    4:17 Zack is the only director who makes the version of his movies that are his absolute vision. He makes it possible with director cuts. No director has done it like him and they may not do it in future.

    6:32. This is how Zack makes movies. He tries to give you what you want, or at least what you think you want, only to turn it up so hard that you start to question WHY you want it. This is what Watchmen does. He calls it “deconstruction” and I think people just don’t know what he’s talking about, but I do. Some of his favorite movies do the same thing: Robocop in particular. He’s almost lampooning the very thing he’s making. Which is really cool and a unique way of seeing stories.

    I think Zack should be given the chance to a do a prequel of the Dark Tower series with a younger Roland and his first Ka-tet because his idea of an Arthurian Legend set in the Gold Rush era sounds really close to it!

    The hate this guy gets is ridiculous, sure his stuff wasn't perfect for DC, he never wrote MOS etc, but the overall Universe and what was planned, it had crazy potential and the Superman story arc from MOS to dark, evil, then bright hopeful had me interested, it was different, then WB after BVS did the usual knee jerk reaction and started to look more at Marvel trying to get their directors ideas? Why? Marvel only worked a bit better because they built their characters over YEARS, people love familiarity and by the time The Avengers rolled around the audience knew lots of the characters already from previous movies and that's why it worked.
    DC has always been a bit more serious and darker/grittier in tone, and it should have been left well alone to grow naturally over time, by the time JL3 would have been done, I bet the DCEU would have been massive, as good or even bigger than the Marvel movies, plus Infinity Wars and Endgame was suspiciously like what the JL2/3 story boards were when Joss Whedon looked at them doing JL reshoots! Yep he most defiantly went back to Fiege with the information from those story boards.
    So yeah the hate is unwarranted, The DCEU was learning as it went along and 1.5+ Billion from the first 2 movies ain't that shabby and I bet JL would have hit 1B+ if it weren't meddled with. It was ruined before it had the chance to grow and no, less liked the 'lighter' tone movies like Shazam etc, and especially the silly, goofy, trashy ones like TSS/Peacemaker, as hardly anyone went and continued NOT to go because of the meddling, daftness and trashy movies they were trying to push, only Elseworlds did ok and AM after JL. JL was atrocious, what they did to Superman's face was criminal. It felt ruined on purpose, just like the DCEU as a whole, the younger ones who praise Whedon, and yes I liked Avengers and some other Marvel stuff, but when they are older and look back they will realise the DCEU was sabotaged and that is just NOT ON, even today still keeping guys like Gunn who will promote HOLLYWEIRD'S FILTH disguised as Comic Book Movies/TV Shows etc! 👎
    I find it hilarious though that when you have an opinion against the 'lighter' silly toned movies, people automatically say Snyder'whatever', just childish behaviour and why we are in this mess in the first place for DC movies, the young ones (not all, just immature ones) are VERY LOUD on threads over the internet, but they DO NOT make up the bulk of the long term fans nor the vast audience out there that prefer DC Movies mature and more serious. Was the 'SnyderVesre' rubbish? absolutely not, did it need tweaked, yeah, but that's all it needed, tweaked!, not completely changed in tone and starting to become silly and childish all of a sudden, that was jarring and Suicide Squad I could tell right away something wasn't right behind the scenes, as it felt like 2 different movies at times, like it wanted to be something different, a bit like JL!
    It's funny though you would think WB would have learned their lesson from JL etc all the lighter more silly stuff, but no they hired Mr Funn Gunn himself, kept Safrans childish goofy tone, similar to 'Funn' Gunn, now don't get me wrong GOTG was decent for a Marvel movie, but his DC stuff is NOT what I want for DC and nor should the family see his stuff, it's pretty much for juvenile delinquents. If Superman Whatever it's called now is serious I guarantee it's because of interference, which yeah meddling is rubbish, but that's what WB do even though Gunn says he's in control I fully doubt it, then the next few DCU movies will go the silly, goofy and woke route, as I can tell by him using the Authority, which NO ONE asked for, just like TSS etc.
    Tbh DC should have had a Hall of Justice of Directors. I liked really liked Donner, Burton, Singer was ok, Nolan, Snyder, Jenkins, Ayers SS cut is probably far superior, Phillips, Wan, Reeves,
    Imagine a team of those directors creating a HUGE Universe, throw in Spielberg and we are Golden!...but no, Funn Gunn and his attitude stinks towards the fans, past directors work, his horrible twitter comments of old AND new to fans dissing them when they are hurting, his many lies, his ego and so on, honestly he should have united the fans not tore them apart even more, so I smell something fishy, like lowering WBD stock so someone else can but them or merge etc, wouldn't be surprised if Disney had a hand in dismantling the DCEU from DAY ONE so they didn't steal their thunder and audience over those critical years and holiday periods etc where some families only choose ONE movie to go see etc! I could be wrong but Big Multi dollar companies are BIG BUSINESS and CUTTHROAT!
    Whatever happened to REAL Superheroes? Take me back to 2015 or earlier, especially Superman 1/2, Batman 89/returns and the Nolan trilogy ANY DAY!
    Personally the sooner WBD gets merged with Universal the better...just hurry up about it!

    Rebel Moon hehehehe nothing big

  • @FreddyMacT
    @FreddyMacT 3 місяці тому +3

    I mean there has to be some fair criticism that he relies on it "making sense" in the director's cut vs making the cut everyone is going to watch palatable and understandable. I think that's a negative and not a positive from him, he seems like a very nice guy but Rebel Moon was not my cup of tea at all.

    • @Whaddayamean13
      @Whaddayamean13 3 місяці тому +3

      Yeah that’s completely fair. I don’t see why Zack felt the need to play ball with Netflix wanting to put the cart before the horse. You would never make 300 into a PG-13 version and look, it still made almost $500 million and became a cultural phenomenon. It was just a misstep. But it’s ALSO fair to say that the director’s cut offers the essence of Rebel Moon for him and that it was meant as a deconstruction of sci-fi/fantasy films. It’s jabbing at tropes of the very films it’s based off of. This is why everything is a clear reference to something else you’ve seen before. It’s supposed to remind you of another scene from another film because it’s a satire of them. Sadly in a PG-13 you can’t get that

      @@Whaddayamean13I read the novelization and I feel bad for Snyder for real. Some action scenes are totally different. There is more depth to the character and things just makes sense. I think he needs to focus on making movies for a smaller budget where he is allowed to do anything he wants.

    • @Z3RO_Myth
      @Z3RO_Myth 3 місяці тому

      to be fair, Zack and Netflix want Rebel Moon to be the next big thing in the science fantasy/sci-fi genre of pop culture, cinema, etc., so you have to ask yourself, would Netflix greenlit 2 rated R Sci-fi epic space films that really push the needle? Also, I really enjoyed Rebel Moon Pt. 1 (the PG 13 version) and Pt. 2, but I know the rated R versions of both films will be amazing a lot more impactful 💯.
      Also, I read the novelization that's based on the rated R version of Part 1 and it was an amazing read, loved it.

    • @FreddyMacT
      @FreddyMacT 3 місяці тому

      @@Z3RO_Myth Netflix green lights a lot of stuff, it doesn't mean it's good or bad, it's just the nature of the beast in streaming. Frankly having to read the novel, then wait for the R rated release, that seems like a lot of work to do just to watch a movie.
      It's sort of my point, there's so many buts and ifs in there when a simple execution in the first movie of a series would do.
      Netflix didn't widely distribute it in cinemas, it's on their app, it's at the top of their promotion list, if they want people to see it, it's right there for anyone logging on. So R rated or not, it really doesn't make a difference.
      For the movie to have so much exposition dumps and not make much connection in the 1st go ahead, that's seems like a pretty big miss.
