Problem with the Tardigrades, is that despite being resistent to many things, most of it is not the usual cause of death for tardigrades, that is of course their predators, and tardigrades do not have good defense mechanisms against them which is pretty ironic.

I’ve never heard the term “moss piglets” but I love it! Is that term commonly used? Are some species called water bears and others called moss piglets, or is the whole group called water bears by some, and called moss piglets by others?
Both names are very common, although "moss piglet" is generally only used for Eutardigrades, which are almost all fresh water and semi-terrestrial; living in, well, moss. Heterotardigrades are almost all marine, so they dont get that nickname haha. I would highly suggest looking into them! They have a significantly wider range of diversity in terms of their body plans, despite a much smaller number of individuals being found. Theyre really neat to look into, but they aren't studied as much since theyre harder to find.
Thanks Dave. I wonder whether they do share a lot of their genome with Arthropods, or are placed parallel to them as a result of convergent evolution. It would be remarkable, if tardigrades are found elsewhere in the solar system.
hey professor dave! i recently read the novel Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir, and was wondering if the Astrophage mentioned in it is scientifically plausible. I gathered that it's probably not very possible, but Im just curious how much of it is accurate. I know this is right up your alley, and so when you can, i will appreciate you talking about these little organisms!
Notice how no one engages with that? Yea. So the flat earth thing is old. It’s not a serious topic. It’s just not. So less and less people will debate you anymore just like in this case and it will get less and less and less until no one speaks about a flat earth anymore. It is l due to humanity educating themselves with the knowledge that a flat earth or any flat planet, moon or small planet doesn’t exist in the natural world from what evidence we have up to now. We haven’t found one yet I should say.

Hello Professor Dave, I love your show! Water Bears are so weird looking! I've been most anticipated for the Arthropods, since they make up 80% of all animal species, which makes them the most successful animal phylum.

Tardigrades!!!!!!! They're so awesome!
should we send this to Kent Hovid, or just say all these were also on the big boat that bobbed around the waters for a month or so?
