I remember seeing this on Boomerang when they were still running Harveytoons. I also saw a Noveltoon on that same show featuring that same turkey and farmer (correct me if I'm wrong).
@@swarlock Well in the original 40s shorts, it was always implied he was a human with his tombstone. But he always forgot he was dead because after he's rejected, he either self-loathes or tries harming himself by getting hit by a train, and drowning himself with a boulder. It's possible suicide was what killed him because he had no friends. And the original short revealed the reason why he makes friends is so he can forget he's dead and restart his life with a positive hope. But Harvey Comics felt that was too grim to market so they lightly changed to being more a magical creature and that he was born as a ghost when his ghost parents got married and implies he can age. (How he gets old and possibly dies is left vague and confusing and something the writers never figured out.) The movie went back to making him a dead child again and explicitly gave a backstory, lore, last name, and family.
He was sledding out in the cold late at night and he got sick. He didn't go where he was supposed to go; he stayed somewhere close to his dad so he wouldn't be lonely. 😭 It's explained by Casper in the movie. :'(
*Sighs* I don't get everyone's problem... even as a ghost Casper doesn't look a BIT scary
Overall most people are scared of ghosts as a general rule.

Leave that poor turkey alone you jackass!!
HE SHOULD HAVE GIVEN UP ON HIM AND LET TAKE HIS LUMPS AND BECOME THANKSGIVING DINNER !! HE DIDN'T CARE AND JUST KEPT ON EATING !
Ya or just be more firm to the turkey and not being too friendly
They're the same turkey and farmer from 1950's "Voice of the Turkey."

He died from Pneumonia pneumonia after playing out in the cold until it was past nightfall. It was revealed in the movie!
This was before that movie was ever made. In the comics he was born a ghost and always was one.

In Harvey comics later he was already born as a ghost right out and became a fixture in The Enchanted Forest Lore of The 60's into The 90's.
Sid Raymond is "Timothy", Jack Mercer is the "Farmer"...
i can view casper alltime of the day.... funny and cutie...
Great cartoon. The old ones are always the best!
@Willow756 .
How did he die?

It would be so cool to see the Ghostbusters come in and ghostbust Casper's candy ass.
Casper's voice is so annoying and so is his prancing like a sissy.
He's meant to be a 5 or 6 year old kid here. Chill TF out.
Casper is the lamest cartoon character ever!!
No, I've seen a lot worse.
I wouldn't say lame. Personally He's the most heart warming character I've ever watched.
