- The amazingly talented Daniel Webber joins Cardigan Kid to discuss his role as Jessie Evans in the new Billy the Kid series from MGM, as well as to delve into the history of this mysterious outlaw! The finale of season 2 is about to air, so if you haven't yet, make sure you catch up on Billy the Kid!
I'm so impressed he mentioned Susan McSween. She doesn't get much recognition for obvious reasons. This is why I love the younger generations (most of the time).
Great score, James, getting that interview. Really enjoyed that. Even if you made me get up too darned early in the morning to watch the premier. 😵💫
Rise and shine!
I’m so glad you mentioned him playing Oswald. Gary oldman playing Lee was amazing too but I think I actually prefer Daniel
His performance in that role was phenomenal!
YES. I love Oldman too but there are certain roles he's just not good for -- like a baritone trying to sing soprano. He has incredible range, but few have total range. Webber's had a promising career prior to BtK and it's important to recognize that. Or else I'd be terrified of running into "Jesse" on the street.😅I'm continuously impressed with Webber's man's abilities.
He's doing for Jesse Evans what Dermot Mulroney did for Dirty Steve. Excellent work.
Awesome analogy. Well put.
Every time I see Mulroney in anything I can't help but think, "Did you see the size of that chicken?" Then I get over it because he's such a good actor.
Another Great Show Guys.
Daniel has done us Aussies Proud. Aussie is pronounced OZZY btw🤠
I did not know that, Matt! Thanks for watching and thanks for the pronunciation heads up!
Never met an Aussie I didn't like.😉
@@CleoHarperReturns same here! Makes me want to move there.
James, Fantastic !!
Thanks David!
Thanks James! Wow, Daniel is so good and so interesting. Love that he is really diving into the Billy world. Mr. Webber makes the perfect Jesse, and I must say, the costumes in this series are so awesome. Wasn't aware of there being Season 3. I just wish they would come in quicker succession. Thank you for this interview, I really enjoyed it!
The production, sets, costumes, etc. are all so amazing in this show. Jesse Evans is probably my favorite character in the series so far.
DW👍👍
Love to see where this channel is going. Congrats James! Great episode.
Thanks for all your support and help, Brad
Sorry for the comment spam guys, but this one is for *Daniel Webber*, if he's out there: I feel with absolute certainty that what Estevez did for Billy the Kid's exposure, you are doing for Jesse. In time, there will be a cascade of books about Jesse Evans -- because of your excellent work. You didn't have to do the research or look too deeply into this character but it has made all the difference. Thank you for bringing such a complex and worthwhile part of history alive for us. Truly unforgettable.
Pirates of the prairies! Great quote
I thought so too!
This quote awoke an epiphany in me: I've always lived in places where pirates were prevalent in local history and I love that. Even though I don't have a huge love for the desert (🕷) I have always been so drawn to Old West history as well. Now I see the connection.
So, so different from his character! A testament to his acting. Watching him here, and listening to his accent took some getting used to😄🧐
Haha! Thanks for watching, Kim! He was so cool to talk to.
I know I've already said it but I'd be remiss if I didn't leave a comment. Daniel Webber brings such a wonderfully dark complexity to the role of Evans. Honestly whenever he's in the scene he completely steals it, even though I'm a BtK ride or die.
I agree completely about his scene-stealing skills.
Great interview James! Loved it
Thanks!
You're so right about this show getting people "into" Billy the Kid. Since I've watched it, I'm constantly reading and watching docs, and I know that my husband is TIRED of me talking about him all the time.
Shout out from South Texas!
Excellent interview! 🤠 🙌
Thanks so much!
Great work, Man!!!
I have a love hate relationship with this show. I have a feeling from a recent Tom Blythe interview that they're going to go the brushy Bill Roberts route.... but Daniel's performance is a great in the show. and his research is impressive.. Thanks, James.
I have many issues with the show, personally. But there also some amazing moments, and I've always been enthralled by the depth and substance Daniel has brought to the show. I try to be as encouraging as I can about the show, however, because 1) it's got plenty of awesome bad@$$ moments and 2) it's introducing a potentially new generation of folks to Billy the Kid.
But I totally get your perspective.
