- Roy Khan, ex Kamelot singer. The voice of band Conception today!
I truly believe he is one of the few singers that made music something more than just melodies and notes. He added emotions and magic.
He is more than just a "Metal vocalist" he is an artist, painting portraits with each note. He also is an outstanding live performer, he is charismatic, energetic when he needs to and subtle when its called for and using that he has the best stage presence imaginable. The man deserves so much respect and is without a doubt one of the top vocalists in metal history!

Kamelot really had the best of Roy. One Cold Winter Night is beyond our world. I'm sure I'll never hear anything so magical again. Sad to think about it. But I really glad that Roy is back, it seems he's doing what he wants to.
What a voice ... mesmerizing. In his younger years he had a more tenor like range, now more baritone. But still able to reach pretty high notes!
And his voice is now very well controlled. Warm and expressive but still so powerful, really powerful!
Roy is the absolute master of emotion and magic and there are just few vocalist that can deliver the same.I am a huge Kamelot and Conception fan but my humble opinion is that his voice was on the top around 2005-2006.
He is just amazing and I knew that he would return on the scene but his years with Kamelot were just pure magic.
No one could ever do it like him and Kamelot is not Kamelot without Roy!🤘❤🤘
I recently discovered a singer who could deliver just as well. Geoff Tate (Queensrÿche). Just listen to their album "Operation:Mincrime". It rocked all over the world and surely influenced Conception as well.
By the way, I learned about Queensrÿche from a review, where Kamelot's "Karma" (which was being reviewed) was compared to "Operation: Mindcrime" and proclaimed an eternal, legendary album.
@@Oleksa-Derevianchenko I can say that Geoff is great and deffo Operation Mindcrime is a masterpiece.Again, what Roy did with Kamelot from 98.-2011...was just...pure magic and now it's a history.Cool fact is that Kamelot's ex drummer Casey, who was wotj the band for over 20 years is now touring with Queensrýche!
Also, check Daniel Heiman(another master of emotion)and what he did with Lost Horizon,it's worth!!!
@@ewoxmaiden1611 or Heiman's latest with Dimhav, very good.
ROY IS LIKE WINE
I keep coming back to hearing his voice. He really is my favorite vocalist. I can't get enough of Roy Khan's distinct vocal range, technique, control, tone and delivery.
How beautiful and masculine this man is, his voice sounds like that too. I love his voice in all the years of his vocal career. Kamelot shined with him obtaining an unmistakable style among power bands. He is a master of his voice. Long live Roy Khan, blessings.
And let's not forget that he writes most of the music. That's why Kamelot sounds..... lifeless without him. It wasn't only his voice that made them so great.
True!
Yes this! Kamelot is just soulless 13 in a dozen generic sounding now... Its so sad.
The last album with Roy sucked music wise, I can't imagine they would have gone down a good path even if he stayed
@@drumboarder1 Wow i very much disagree. Poetry is still one of my most played albums, i think its brilliant.
@@Cerrydwenn i agree! Poetry is good, it's just not so power metal
Greatest living male singer for me.
the biggest chance is from 2001 to 2003.
He sounds good even drunk, 2008 Rule the World.
Algumas musicas do kamelot e do conception, deixam nosso dia mais feliz. Torço pro conception vir fazer shows no Brasil.
Roy!
Mein größter Wunsch…. ihn einmal so live zu hören❤
My all time favorite singer
Best singer in Universe❤
The best of all time
Roy is the true master Frontman...and voice like butter. And as far as kamelot is concerned, the new singer is good..... but he is no Roy. Bless his heart he tries to throw in the nuances of theatrics like Roy, but it is not near the same
like wine...the more time passes, the more round the flavour
Because your lyrics so have I!
5:25 truly a fashion icon
Ricardo Milos can sing.
It's the du rags that sealed it for me.
God what a beautiful voice, I love him, he's handsome, where will you be?
Awesome video, Roy is the best singer alive, imo
He definitely is one of the best singers that ever existed 👍 Long May Be The Reign Of King Roy Khan 💯🎶
Best Singer in the world - Brazil here.
same. Chile here. an huge influence.
One of the best of all times.
Amo roykan
God bless you my love
We're coming up on having 30 years of Roy. Really crazy when you think about it.
For the high pitched stuff I like his younger voice around 1995 - 2003 the most. The deep vocals benefited from age.
Agreed, love his voice today, so deep and emotional.
Well, when listening to the evolution of his voice, he was most likely a tenor in the beginning of his career, but you can definitely the baritone in 2005. That may be why you prefer his higher register when he was younger ;)
He was at his peak in 2000,Expedition version of Nights of Arabia and Fourth Legacy is vocal masterpiece. It is no wonder they will not even try those songs with Karevik his voice would crack mid-song.Those are some extremely hard songs.
He s Great really
Who watched the video till the end?? :D :D
Hehe, I didn't plan to watch the whole video since I've watched a lot of live recordings recently, especially ones of the "screamy" years. But Roy Khan is way too great :D
Good thing you didn't make a 2 hours video)
@@Oleksa-Derevianchenko lol I had to cut a least 10 minutes :)
Here!!!; Roy Kahn in my top 10 of the best singers.
Time well spent, thanks for your effort in making this!
me :B
his prime was definitely in '06 when they filmed the DVD. That was such an amazing performance.
IMHO the album The Expendition shows a better live performance. One Cold Winter Night is awesome but I prefer The Expedition
Thank you for making this. Khan is brilliant👏. One of the best vocalists around and certainly underrated. Thank you thank you
I recently learned that early Kamelot has quite a lot of fan recordings. So I checked them out to enjoy and try to learn if my singing their early songs is comparable to the live version... Well, with totally predictable results. "Night of Arabia" is not from this world...
It was fun to know that they played Conception's "Hand on heart" at least once live.
God what a beautiful voice, i love him, he's handsome, where will you be?
PRETTY GLAD HE IS FINALLY BACK!!! I was waiting for this returning.
La voz de Dios.
I just found out that Tommy has the same voice tone compared to Roy in 1998-2001, and what happened to Roy in 2006, he's actually leaped his voice control to another level.
GREAT !!! GREAT !!! GREAT BAND !!!
He sounds the same so good
Ahh yet again, I'm on an emotional ride...
Geoff Tate is our common MASTER ,he was the first to show a New Dimension more Intellectual & "Golden"to the Vocal Metal Style;-) But with Roy I feel a very peculiar AFFINITY on many levels & questions. He will remain my "Major Brother"in the Vocal Sense:-)
my top 3 prog metal singers are Geoff Tate, Roy Khan and Michael Eriksen, but the last lacks of consistent composing skills but has a very good voice, in a healthy way to recover high notes. now i have an bass baritone voice F1-A4(G5) i ve never sang. only i trained after hearing Queensryche and never tried. into the low notes Sir Christopher Lee was an useful influence.
this is amazing
Eine unverwechselbare Stimme. So wie bei Freddy.
Ele é o melhor
The Expedition \m/ Roy Khan \m/
Great video! The Voice of God is back. Anyone else want to contribute towards a gofundme for a vocal coach for Khan? We need that incredible gift maintained and healthy for many years to come 💓. It was too painful losing it the first time! 😩
Mastermind behind music and voice master Roy:) I always say he is male version of Tarja, icon of style of voice in his style of music
lol Tarja is my favorite female singer, and i always said, Tarja is a female version of Khan 😂😂😂
i am glad that i am not alone:D
Lovely😊And i have been on for the ride.. 🙄i wonder where i have the old magazines from the Conseption fan club😜
I wish he would come back to Kamelot and sing with Tommy Karevik. It worked with Helloween.
his peculiar voice everything always conveys feelings of hardness and tranquility
I like the clips from the One cold winters night performance. With each clip you chose we see a bit of difference. High main voice, a mid or even a low main voice depending on the song. He didn't just play songs, he was playing characters. Always attentive to the life of the songs. He would often choose character over total perfection in singing technique. But that isn't a bad thing. He's a performer.
Hunter's Season would have been a good addition to this list though. That one is a solid demonstration of him settling into his lower comfort range as he got older.
What is total perfection in technique for you? You're either trained or not..
@@carin4139 Yes. And that gives you the freedom to either be very strict in how you approach something, or be free and loose with it. Roy likes to do both.
@@a.m.7438 so where on OCWN is he free and loose with it?
I love "The Expedition" album
Yo todas Sus canciones
His voice changed so much during those 2 hours in 2006
👍👍👍👍
This is truly awesome ... and you nailed it in the description ! Thank you !
Thanks, I needed 2 days to make this video, hope someone watches it till the end 😄😄
I just did , and it won't be the last time :-)
Also , I didn't know about the live Expedition album until now .... so double thanks ... no ... triple :-)
@@razray2527 Really? dude that is his prime if you ask me. Listen "nights of Arabia" from expedition, insane.
I sure will ! Thanks again ! That's a dudess , by the way ( that is - I'm a " she " ) :-)
Neat live performance of Hold On. I've thought that would be a good one for them to do live now.
Finally seeing people agreeing the similarities between Geoff Tate and Roy Khan
well they both are baritones
And both left bald 🤣🤣🤣
31:20 was a pleasant surprise!
Maybe not his prime, but his best vocal performance is "Silver Shine", IMO.
now tommy karevik is the new roy khan, but both of them has a amazing voice
His voice was better when he was younger obviously. Amazing singer. I love the Kamelot days though. I had to go back to learn about Conception. It seems he was struggling vocally towards the end of his Kamelot days but he re-emerged with Conception again recently. What really happened with the split from Kamelot ? It seems kind of unclear.
he completely left music/public life due to severe depression
Will you upload all of the albums of Conception in true HQ?
Igual la voz
Is there really no live version of Conception's "Among the Gods" or "The Last Sunset"?
There is, the file was just too big, join the Facebook group (conception band) You can find the video there.
why didn't add any of his new material with Conception?
See the video till his end.
Jessica rose wise, you better watch this
Name of the song in 2006's first footage ?
Kamelot Elizabeth live in oslo
....wait
do the conception logo and kamelot logos use the same font XD
Honestly that was my first thought when they put out their new logo. Had to do a double take, same brush stroke shading even
