  • I give advice on how to pick what type of guitar is right for you (acoustic, electric or nylon string). & I talk about if the brand is important & some things to look for so it's easier to play (such as low action). I also show & play my very 1st guitar (an acoustic). #buyingaguitar #firstguitar #entrylevelguitar #beginnerguitarlesson

This might be just what I need, at least as far as decision making comes. I need to figure out what electro acoustic might be best suited for me.

the key is figuring out what you need from a guitar, as there is no perfect guitar that works for everyone. feel free to leave a comment with any questions that aren't answered & thanks for watching 👍

@@ericnaylorguitar Oo thankyou. So far i've figured out that I need/ prefer a smaller neck, being female I do have smaller hands so a smaller neck helps. I sold my acoustic earlier this year, I came to realize that the body shape didn't feel quite right for me, it was an Orchestra shape. I know I would like it to be an electro acoustic and to have a cutaway as well.

If you haven't tried parlor guitars they might be a good fit for you being smaller & I've heard some that have a good sound. But I would recommend just go & try a bunch out it sounds like you have a good idea what you want so be patient you might not find the perfect fit right away but If you keep looking I think you will. Good luck

@@ericnaylorguitar I haven't ever tried one no, I have heard of them though, so I'll do a bit of research on them, see what they look/ sound like. I wish I had a store nearby to go and try something but alas, there aren't really any instrument stores near me. I wouldn't be brave enough to try one out either, need to work on that somehow too.

not having one near you makes it harder but if you do go to a store & don't want to be playing in front of everyone just ask an employee at most stores they will be glad to set you up in a unused lesson room or backroom where you can try things out in private. I've done that myself just so it would be quieter & I could hear the guitar better

I notice that you have 22 frets. What do you think about 24 frets? Just curious...I mean a serious pros and cons of neck and number of frets. Some reviewers say only need 22 but never expound on why. 🙂

honestly it never has been a make or break issue for me I just got the guitars I liked or could afford (when I started out almost all were 22 my first 24 was when I got a 7 string guitar), But the reason some people probably always get one or the other is tone differences, the centering of the 12th fret on a 24 fret guitar will usually cause the neck pickup to be pushed closer to the bridge making it a little brighter sounding. But I've never played the same guitar in 22 & 24 back to back to see how much it actually affects the tone (since so much factors come into play) & as far as using the extra frets I personally rarely play that high on the neck so not that big a factor (though sometimes I wish they were there when I don't have them)
