Daron has struggled with depression his entire life. He's a very sensitive person too. I wish more SOAD fans understood that instead of expecting him to be "crazy" like he is on stage.
I'm a long-time fan and have just read a lot of interviews where he's struggled with self-acceptance. He also used to go long periods of time without leaving his house and would only talk with his girlfriend and bandmates when he had to.
I've been a fan since the late '90s and he has talked repeatedly about not wanting to be around people and he'll hole up in his house for months at a time. Those are common depression symptoms. It's not a secret to hardcore SOAD fans that Daron has issues interacting with people and used to be very anti-social.
For all the people that say he seems sad. He probably is his most treasured thing in the world his band is disbanded from making new music and basically on a permanent hiatus obviously playing music made him able to act crazy and silly and get passed those walls.

Won't ever forget seeing Daron live with his band. Me and him locked eyes for a bit. I just stood completely shocked and just nodded my head to say "Hey". He nodded back and I felt star strucked.
I had a similar thing at a festival, he kept looking at audience members and saying "fuck you, and you, fuck you, and you" and I think I recieved a fuck you from him, never felt so good to hear fuck you from someone 🤣
I saw SOAD in Edmonton before they broke up and Daron got punched in the balls when he stage dived. He crawled back onto the stage and said that wasn't fuckin cool. Then the crowd threw about 500 joints on the stage to say sorry for that ass that did that. Sorry Daron. People don’t understand that a musician is a character. This is not who he really is in real life. You can’t really behave like who you really are as a performer, because that would be considered boring. But at the end of the day he is just a normal human being like everyone else

My uncle did Gretzky's dry cleaning so I have a nice big Gretzky autograph. Im a fan of SOAD so this was cool to see his collection. I had the same mini oiler stick.

Acting like that on stage is somehow expression of a histrionic personality that, we know, origins from a self acceptance problem. I don’t see as weird the difference between his behavior on stage and during interviews or private contexts, I think it’s a proof of his issues. Also “lonely day” to me is evidently about thinking of committing suicide, but maybe I’m the one thinking that. You didn’t ask for this comment, I know, but I felt like confronting with people about it 😁
