    I liked Makima not being empathetic, I liked hating her from the beginning, some villains are better when they are void of absolution because as a viewer it is natural to love to hate someone, that is why I respect the author so much for denying to develop her backstory

      At this point, I've realized that the ambiguity surrounding Makima and her origin is much more interesting and valuable than any kind of literal or explicit details about her backstory.

    I disagree that she was alive in WW2. The WW2 associated devils would have formed during the war and after but that does not mean they died during that war. They could have died at any point between 45 and 97. Otherwise good video, very enjoyable. Thanks. I can see Reze and Quanxi returning. I think the conflict between hybrids and Denji who now protects the Control Devil would be an interesting plot point. I think part 2 also needs to show the true death of a hybrid as that is sorely missing from the story. A visible true death of a hybrid would keep the tension that Denji can physically die which is somewhat weakened imo by the apparent immortality of hybrids.

    I think the lack of characterisation of the villains adds to the tragedy of Chainsaw Man: Throughout this, Denji is working for a boss who doesn't care about him, and killing people he doesn't know. All the conflicts except the conflict with Makima are impersonal (they only want his heart, they have no problem with Denji the human).
    It also adds a bit to the realism - as a government special forces agent, he doesn't know the people he fights

    in the end pochita was underrated because we never seen him until the last fight with makima
    Edit: And Kobeni is just what a normal human would react if they were in her position in this world, because if you're a normal human you wouldn't be there be smiling risking your life just to get this kind of job and the reason to that is you dont want to die that's just what a normal human instinct would say

    The thing i really didn't lime was the rushed fight with Makima. It wasn't becasue i wanted cool fight scene only, but because having her die in 1-2 chapters after starting fighting her and letting her die just because of Power's ability without any smart way of using the protagonists powers undermined her buildup as this incredibly strong foe who is always ahead of anyone and stronger than anyone.
    However this rush nature is common in the whole manga. For example this great foe who is the gun devil (or to be fair the 20% gun devil), so strong that he seams unbeatable, gets killed the chapter after his reveal, off screen nonetheless. This rushy nature also hurt character developement and attachment to characters. In fact we aren't able to bond so well with characters like shark devil or angel devil whose death don't give this much of an impact. Also Aki's and Power deaths are much less felt by the reader than they could have been just because we didn't spend much time with them as the main focus. The only characters who stay in the main focus long enough to really care about are Denji and Makima, the forst one because he is always the focus of the actions, the second because she is always fishy so we pay much attenction to everything she does and both of fhem because most of the non plot related parts of the manga, the everyday life parts of characters stories, are about them alone.

    • @SchnozMeister
      @SchnozMeister  3 роки тому

      Yeah, it has to do with Nature vs Nurture. It seems like devils in the CSM universe can have similar or identical personality traits across their different incarnations; like how you mentioned that both Makima and Nayuta desire equal connections with others because they are both the Control Devil. But beyond that, it's all up to Nurture, aka how they're raised. Makima was raised by the Japanese government as a tool, which is why she ended up with such a messed up personality. If Nayuta were to be raised the same way that Makima was, she would end up just like her. However, if Denji is able to nurture Nayuta the right way, she could probably end up as a pretty normal person.

    23:37 imo the reason why people doesn't find this impactful is just lack of empathy, for me the door reveal was fucked up as hell

    sorry for necroposting btw :^)

    • @SchnozMeister
      @SchnozMeister  Рік тому +1

      Yeah, I think a lack of empathy could be a contributing factor, but I also think it just has to do with pacing and the timing of the reveal. It was very abrupt, and right after some other major story events, so I can see why people could react with "Oh um... okay?".
      Yeah I agree, I feel like even though Power was being honest about her feelings by calling Denji her buddy, I think there's no way she can know for sure that the new Blood Devil can be "turned back into Power" in the literal sense.
      the necropost is appreciated regardless lol

    I believe that the Chainsaw Devil represents entertainment fear, the fear from horror movies or videogames. It's a strong and popular fear in humanity, and entertainment distracts people from other fears.
    Nowdays, in most countries, war belongs to movies and games, they "ate" war.
    Chainsaws themselves aren't feared, but they're iconic to entertainment horror, that's why the shark devil admires him, Sharks are feared mostly from movies than from the real animal.
    This is my theory at least

    I want Power to come back as the Blood Devil and Denji have an arc where he has accept she is gone forever how he knew her. That’d be pain incarnate. Imagine him having to fight the Blood Devil, he wins, and the Blood Devil resents him for the rest of the series despite wanting to keep Power’s request.

  • @skyguyflyinghigh
    @skyguyflyinghigh Рік тому

    i don't think the reason makima looks human is because she's very fond of them. though i think she is in her own way in a fucked up way. i think it's because she's the control devil, an attractive human appearance and manipulative personality is simply better for control.
    also i think her past isn't meant to be too elaborated on, that's why we never see all of her powers, she's meant to be mysterious and unkown, scary at times because you never know what she could do. so when denji finally kills her it's like taking down one of the titans in shadow of the colossus. this incredibly powerful unkowable thing taken down by humanity. it would feel too classic shonen for fujimoto's crazy style to have a backstory.
    i agree with the death point though. that's the main reason i stopped reading to your eternity, they undid all of the deaths and kept the story going. as much as i love aki and power if they came back it would devalue the story unless it was as an ending.

What if ALL of CSM plot was controlled by Makima? What if Power and Aki was controlled by Makima all the time and was supposed to become so close to Denji so Makima can just take everything from him. Someone had a very interesting theory about chainsawman being the chaos devil because he is uncontrollable and can break the rule of the devils immortality. But if he's the chaos devil, what's up with the chainsaws? Well, remember how he defeated that devil by drinking his blood to maintain his stamina and created a perpetual motion machine? This moment was a taste of how the chaos devil operates, by killing other devils he was able to become more terrifying and more powerful, being stronger only made him more fearsome thus creating a perpetual motion machine. Mabe the chainsaws are the representation of this circumstance, the perpetual motion. Also chaos is the opposite of control and mabe that's why makima was unable to control him and was that intrigued by him.

    I feel like a Makima backstory is justified and perhaps necessary for one reason: Nayuta. If we are to believe that the Control Devil can be made relatively docile and kind, I think we must know the kind of events that happened in Makima's rearing that made her the way she was in the first place for context.
    Also I disagree on the topic of Reze for a few reasons. Denji never actually saw her "die", he thinks she stood him up at the coffee shop. Even in the final battle it'd be easy to believe that Denji didn't notice her because he was hiding. Also the most likely place for her to be is probably locked away with all of the other weapon hybrids by the japanese government, considering all of their corpses could've been easily recovered at the site of the final battle with Makima. This isn't even mentioning the different opportunities that could be explored if she were alive. Maybe she doesn't even like Denji, maybe it was just her circumstances that lead her to believing that Denji was her best option at the moment, maybe she isn't into him at all given more freedom/a different situation. I think that'd be an interesting aspect of romance to explore.
    Similarly I'd be fine with the Blood Devil appearing if it was clear that it would not and could not "become Power" again, it'd be interesting to see Denji deal with that.

    • @Asuraai
      @Asuraai 3 роки тому +82

      I'd say Reze is definitely into Denji. With their similar upbringings and all that. But what really reinforces it was the fact that Reze knew Makima was watching over Denji and could track him, she knew it was pointless to run away together as she mentioned during their fight on the trucks but she still goes back to him. It was pretty much suicide and she should have known that, and I believe she did.

    About the part where it´s mentioned how denji puts his life on the line for seemingly simple and primitive things: I think it´s actually a really good use of Maslow's hierarchy of needs (yk, the pyramid) where Denji starts from the very bottom of it and grows over the course of the series.
    When talking about happiness in chainsaw man, it´s important to remember where denji comes from and that he´s just a 16 year old, having to deal with all of these fucked up issues, imo.
    All in all, csm is a masterpiece for me, definitely one of the best manga I´ve ever read and I´m incredibly excited for the anime.

      Now that you mention it i really like and agree with what you said about maslows hierarchy. It specifies that base needs such as food and shelter must be met before higher tiers such as social standing and relationships can be attained.
      As such, Denji who struggled to meet even the basic needs fought tooth and nail to attain them, but after getting them started to desire more and more of the higher levels.
      Maybe somewhat of a stretch, but perhaps Makima who has already attained all the power she wants but cant experience true relationships strives so hard to become close to CSM, her one last hope for a relationship on equal terms.

    Just to clarify my point about character death; I'm not saying that bringing back "dead" characters (or characters that are presumed dead) is *always* a bad thing. But in order to make it work, authors need to: 1) Have a logical in-universe reason as to why the character either didn't die in the first place, or was able to come back from the dead, and 2) Do something interesting with the character that justifies their return.
    In the case of Chainsaw Man, I feel like the character arcs we got with characters like Power and Reze were complete enough that they wouldn't really need to return. Yes, they end in tragedy, but that's kind of the point. (Although, it would have been cool if there was a moment dedicated to Denji recognizing Reze among the Hybrids, and realizing that Makima 'killed' and took control of her). However, that's not to say that it would be totally *impossible* for characters like the Hybrids to return, and even for characters like Reze, Quanxi, and Katana Man to still have new, compelling character arcs. I just personally think that it's unlikely, since there would have to be some serious caveats to logically justify their presence in the story. But like I said, I could be totally wrong, and if Fujimoto can find a way to keep these characters interesting, then it's all good. And one thing I want to make clear is that whether I'm right or wrong about this; I want Fujimoto to make *his* story the way *he* wants it to be.
    I mean, how sick would it be if Part 2 of Chainsaw Man opened on Denji walking into class, only to see Reze sitting next to the only empty desk? (This is pretty wishful all things considered, but hey you never know)

      You know, I think it's kind of the point.
      When Reze, Quanxi and Katana Man came back, they weren't the same, being best shown by their new outfits.
      Makima depraved them from their own personality, standardized them, and made them nothing more than the weapons they represent.
      We see the Bomb devil and the Crossbow devil in a human form, not Reze and Quanxi.
      That's the same as that moment on the beach, when Makima uses several characters' powers to fight the Gun devil. It just goes to show that she ever only cared about what people could her to achieve.
      Anyway, I'm glad you're still talking about this masterpiece, I can't wait to see if the anime adaptation is any good.

      so a character dies and it is hinted at the end he may return in a sequel or something. i love the character and i would be happy to see him alive, but it just wouldnt make work thematically. his death is so extremely powerful and it ties in with so much in the story. as much as it pains me, he shouldnt come back, it would undermine his arc and the effect it has, especially on the reader. the deaths in chainsaw man are the same way. of course we would all love to see denji reunite with his friends but it could dismantle so much development and meaning if done the wrong way

    Makima not having a backstory was refreshing for me. I didn’t want her to have a redeeming quality, and even if her backstory wasn’t a tragic one (although It most likely was since she was ultimately a tool they groomed for destruction), it’s what makes her actions all the more gut wrenching. From controlling Aki’s emotions of getting him to “like” her, while Himeno pinned after him so badly, to making Angel destroy his whole village. Then of course what she ends up doing to Aki and Power. For me, it solidified her as a full cutthroat villain who really was out to create the illusion of a beautiful life for Denji, only to destroy it. They say that one is neither purely good or evil, but I love that Fujimoto blurred the lines with Makima by not giving her a backstory and letting it be up to the readers to interpret.

    The Four Horsemen are going to be an integral part of the plot moving forward... and if they're involved, then the weapon hybrids are going to be, too. Reze and Quanxi are almost certainly coming back in some form. I can't help but feel the similarities in how Fujimoto wrote Reze's backstory was in service for what may have been the burgeoning ideas of Part 2 in his mind, because not only is she of similar age to Denji, but she's also never gone to school and represented the first serious object of affection for Denji that stood counter to Makima. This would have worked just fine as a tragic parallel to Denji, but after seeing her and all the weapon hybrids battle Chainsaw Man at the end, I can't help but feel they'll all be back in some capactiy.
    The next arc is called the "High School Arc"... Denji, on some level, is going to try experiencing "normalcy" while indulging in the Chainsaw Man persona he presents to the public. I cannot imagine the logistical contrivances that would be needed to keep this farce going -- not just because of Nayuta but also because of the insanely hot commodity Denji has become to not only devils but international espionage. Kishibe almost certainly contrived him a deal with the government, along with covert protection from foreign adversaries for such a way of living to be even feasible. Reze works not only as a continued representative of one of the biggest foreign adversaries, but also an emotional attachment/vulnerability that Denji will have to continue to work through in the story.
    I expect probably the first third or half of Part 2 to be a faux-slice-of-life with interspersed devil/hunter fights and more of Denji finding himself, but with the second half kicking things into high-gear in a setup for the apocalypse. I personally think Part 3 will be all about the apocalypse itself, but in the case it ends with Part 2, then we get that as the climax.

    Reze should definitely come back to her former self. She's a hybrid like Denji which basically makes her immortal. With Makima dying, the spell on Reze is probably broken. We can assume she's back in the ussr after breaking from Makima's spell. Also Reze's death had no impact on Denji since he's unaware of it. Only the chainsaw devil encountered and fought her(not Denji himself). Would be bad writing in part 2 if Denji finds out about it and just gets over it in a few chapters. One thing about chainsaw man's charm is the relationships. I agree with Aki staying dead and with power coming back but not as the same person anymore because those deaths denji saw in front of his eyes and had an impact on his character, and even broke him. Meanwhile all Denji knew about Reze was that she was leaving and eats flowers as acceptance that Reze has left him. It would be an underwhelming conclusion to their relationship if Denji just finds about her death and not experience it. Also I think Reze returning matches with part 2's theme of highschool. Reze after breaking from Makima's spell would try to find Denji but gets caught by the ussr and has her brainwashed and forget her memories. They could make her a spy having her attend the same school as denji. I know Fujimoto has new characters in store for us that are going to be amazing, but when it comes to romance no one beats Reze. And I think even if the conclusion of her relationship with Denji isnt going to be happy, it deserves more development and chapters. Even if Reze actually ends up dying for real, I think it should happen in Denji's arms.

    @AlinCodee 3 роки тому +17

    Regarding Power's contract with Denji, I strongly believe Power really meant exactly what she said, and that made it in my opinion the most hard hitting moment in the story. Yes, Power lies a lot, but she is selfish more than anything. She found happiness or self fulfiillment being with Denji, so her contract with him is meant to have hopes that she could go back to him and to that content state.
    Power also became very physically attached to Denji after her experience in Hell, leaving her scarred and scared to death, and her physicality with him in her last moments really shows that Denji is her safe haven. Knowing that she would reincarnate and maybe have to go through all that again or even worse, led her to save Denji and sacrifice for him so that she could, in the future, have a safe place again.
    Also remember Power's theme is based on cats, and we all know cats really attach themselves to humans who make them feel safe and looked after. Sure, Denji doesn't spoil her to death, but in the dark context of the story, it actually really makes sense. It's more so that she spoils herself by being around him, just like some cats gently rub themselves against people to draw attention on themselves.
    It's just a lot of cat behaviour that is at the core of how Power thinks and is. It's the same as how Makima/Nayuta and Denji are thematically based on dogs. Viewing the dynamic between Power and Denji from that perspective adds a whole new angle to their connection. And trust me, a cat that loves their home, will always want to come back to and only to That place that is their home.
    Lastly, Denji actually turning the new Blood devil back into Power is actually truly possible considering the idea of how a devil's personality and purpose after their (re)incarnation can be shaped by human interraction, is introduced and expanded upon by Kishibe in the last chapter. If the Makima version of the Control devil can be molded and constructed by a government, and if the Nayuta version of the same devil can be nurtured and maintained by Denji, who is actually given the task of not letting the control devil turn back into the Makima version, then it is 100% possible for him to also turn the Blood devil back into the Power version.

    • @SchnozMeister
      @SchnozMeister  3 роки тому +8

      Yeah that makes a lot of sense, but even if that were the case it still wouldn't be the same exact Power from part 1. For one thing, she wouldn't have her human body and would instead be in her true devil form. And even if Denji was able to befriend her all over again, she still probably wouldn't regain her memories. Best case scenario; It would essentially be like if Power kept her personality but had memory loss.
      HOWEVER, considering that a contract is involved, I guess it isn't entirely impossible that there could be some shenanigans that allow her to regain her memories. But one thing I'm almost certain of is that she probably won't look the same, since the human body she was inhabiting got bisected by Makima.
      Thanks for commenting dude, I never really connected the thematic through line with Power and cats v.s. Denji with dogs, it's interesting to think about.

    • @AlinCodee
      @AlinCodee 3 роки тому +5

      @@SchnozMeister Yes, I always thought that Power 2.0 would not regain her memories and that Denji would have to work pretty hard to be able to "change her back". But now that I think about it, I thought the opposite about Nayuta and how there could be a high risk that she would remember if she came in contact with certain things that would pull her back to the dark side.
      Memories of past lives after reincarnation is a concept that has roots in real life stories. But ofc we are talking about devils here, and even though Makima and Power were devils with a very humane state, it's still something not completely defined by Fujimoto.

    Hi, I wanted to give my 2 cents on the date night with Makima at the movies. I think the interpretation that Makima was crying due to the movie is incorrect, though that is how the story is potrayed - through Denji's eyes. We see him looking back and forth between the movie on the screen and Makima to see if the movie was interesting at all. When we get to the movie that Makima is crying at, it was actually Denji who cries first from the way we read it. He then looks to Makima and sees she is also in tears, perhaps to solidify his weird reaction to the movie and creating a sort of "moment" between the two.
    Denji is first to cry, but if we think of movies having an impact on our feelings, then it is really the Chainsaw devil that is crying during that movie. We don't see what Makima was doing before he started crying until he looks over to her. So in my interpretation, Makima noticed Chainsaw man crying and turned on the waterworks herself. This was all a ploy for her to create the bond between the two of them since she is ultimately the Control devil.

    My interpretation of the Chainsaw Devil's special ability is that the Chainsaw Devil isn't necessarily a being born from the fear of a chainsaw akin to the other devils, but rather, of the devils' fear of humankind's resilience, tenacity, and willpower. My personal immediate associations with chainsaw (barring Leatherface lmao) are characters like Ash Williams from the Evil Dead series, who just absolutely annihilate whatever terrors come their way in bloody glory, and I think that's the association you're meant to derive from the Chainsaw Devil. Really though, thematically, that's what the Chainsaw Devil does. It embodies the human strength to overcome fear and reduces specific fears to nothing, both figuratively and literally.
    I also think that this is why Makima has such a fondness/respect for Chainsaw Man. Given that she views humans like how humans view dogs, if my interpretation is correct, Chainsaw Man is like a dog that's been distilled down to the purest, most endearing, most defining traits that a dog can have.

    Honestly I don't really mind the under developed secondary characters on Chainsaw Man cuz one thing I hate the most in anime is when they give to much backstory to every single character in the anime. Just like in real life, you know more about the people that are closest to you than those who you just recently met, and I think chainsaw man encapsulates that idea pretty well without giving the anime flashback bullshit every 2 seconds like other shonen anime.

    I agreed with a lot of what you said but there is a moment that I think is easily overlooked that just made the ending so much more meaningful to me. When control’s reincarnation requests a slice of bread for a meal I couldn’t help but think that this was to symbolize the potentially similar upbringings of denji and makima, that both just wanted a normal life with someone they could be happy with but due to the hardships of life that they were dealt whether they were being used by the yakuza and the public safety devil hunters or the government for their own goals and in order to deal with there painful lives they found a way to get past it for Denji it was to accept the bad bc without it the good wouldn’t mean as much whereas makima decided to get rid of the bad so that only the good was left. So by having a slice of bread be the beginning of denji’s character arc and having a the same thing be the ending of makima’s not only shows what makima’s past may have been like denji’s but also that control’s future would end up as bright and happy as Denji’s (not that denji’s ending is all rainbows and sunshine but at the end he is smiling and seems happy)

  • @natillano
    @natillano Рік тому +7

    Fascinating. My take on Kobeni and Denji's talk regarding the "normal" life is more or less basic. Makima's overall goal was to give Denji everything he wants in "normal" life; food, shelter, playing games, a brother and sister in aki and power; then take it all away so that he couldn't live "normally" anymore thus nullifying his contract with pochita. This allowed the true Chainsaw Man (or whatever Devil he is) to take control which Makima would like to fight and defeat so that she can take control of him and his op power. Denji was willing to give up thereafter but with his talk and new contract with Power along with the "normal" life take with Kobeni, he realized that there is more to what he thought was normal and aspired for more (he'd like steak for breakfast instead of bread and jam, he'd like 5 girlfriends and tons of ...) thus pushing him to fight Makima once more.

    Makima not having an explicit plot dump moment is great, and I think key to the story?
    I feel like it put us (the-reader/the-community) in Denji's shoes. We know she's up to something, people including ourselves act different around her, but all Denji cares about is getting those sweet boobas.
    When her dastardly plan came to fruition, it was all that more shocking and evil. But because we/Denji don't know shit, there is still love for her, and she needs to be eaten so Denji could get in a way that broke her contract.
    And then at the end of all her reincarnation asks if he wants to ride that crazy ride again and he straight up says "fuck that shit"

    • @SchnozMeister
      @SchnozMeister  2 роки тому

      Yeah, the ambiguity of Makima's backstory is definitely intentional and meant to push the theme of ignorance for Denji's narrative, but like I said in the vid, I just want a _taste,_ a few pages would have done the trick; just like Aki and Power's backstories. They're short, but they convey a lot of information and contextualize their motivations and development throughout the entire rest of the story.
      I've honestly found my peace with Makima's backstory, it's been months since I made these two videos and I've had plenty of time to just get over it and appreciate what we got lol. If it comes up later in the manga somehow, cool, if not then that's completely fine.

  • @kastiak06
    @kastiak06 3 роки тому +9

    Personally, I feel that Makima's inability to control Denji at the end is not so much because he defeated her in combat, but more because, even after all that she had made him go through, he still had the resilience to live freely.
    She tortured him so much, to the point where his existence was null and all that was left was the true Chainsaw Devil.
    She says it herself in chapter 95: "How can I get you to give up on this world, Denji?" "What do I need to do for you to turn back into Chainsaw Man?"
    And after supposedly killing him, he still showed that was not willing to surrender. She didn't even try at this point. She didn't even have to see him as an equal, trying to control him was just pointless. She already did everything she could to break him, and yet he still prevailed.

    if we had the "dead" characters come back, i would like them to be different people but maybe still have references to their former self. like say if the gun devil and denji ever encounter each other again, he'd be reminded of aki. but i agree on the basis that they should not come back as who they were before

    I love what they did with akechi’s “revival” he didn’t have much going for him in the first game so to put more focus on him makes his death more impactful. But when he returns it is confusing as hell. You don’t know if he’s truly alive or not. And that makes the question of should we stop maruki an actual question. The player has to ask themselves if they’d choose akechi vs the world, and if akechi is still alive would they be endangering everyone for no reason? And I love how there’s never a clear answer after you beat the palace, he disappears but the protagonist sees what he thinks to be him at the last cutscene. So you never get an answer to justify your decision. And yes there was a leak saying he was originally supposed to be alive and in some type of therapy but they removed for a reason. I think the story is better if you don’t know.

    • @SchnozMeister
      @SchnozMeister  Рік тому +1

      Y'know what that's actually a pretty good comparison, and I totally agree that Akechi is 1000% better in Royal compared to vanilla P5. More characterization in the main story, and we get to see another side of his true self in Maruki's reality. And I def agree on the ambiguity too, I feel like it's much more interesting than "oh he's fine, just in jail or therapy".
      If a similar thing were to happen in Chainsaw Man, I think that would be sick. Like maybe there's some kind of devil that can fuck with Denji mentally or make him remember the stuff that happened between him and the dead characters from Part 1. Hallucinations, psychological attacks, that kinda stuff. I agree that temporary is the way to go.

    I'm not sure if it applies or it was translated correctly from the original in the first place, but if this is true, Power forming a contract with Denji is truly heartbreaking. In the Infinity Devil arc, Aki said that fiends can't form contracts. I don't think I've seen it either as far as I know. So Power telling Denji to find her, may not have been a contract. Just her way of trying to convince Denji to keep living, even if it means making a meaningless promise to keep moving forward.

    • @SchnozMeister
      @SchnozMeister  2 роки тому +4

      Okay, so I re-read that part and Aki's exact words are "fiends and devils can't make contracts with each other", (this is from the physical North American version I have) and since Denji is a human, I don't think that restriction would necessarily apply, but like I mentioned in the video, I'm pretty sure that Power's contract will have some kind of caveat.

    • @baku3435
      @baku3435 2 роки тому +1

      @@SchnozMeister thinking of it, denji still had power's blood to fight makima with, even after power showed herself one last time. So I guess the contract is legit. Still, as tragic as it is, i would've loved the story going that way as a sendoff of Power, with part 2 having Denji dealing with her loss and learning to get over it after realizing that he can't just bring her back. Could have been a great subtle way of telling the true meaning of that promise and Denji's growth as a character.

    I just finished reading Chainsaw Man today, and I absolutely love it! Although, I can't help but wonder how Nayuta looks almost exactly like Reze but in a child form together with Makima's eyes. Reze and Makima, the two characters Denji fell in love with, all into one person.... just wow, or maybe I'm overthinking about it XD I'm not sure if this was intentional by the creatoror rather something coincidental , but if it was intentional, that sure is interesting to look into. This was a great video btw, your analysis of the manga is amazing and really helps clear a lot of things up from the story ^^

    Makima was extremely delusional about Chainsaw Man 'cause what she was so obsessed with was his extreme power and chaotic traits, but she never really tried to look in his inner proccess. All she saw was someone she could not control. Chainsaw Man always tried to "help" always tried to "do-the-right-thing" it was just that the world was too fragile for that type of love. "All I wanted was a hug," - coming from someone who has chainsaw for the hands is pretty much a tragedy itself.

    Personally I don't fully agree with the statement that bringing back a character ruins the impact of their death. I do think it's often one of the most poorly handled concepts in manga (And I don't see how Chainsawman would go with it) but the concept itself isn't an instant story negative. For instance I think that Yu Yu Hakusho handles the death and resurrection of Genkai great with the impact of her death on Yusukes character still being there and not reverted at all when she comes back but also the fact that it ends up being a perfect tie in to the end of Toguros character arc and backstory. Honestly the only complaint I can give to it is that they also just revealed Kuwabara who was also "Dead" was actually faking it like an episode before Genkai comes back but it also doesn't negate the impact and frustration Yusuke had about not being able to protect his friends even after getting a nifty power up to fight Toguro. Once again I don't know how Chainsawman would handle the concept and I don't really think it should tryvit myself but it's not an impossible thing to write well into the plot.

    I’m really excited to see how the second arc plays out with the rest of the horseman devils coming out- well at least war and famine. I wonder if we’re going to get more backstory on Makima here (did they grow up together? Famine looks very similar to makima, at least in hair and eyes, and the horseman devils are reffered to as siblings. Is makima conquest?). Maybe through this arc, we’ll learn more about Makima, and I’ll be curious to see what it could imply, considering her true goal was to be equal to humans and have a family right? So if she was raised with the horseman devils or smth, how does that play into it? Whatever happens, I’ll be so excited to hear your thoughts on it !!!!! I think the reason why Chainsaw man is a dog is that they are both tie-down by chains. A chainsaw and dogs are both very chaotic and cause destruction in their path but both have chains.
    Chains represent in Media as "slavery". In order for a chainsaw to work it need chains and dogs to follow orders because they are in chains. Although Chainsaw man is chaos personified, he also can follow orders. Orders or control from Makima.

    One reason Makima wasn't able to control Kishibe and Denji thruough her power is probably because they're both batshit insane.
    We know Denji's psyche can't be well developed due to his upbringing and later lack-there-of, and we can assume Kishibe to have suffered unimaginable losses and haunting experiences in his 30ish years career.

    Adventure Time’s take on reincarnation would counter your idea that they forget who they were in the past life. Yes, Finn didn’t even know he lived a past life until he started to see an hallucination of his past self. Then he went through a process called Past Life Regression. It allowed Finn to experience the memories of who he once was. He was a girl named Shoko, a mercenary. She had a job to steal BP’s gem. However in the process they became friends before she died. Later in the episode when he finds Shoko’s corpse and BP is with him. He says to her that he is Shoko. Not, was Shoko but is. He still goes by Finn and acts how he was in his life before learning who he once was. But him and Shoko’s memories are now one.
    So depending on the direction Fujimoto wants for the blood devil, and possibly Power. He could have past life regression for her. We know why it would happen - so Power’s memories come back. But we wouldn’t know the how, yet - because it could be anything to trigger the past life regression. So the blood devil could have Power’s memories comeback. If Fujimoto wants to into the direction that past life regression is a thing in his world

    Life rocks, and it would rock even if we lived without the concept of death. I'm not saying a story brings characters back can't feel cheap or it could simply not be what the author wants to portray. However people are too in love with the idea of low points of life give meanings to the high ones.
    You could live a life without ever knowing about the concept of death and be just as happy as someone who comes face to face with it.

    I do also hope all the characters that are dead now stay dead, it will ground in and solidify all of denji’s losses and make his any possible new connections with new characters in CSM part 2 that much more meaningful. He knows what it is like to love and lose now to an extreme, that can change how he interacts with people into a whole different way. Maybe he’ll be scared to connect, fearful that any friend he makes he could lose, or maybe he’s more appreciative, more loving and open to others. I really really hope genuinely no one comes back, unless for some insane ass, universe, story twisting (in a good way) reason
