I like to listen to books as I read them simultaneously. Can this ereader also use the audible app?
@@EricCouture315 yeah, absolutely, any android app. 🙂
For me a deal braker with Tab Mini C was dark gray-ish screen color, which made me go with Nova Air 2. Yes it looks alright with lights on but then iPad seems like a better option.
iPad shines direct into your eyes
Your reviews are a great way to get a feel for these niche products we don't really have access to. Thank you for your valuable work.
I'm new to the idea of small e-ink tablets and like the idea of combining reading and the ability to take notes all in one device. Also I like the idea of being able to occasionally write with a keyboard outside and on the go and not having to worry about the battery running out within the day. I won't be reading comics, but like the idea of using color in my notes and annotations. With all this in mind I'm not sure if the Tab Mini C or the older (and affordable) Nova Pro would work better for me.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
I am thinking getting this e-reader if it looks great for eBooks, eComics and eMangas. I wish it has been some SD card slot for expansion onto reading my books and comics on the go.
I'm very interested in this and the Boox Palma but I just wonder if the battery is good for both these devices. I like reading through apps in the app store and kindle
i use concepts sketching app. how is the latency on that ?
I didn't discover this video until I already had my tab mini C, and it popped up on my feed probably from all the review content in deciding. The funny thing is, I already had a Tab X, and after having the mini a few days I've come to similar conclusions: amazing companion for the tab X, less awkward for note taking, and I can read letter size magazines ok on it (it's a little small) as well as a lot of the Internet content I was reading (which I print to PDF in A5, I find that sizes it well)
@blevin591 How u find the ghosting so far in tab mini c ?
hi there. many thanks for the review, I was looking at one of these as an audio book player as well as an e-book reader (that I will load my own e-books onto with calibre or similar) my question is, although I know you can play mp3 and wav files as audiobooks, I would like to know if you can connect to a Bluetooth speaker for example to play the audio out of the device. I have speakers and a nest hub I want to play the audiobooks audio to, and a weird question can you play an audiobook at the same time as reading one?
@@4WheelsOnTheRoad Hiya, yes certainly you can connect a BT speaker.
Hmm, not 100% about the playing whilst reading, I'd expect probably yes, but it depends on the apps and app permissions that you have in place.
@@KitBetts-Masters thanks for letting me know
Could you please provide a link to a bucket case for the tab c mini? I think that's what you called it, but Google and Amazon aren't really bringing up useful results for me.
I'm loving this device so far, and unlike the larger ones, the size is perfect for my needs. However, the case magnets can get very annoying, and I've been looking for a non-magnetic case, but all the ones I've found have little straps on the corners, which I hate. I just want to find one similar to the ones my kindle and my phone click in to. Any assistance would be great, thanks!

You talked about elephant in the room. But you didn't tell the battery life for one full recharge ! Please do tell in comment. I have purchased one but battery discharges about 12% per hour when video is played and 10% when surfing being done. That means full charge goes to zero in 8-10 hours of use, is that the case with you too? Thanks. And nice review though !
It's advertised to have a bigger battery, but ir last for about 10 hours
For all Boox's great innovations, I'm stumped as to why their highlighter tool draws *over* the text to obscure the very words you wish to highlight, is that still the case? £450 is really quite steep, yet I guess it could double up as a recharger for you EV if you run out of power far from home! 😁
One of my comrades said, when I snapped a pic of the "highlighter", "I'm afraid I can only do censor"
@@blevin591 It is weird isn't it... blotting out the very thing you wish to highlight!
I bought the Palma for my husband, and I stole it from him😂
I really want this one, though. I prefer this size.
A tablet in this price range and no automatic brightness... I don't understand why companies do this. Everything on board, nice display, fast and usable... and then such a basic function is missing :(
Well, I guess, I will have to live with it (good enough Comic-Reader btw and kindle works like a charm), as Boox doesn't have a refund policy, neither. Another thing not worthy of the 21. century 😁
Can you use a Bluetooth keyboard and Word on this? Looking for a Freewrite alternative.
You can, it would be great for that!
DON'T BUY FROM BOOX
After 2 months of having my Mini Tab C the screen breaks. After talking to customer service they claimed there was some external force that caused it and it wouldn't be covered under warranty. This was in their case in a bookbag with other sensitive electronic none of which had an issue like this. They said I can pay another $270 to fix it. I think I'll just take the loss of $400 before it ends up being a loss of $670.
Hello. A short question: is the magnetic case of mini tab C compatible with the boox nova air? Just received a nova air and I can't seem to find a suitable original case for it....
How is this for web browsing eg browsing Amazon, eBay, reading news websites? I am trying to reduce my eye strain from my Pixel 7 and iPad Mini and am willing to accept no/poor video if I can cut down my headaches
Please don’t buy it . I bought it and it’s very slow and ghosting issues and the screen kept flashing. When I emailed customer service for return they tell you it’s normal. But n their website this tab mini c is advertising as super smooth experience. They tried everything but refused to gave me their return addresses. Until the 4 th time I ask to return and quoted the law in the uk for returning online purchases. Told them their refusal is breaking the law. I finally got it returned.
SOLD! Thank you 🙂
Does this go with google calendar?
Would surface pen work on this do you know?
how does this compare with the china versions tab8 and tab8c?
So is it worth it ? I am really confused 😁
Yeah, if the size fits in your tech combo, go go go!
Thanks i will go for it. Size is attractive enough however i wish even smaller to reach Papierwhite for ex. Size is attractive, but battery & weight make me worry.
On mine, I find ghosting performance isn't nearly as good as I'd hoped, considering all the hype. In particular, I find black text and graphics leave very visible after-images in color content. It makes it harder to use general Android apps than I'd anticipated, given all the talk about super refresh.
I'd love a b&w device of this size, but with the GPU like this has.
Does Boox Palma support a wacom pen?
I have the same question.
Related: I just received an email from Boox regarding the Tab Ultra C starting that they’ve discontinued the model. I was wondering what you think the issue is.
What !?!?!?!?!?!
I heard there was issues with the screen losing pixels. There was a huge QA problem.
They're also just about to announce new stuff, so maybe something to do with it...
How does writing feel compared to a regular Samsung tablet with s-pen?
I think I'll get myself this tablet soon. Been looking around quite a bit.
This seems to have what I want besides the colour screen.
Good size, android, 300ppi screen, not too much ghosting, though I did notice it when you were flipping the pages of that comic at the end
If anyone knows about another good ~8" android e-ink then please let me know
(did have a Meebook (which I heard is like likebook) but died after a couple days and the poorly translated OS wasn't great)
Yeah, there is a lot more ghosting on areas of colour, but very little on black and white bits.
Ahh! Great to know, thank you!@@KitBetts-Masters
Did you try the titanium nibbed pens on the doodroo mate? I know you said that the paper protector devoured the nibs like some ancient roman monster. Also I think the Tab X C might be announced, boox has something being announced on the 17th
I use titanium on doodroo. Personally I really like it but the doodroo feels a bit fabric-y, if that makes sense. The texture is almost like woven.
