When I was a kid, our holiday beverage was cranberry juice & 7Up. I don't know where my mom got this recipe--she could very well have seen this ad and over time, eliminated the stuff that she didn't like or was too much of a hassle. We had it every Thanksgiving and every Christmas.
Punch was a staple at every community gathering when I was growing up. For family gatherings, my mom would just mix 1 part cranberry juice and 1 part ginger ale and call it punch.
Yes!! This was so true for me growing up in the 80s and early 90s. I kind of like the sound of ginger ale and cranberry juice, definitely going to try that out.
I liked this recipe so much! I'll prob just add little dashes of cranberry juice and apple juice to make one for myself instead of making a huge batch.
I remember a punch that had scoops of sherbet in it back in the 80s and it was delicious! I don’t think I’ve seen a punchbowl since though, guess people don’t serve punch or don’t have those kind of parties anymore.
My mother made a punch with 7 Up, I recall it having pineapple juice, 7 Up and mint, can’t recall anything else but I remember watching her make it and putting it in the punch bowl. It sparkling and when she let me have a taste the bubbles tickling my nose
I used to have punch growing up on Christmas Eve . We had punch at my daughters baby shower and my daughters wedding . Like your apron! Love your single punch bowl lol
Yes! Punch drinks were a thing for every party when I was growing up in Ohio and I am only in my early 40s. Let's make punch drinks a thing again! Love your channel as I am a huge vintage cookbook collector and always looking for news one to get my hands on. Thanks for making these videos.
What happened, where did all the punch go? I think at some point the ladies in my family all decided to start drinking Crystal Light. Maybe that's the reason for the switch, at least in my case? I feel like I need to do some sleuthing. 😂
@@cooking_the_books 🤣 I would take a great punch over Crystal Light any day. I am now compelled to make a holiday punch for my Christmas meal with family this year. Thanks for reminding me of this once common party beverage.
"Just me having a me party" = yes, girl! 😊 Every time that I see a punch bowl in an antique store, I bemoan to anyone near me how nobody makes punch anymore. I miss punch! This looks yummy.
Haha, I gotta celebrate myself sometimes! I have been tempted by some really beautiful punch bowls, but then remember that I will probably never use them. This was a really tasty punch, a keeper for sure.
Yum! I’d be a happy camper if I showed up to a party and found a big beautiful bowl of that punch. 😊 I wonder how the same recipe would taste, swapping ginger ale for the 7up too?
Merry Christmas🎅🎄🎀🎁⛄❤💚 Yes, I love punch too!! You can probably find a punch bowl somewhere. Maybe a thrift shop or holiday specialty store? I think I had this before and it was really delicious😻
I think my parents may still have a punch bowl floating around in their basement. Just not something I see very often anymore! This punch really is tasty. I would definitely make it again!
Good morning Anna! Well...I love all 3 drinks you put into this on their own, so this sounds like a must try for me! Plus, it's so easy to make even a school kid could do it!...One question if I may...Did the ad happen to mention how to spike this punch for the grown-up gatherings? Or would you have any recommendations by chance? Hehehe😉...Thanks so much for sharing, and I wish you and yours a beautiful and blessed month of December ahead! Take care! Ms. Elizabeth 🍸🍷🍸🍷🍸
Hi there! Unfortunately the recipe didn't give spiking instructions or proportions. I'd just say maybe add some vodka to fit your tastes. Hope you are having a wonderful holiday season!
Very refreshing! I had to sport the Dolly apron, it's my most Christmas-y piece of kitchen gear. I ordered a vintage apron from Etsy for last year's holiday videos and it arrived sized for a child. 😂 Glad to have something festive to wear in the kitchen this year!
This punch was super good...a little tart, not too sweet!
RETRO CHRISTMAS 🎄PUNCH WOW I'M THINKING GOING TO MAKING FOR MY JOB CHRISTMAS🎄 PARTY 🎈🎉 IT'S A GOOD IDEA FOR NEXT CHRISTMAS 🎄SEASON.
You’re right about not seeing punch a lot anymore, I haven’t seen anyone have punch at an event in a long time. This punch looks delicious!
It was so good!! I'm trying to think of the last event I attended that had punch....truly I can't come up with one haha.

LOL people are getting TOGETHER. 7Up is healing, as we know. I love a me party! This is great and definitely doable!
I liked this recipe so much! I'll prob just add little dashes of cranberry juice and apple juice to make one for myself instead of making a huge batch.
We still love a good punch! We don't have them super often, but they are fun. The 7Up ice cubes are a nice touch.

Love your single punch bowl lol
Oh yes, my single punch bowl is THE fanciest! 😂
Perfect timing! I like that it’s not too sweet, this looks like a great one to make for all the guests I’ll be entertaining throughout this month.
It was really good! I kind of want to scale this down even more so I can just make a glass for myself every now and then.

@@cooking_the_booksWE LIVE IN A VERY FAST PACED WORLD, SO THE LADIES OF THE HOME WENT WITH CONVENIENCE AND SODA-POP TOOK THE PLACE OF PUNCH !!!
Looks good! I love the idea of 7Up ice cubes! Fun video, Anna!
Thank you!! I don't know if the 7up ice cubes were absolutely essential, but I had to give it a try. 😂
You look really nice in that new Dolly apron you got. Thanks for sharing this with everyone.
Thank you! and thanks for watching!
Looks yummy! 7 Up ice cubes.....great idea! I remember lots of punch bowls too while I was growing up. I remember them at school dances too!
I'm pretty sure my parents received a punch bowl as a gift when they got married. The newlyweds simply had to be prepared for entertaining guests! 😂

Hello my friend. I just saw the notification bell. I'm watching your video right now. Please stay tuned👍
My mom would serve punch at holiday parties, but I don't remember any that DIDN'T have sherbet floating in the middle!
Oh my gosh the sherbet ring! Unforgettable. Sometimes it was just scoops of sherbet if the occasion wasn't fancy enough to warrant a ring. 😂
Yes! Sounds perfect for a party! All I want to do is a bunch of punch this year... kinda obsessed, hahah! Thank you Anna!
This really was tasty! I don't drink, so I'm all about the fun mocktail-y alternatives. This is a good one.

Ooh I love ginger ale. I'll bet it would be delicious!
I remember punch bowls and also bobbing for apples. Love your holiday apron! Cheers and Happy FriYay!
Oh yes! Bobbing for apples, I remember that too! Hope you have a wonderful weekend. 😄
@@cooking_the_books Not too bad. Got rained in and played in the kitchen. Happy Weekend!

I remember seeing this ad years ago. Not my tastes but I'm glad you tried it for all of us! Fancy Schmancy!
The ad is so cute. I kind of want it in a larger size to hang up at Christmas!
@@cooking_the_books that would be adorable.
Sounds refreshing.. and you wore the dolly apron! Love it.

Hawaiian Punch + 7Up was our go-to punch for birthday parties
