💦 We used to dance to this song at all our class parties and learned today the song was written to motivate Jamaicans who had migrated to England in the early 70's. May light perpetual shine upon this great Jamaican lyricist and motivator, and may his soul rest in peace!🌹🌹🌹
This song was one of the hits my late uncle kennette played around his bar mostly on Sunday evening. Miss those days .. Rip uncle kennette .. Pip bob Andy . Lets keep the love alive 💕💃🕺🏽💕❤️
At one point,,,🎵🎶 I thought this rich authentic historical song was for me,,, no food no job even though you're trying to find one,,, no fixed home,,, mighty GOD your children cried,,, but you never leave us,,🙏🏾 Bob Andy a Tru inspiration 👍🏾✊🏾💪🏾🇯🇲🔥🔥🔥 loves this song (RIP) LEGEND ✊🏾
Big up to jam 1 tune. You,re the boss. Thanks for Bob Andy song-Got to go back home.We Rastas tired down here inna Babylon.I got to go back home-Ethioia.
These music lives on and on sweet rock-steady music like this lives forever, Thanks to the person who up-load this. this brings back so much memories. Blessing one love, to the great Bob Andy peace One love. 42empress.
It is indeed magic. It's not quite rocksteady though. It's intermediate between ska and rocksteady. It would have been called ska at the time, because the term "rocksteady" hadn't yet been coined.
@Rohan Williams Well I wouldn't say bullet but I take your point. This is a very moving and emotional song. I found it on UA-cam a few days after my mother died in 2015. It reminded me very much of the grief I felt (even though the circumstances the song is about are very different). It was also a pivotal track in the transition from ska to rocksteady.
When I first heard this way back in the early 70's, I thought it was Robert Nesta Marley.....but it was Bob Andy(Anderson)..Interesting that Rich Sounds below, says Peter Tosh(MacIntosh) and Bunny Wailer(Neville Livingstone) were the backing vocals...this must have been at the time Bob was in Delaware,US, with his Mother.Yes vetb882...Bob Andy is still with us,I saw him in Perth,Western Australia last year.steve
Yes indeed. Many years ago, I heard an interview with Bunny and he admitted that he and Peter provided the BGV on this song. This was not uncommon back in the day amongst singers and brethrens - such was the vibes.
@FiaBallProduction I love Jamaica too, but where I call home right now is so peaceful, the homicide rate for 2010 was 14 and 99.9% of that was due to gangs and drugs and when I hear about some of the senseless killings in Jamaica I think twice about going back home. God bless.
@FiaBallProduction I am not from the USA I am from a little city in Albertra Canada. I .spent christmas and the new year in Jamaica last year, I had a wonderful time but after listening to the news on the radio, I made sure that I was home no later than 7at night here in Canada I can stay out as late as I want and still feel safe. Yes 14 is a small number compared to Jamaica's thousands for last year. I still want to live in Manchester though.
Wow, I was dreaming this song all morning g in my sleep. I haven't heard this since I was a kid in Jamaica in 1969... what does that mean. As a kid I didn't understand the seriousness of the lyrics... the song has a happy feeling but dark words. Is Bob Andy still with us?
The world knows that Jamaica is the heart and land of music
Gone back home but, Never forgotten. Rest easy Bob Andy
