Totally agree about ZS, it just felt depressing. No way would Clark let his Dad die like that or stand there kissing Lois when people in Metropolis were dying in the rubble. Even sunny days were grey for some reason. BUT. Perfect casting and beautiful suit.
I'm a lifelong Superman fan, and I'm stoked it seems like we're gonna get a movie that understands the character. I remember the feeling of my heart sinking when Snyder's version said the line "nobody stays good in this world." Love your take on Clark being an everyman who chooses to do good. I always say he shouldn't be a god, he should be a member of your community.
I loved My Adventures With Superman; it's very much its own little niche of "Superman, but anime," but it felt so much truer to Supes than the Snyderverse ever did. I didn't watch a lot of Superman & Lois, but I got the same vibe there. Just the "Nice cape! Thanks, my mom made it for me!" scene was top tier Supes. :)
I mean, when they had the 'Zack Snyder Justice League in Black and White: Justice is Grey,' I thought it was a meme at first, but they actually did it, and you can see it on HBO. Superman should be blue and red and bright and bold, unapologetic and unironic.
The reputation has already been saved if you look around a bit. Recently, Superman has come back into popularity and people understand him a lot better. This movie will capitalize on that pre-existing momentum, and fire it forward like a cannon. But it’s no necessary in and of itself for a Superman resurgence
Have you watched the absolute golden movie of Superman vs The Elite and the golden show of My Adventures with Superman If not, you will thank me Edit: Oh wait nvm You saw them both Anyways, those who haven't should still watch them!
All good, superman vs the elite is probably my favourite superman film made. Perfectly captures the character I love from the comics. And YES I love My adventures with superman, both seasons have been amazing, love the voice actor for sups as he fits the tone of how I feel superman should sound!
Regarding to colour grading I was actually disappointed that it still look too dull. It’s just a brighter version of the suicide squad and peacemaker teal grading. I was expecting a colour profile similar to that of 50s technicolor films, a modern example being Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, where both the warm and cool tones really pop. Here it seems a little too overdone on the cool tones, which doesn’t bring out the red cape enough (imo). I was also hoping for more warm sunlight considering supermans connection to it (take Raimis Spiderman for example). Objectively this is really good colour grading, I just think it lacks the kind of warmth you’d get from the character of Superman. We’ll just have to wait and see
Trying to convince yourself a terrible movie was good. That's how I felt with Batman v Superman. It could have been great. The casting and the costumes were on points. It was just way too emo.
It's not Superman's rep that needs saving here. It's DC/Warners' As for Snyder's rep--lost cause. Gunn's is solid gold. He means to keep it that way. And that trailer looks damn good. Interesting he and Snyder worked together on the Dawn of the Dead remake--which I liked, not as much as the original. Pretty damn clear its success stemmed from the writing. Still the only Snyder film I like.
I find it funny how Gunn and Snyder seem very chill with each other and it seems it’s just the fans of the two that pit them against each other. I tried my best to never seem like I was doing that in this video
@@the2shae127 I didn't think you were, but this isn't about them being enemies. Rivals they surely are, since it's showbiz, and you're only as big as your last picture. They are not buddies. And I rarely see Gunn even mention Snyder. Since what's he gonna say? He obviously does not agree with the direction Snyder took the DCEU. And he's presiding over the DCEU's total dismantlement and replacement. It's about talent, vision, ability--and Gunn has more. That's all.
I personally have never liked Superman, Zack Snyder's interpretation is what made me like the character, he honestly felt like badass for the first time to me. But unfortunately that's not who the Real Superman is, so I'm glad the DC/Superman fans are getting the OG Boyscout they fell in love with. While I won't see the film, I hope James Gunn meets everyone's expectations and the film is successful. I personally just hope Gunn doesn't direct Batman, I don't want this Bright Sunny Marvel vibe for Gotham or the Character.
@@Jman7phxazit is true as far as I’m concerned, there’s always gonna be a few haters but there’s been great Superman media the last several years, the movie just need to improve, I have faith it will
Reboot in 3-2-1... I'm nearly 50. I've been waiting for the ultra powerful superman for years and we'll never see that if they keep rebooting. I think Cavill could have taken that direction but studios have weird intentions. Reeves (both) encapsulate the hopeful, human quality for me. do like Man of Steel though.
well said. how are you supposed to make a good superman story when you are already embarassed by the red trunks from the get go? snyder was even embarassed by the S symbol on superman's chest and had to spin it to mean 'hope'. this like someone comes in to do a batman film and remove the silly pointy ears.
Well if he was the oldest teen age you could possibly be at 19 when man of steel came out he'd be 30 now. Being a teen doesn't mean 13 automatically and it was 11 years ago. Even if he was 17 he's closer to 30 than 20 by a whole 8 years.
@@TheN1ghtwalker that doesn’t appear to be the take that Gunn is going for, that was Snyder. Based on what has been shown and stated for the film it seems that this superman will be more layered and made into a more 3 dimensional character
That narrative is doing more damage than any fact of the matter. I get the disappointment. But blaming Gunn is like blaming the puppy your parents bought after sending your old dog to the farm. I’m sorry for your loss. The old dog deserved better.
James gunn understands superman unlike Snyder who didn't

Nicholas Hoult worked out for this film actually because of that one scene from All Star Superman that's what he said
Superman vs the Elite is my favorite story. It's even more amazing when you realize it was published in the spring 9f 2001, 6 months before 9/11.
