LUIS ANDRE ALMARAZ I loved it. But it was not praised by critics. I just love fun movies. Cats and sonic both fall under that category. I love both. And they were both considered bad by most critics.

Noé Oliveira while surely it’s hyperbole to say its worse than any high school rendition of the song, the reaction and belief that this was an awful version, particularly compared to the Buckley or Paige versions, is near universal. Overacting (like a bad American Idol audition), and gets the mood/motivation all wrong. IMO). To watch the clip of Buckley from the 83 Tonys and then to watch this is the difference in experience between eating the perfect steak, and it leaving your body about 8 hours later.
I don’t care what people have to say about this movie, but this scene brought me into tears when I saw this in the theater.

I'm not hating on Hudson I think she's a very talented person though.

Les Mis is probably quite overrated. Its still, okay, but the stage production is a lot better. The acting was great, but the singing was a lot more mixed (cough cough Russel Crowe). And the live singing def didnt help.
Les Mid had great acting but the soundtrack is legitimately terrible. Tom Hooper is a fine director. Just keep him away from musicals.
I'm spoiled by Elaine Page's performance of the song that can be found on UA-cam too (1998 CATS Movie). I just don't see an old weathered cat in Ms. Hudson's makeup.

Regardless of the context or critiques of the actual movie or musical itself, this is one of my FAVORITE songs of any musical. Betty Buckley's 1983 Tony performance of this song is incredible and well worth a listen. I don't like Hudson's teary take on it, but I can appreciate its tribute to the original at the very least, and she really shows her vocal chops on that big note. Weird movie, weird premise for a story in general, but phenomenal song.

Once the damn ‘rona is gone hopefully there’ll be some good stuff released. Tenet looks fantastic. Also, if you’re looking for a good song, listen to ‘This Is Not Forever’ by Kate Miller-Heidke. The worst and most criminal part of this movie was that it turned great adaptations of the songs by great actors, such as this one, and made it laughable and uncomfortable to watch. Jennifer Hudson delivered a great vocal performance and you can tell that under the CGI she was really trying to convey feelings of sadness and despair, but the CGI killed it.
Jennifer Hudson is it of this movies' league. This performance is truly worthy of an Oscar. You FELT it. Omg, why, Cats??

I’ll be honest, totally did not think CATS was creepy when the trailers came out and legit thought everyone was nuts (keep in mind that at this point, all I knew about CATS was just one thing: Memory). Didn’t get a chance to watch it in theaters and felt even more discouraged from watching because of the negative reviews. This popped up in my recommended and I was like “Hell Yeah! One of my favorite Broadway songs sang by one of my favorite singers”. First of all, JENNIFER HUDSON IS A GODDESS and nothing will change my mind (just hope CATS doesn’t deter her from doing more acting roles because she’s that good). But yeah after watching this clip, I finally got what everyone was saying, it legit looks like someone made a live-action dimension of cats with human faces from SVTFOE.
