way!! Hope this one is the right one for me

    BC183 silicon sounds smoother to me, which I think is a basic difference between silicon and germanium, which has a bit more edge.

    sick tones and chops bro! i run a trex alberta (Tube screamer) into my mxr bc108 fuzz face for anazing results...really tightens up the fuzz n cuts the low end while adding a ton of midrange..great for when you want less of a fuzz sound and more distortion esque...obvioysly great for solos too!

      +Chris Chambers thanks man! No, what you´re seeing is a Marshall SuperLead from 1977 none master amp, but I pulled two tubes. I played that amp clean and used the Baldringer Dual Drive for some crunch.

    I thingk to use 2 fuzz, one germanium and the other silicon. How about the chain, germanium to silicon or silicon to germanium?

    • @DansGuitarCorner888
      @DansGuitarCorner888  8 років тому

      +Joko Hanggono Hi there, I think you´ve got to try that for taste. I´m not a fan of stacking fuzz faces, because thes boost on so wide frequencies, one (and a dirty or slightly boosted amp) is enough for me :-)

    • @DansGuitarCorner888

      +heinz B the BC183 is a little thinner and more cutting. The NKT sounds fuller and fatter. One can clearly hear that. Keep your attention for example on the change 02:04-02:14.
      Also the BC183s cleanup is a lttle more harsh not so natural than the NKT 02:40 ...
      But they are close especially if you´re using them the way I do. It would be more drastic if you´re using a clean amp , but I wouldnt use them that way. Also I set them the way I like best, which is very close.
      One thing I also wanted to say:
      If you start playing the NKT it´s so fat so much mojo so unique! But later after some live songs (even in a trio) and your ears start to fatigue a little you´ll probably find the NKT lacks treble and has to much wooly bass. And personally I find it always easier to roll of treble than to get rid of to much bass in my sound...
      BC183: great for live especially if you´re using it very often during an evening!
      NKT red dot: great for unique solo leads and studio work!
      That´s my Status Quo :-)

    It would have been nice to hear the fuzzes without the booster.

    • @estudiosfolkloreiberoamericano

      what booster? I'm ignorant.

    • @danielallan5058
      @danielallan5058 7 років тому

      the fuzzes go into a dual drive pedal,Marshall overdrive channel sim pedal!..it boosts the fuzz so in effect your not hearing the sun faces for what they are!

    • @estudiosfolkloreiberoamericano
      @estudiosfolkloreiberoamericano 7 років тому

      Daniel Allan ahh u r right
      the sound in the review should start from clean

    • @DansGuitarCorner888
      @DansGuitarCorner888  7 років тому +2

      Hi guys,
      Daniel Allan is right the 'Dual Drive' by Baldringer has the sound of a cranked Marshall but it's really more like a preamp than a boost! ... it's in front of the clean Marshall amp... but: it sounds and reacts very similiar to a cranked Marshall None Master or JMP Master Volume... people compared it to the OCD but it's more than that! ... maybe it colours the sound of the fuzz pedals a tiny little more than true tube distortion, I'm not sure... I'm planing to do a demo with just a louder cranked amp with PostInverterMasterVolume that's slightly gainy and the fuzzes.
      I won't make more FuzzFace-Clean-Amp-Demo at the moment because I simply get better results with a slightly cranked amp (or the dual drive etc.) ... all those legendary tones work with amp distortion and (treble-)boost, fuzz, tubescreamer or similiar! Think about it! ... if you know any different please let me know, I'm curious!
      ... btw the SunfaceNKT whitedot (I'm using at the moment) is even closer to the BC183 than the reddot...
      Bests,
      Dan

      i know a lot of guys like to use something in conjunction with fuzz face type circuits,i made a hendrix bc108c fuzz fazz and a germanium ac128 fuzz face and the both sound nicer to my ears on the overdrive channel ..but i must say i like the eau claire thunder? and fuzz factory instead of fuzz face, its a fuzz face type circuit, better i made both of those from pcb up and the sound sweet!!
