Well, yeah? The sticky trap doesn’t just instantly kill them, they just can’t escape. Kinda like those glue traps for mice and rats, you’ll hear them squeaking and have to dispatch them yourself.

😆 Never heard of Leca before coming upon your channel. Dang fungus gnats, had them from a couple pots that didn’t get repotted after coming in for the winter, it sucked cause it cost me the herbs I was growing, one house plant and the tomato my mom was trying to grow indoors, both pots were the culprit though… we finally got rid of them in the end I would love to have this new pot of herbs continue on growing into winter this year.
@@ohtheplacesyoullgrow I heard a great gnat deterrent is to put sand over the soil because they can get past it or something, I’m going to try that this fall when I bring my herb pot in, if I can keep the herbs from bolting!
You should get a cape sundew for your fungus gnats! Mine is pretty low maintenance and the gnats will keep it plenty fed. I haven’t had a single gnat roaming around my room since I got a sundew.
Your pressure washer idea made rinsing so much easier. I no longer have to spend tons of time finding with my regular hose nozzle. My laundry bag is pretty worn out from rinsing large amounts at a time, so definitely need to buy some new ones if I want them to hold up under getting blasted with my pressure washer 😂🤗
I'm just now getting into gardening, I have a bunch of beautiful houseplants...but I have never seen or heard of the things you talk about, uber fascinating! I basically just water my plants and give them miracle grow ....I know you are probably passing out right now. LOL

I'm propagating some stuff in leca but actually growing bigger plant in it scares me. Like I'm not even sure at what level the water should be? Someone said that if the water is all the way up, my corms might rot? I am... confusion.
For rooted plants, I keep the water below the roots (until water roots grow into the water naturally then it’s fine). For propagations, I keep the level all the way up like you would when you water prop. Then once roots are established, you can slowly transition to maintaining a reservoir
I have this plant that had a mushy stem so I went to replant it, and I(the bottom of the plant have a split a bit but it still grew fine) the one of the stems separated,(the plant is an impatiens) so now I had two plants and they both looked like they have roots but how do I know I didn’t accidentally break the whole plants root system and if I did would the plant still grow now as two plants?
I have a lot monstera deliciosa that I have growing in water, but they are getting to big and I want to put them in dirt but I also HATE dealing with nats. I think I might try leca
Yes, leca be a batch if'n you ain't usin it ret...I, too, had cascading plants today. Some were cactusesses and I've never had so many pricks in my hand...
I’ve seen some UA-camrs put their plants in water to encourage water roots before putting in LECA. Are there times you do this? Or are you successful without that step?
You can use water as a transfer medium. These roots looked healthy enough that I didn’t find that step necessary and also I was lazy. It’s been several weeks and all three plants show no sign of shock or root loss. The Myco helps!
And then once you drop the cup the correct thing to do, and the correct thing that most plant parents would do is lie on the floor for hours and cry over your mistake and then actually the next day get up and do something about it being a plan pairing is fun😅😅😅

I never had luck with alocasias. But someone gave me a couple rehabs for free and I stuck them in leca and less than a week later I already have a leaf on one! What was the name of that stuff you sprinkled on the roots? It went to fast for my brain. Lol

@@ohtheplacesyoullgrow I will have to research sometime. But I mean obviously it has to be baked in some way, maybe something special with the pressure idk lol
Makes me laugh that she bought smooth leca. You know its better if it's rough. I mean literally, leca is used because it has a big surface area to volume ratio, allowing it to hold nutrients, good bacteria, and water better. If it's smooth, it will be worse at doing that.
The surface area is not significantly reduced just because it’s smooth. The only major difference is in the buoyancy because the smooth LECA will float if your water level is too high (but when using LECA you don’t need your water level to be that high to the point in which it floats). My Alocasia frydek variegated has been in this LECA the longest and its roots are extremely healthy and the plant is thriving.

Cleaner, no fungus gnats, I can control the nutrients, it’s reusable, never worry about under or overwatering

how do the soil roots not rot when transferred to leca since it has no water roots? my plant got root rot when transferred :(
The Myco inoculant helps for sure. You can also move it to water temporarily until it grows water roots and then move to LECA
Apparently using epsom salts helps with transplant stress as well
Oh cool!
Quelle est la petite poudre que vous mettez sur les racines ?
What's wrong with the other Leca?? Cus I have a MASSIVE bag of it....
Nothing! It just requires a lot more rinsing to get the dust off
