  • Here it is! A video on my pink vintage bathroom! My house was built 1938-1940 and many of the original fixtures and paint are still intact. There is a pink Standard American sink and tub, a beautiful vanity, laundry chute, and a tiled-out mosaic menora.

Lovely bathroom! You should get yourself a pink Standard toilet to match it!

my first apt had a ming green/black tile trim 30's bathroom very much like yours. all the walls were tiled. same style sink. it had a recessed medicine chest & inside was a slit with a label under it said RAZOR BLADES. they disposed of their razors in the slit which fell behind the wall. they even had a razor strop attached to a chrome railing attached to the side of the sink for sharpening the old fashioned straight razors! there was a metal hamper built into the wall. 2 round metal & frosted glass tube wall sconces on either side of medicine chest very art deco looking. also had big built in shelves for towels & accessories next to the tub. it was a roomy bathroom by todays apt standards. i really adored that bathroom.

Ah! Thanks for sharing! I love mint!! We have a mint bathroom downstairs, but it was renovated in the 70s or so (heavy wood cabinet) and probably again in the 90s. It's in poor shape, so I'm hoping to track down some mint green fixtures and restore it. I don't think we can get a vintage tub down the narrow stairs though! I wonder how many razors are trapped inside your wall? Thanks for watching!

I just adopted a ming green tub and sink for the downstairs bathroom! It's so beautiful and one of my favorite colors!

My nephew used to rent a house from the 1950’s and I loved the original aspects in the kitchen and bathrooms. Thank you for the tour.

Saw a video some years ago, they were renovating a house that had THE most perfect pink tile bathroom. No renovations had been done at all, everything was beautiful, everything worked--- and they ripped everything out. It killed me. p.s. Pink and black is FAB-- Hope you get the brown out, and I also love your glassblock window.

These stories are hard to hear. I know a space needs to serve the person well, but sometimes I think people should just buy a newer home if that's what they want. Thanks for watching!

I hope they at least sent the vintage fixtures to a HUD "restore", and not to a dump.

My grandmother had this color bathroom! Sink, toilet & bathtub were apricot/peach-y. No pics of it though.... This video was a trip to my little girl past! Thank you!

Oh wow! That's so cool and I'm glad to hear about the peachy color. I actually love corals and peach, so it works out really well for me! My husband's the pink-guy in the family, although he got the mint-green bathroom!

I've never seen a ( revolving, retractable? ) toothpaste station like that before. What a find! I could have lived there 10 years and not noticed that the pretty shiny square does something when you push it! The sink is my favourite part of your bathroom. It's really beautiful.

Haha! That's so funny - I may have been in the same boat as you and not have noticed it moved - my husband recognized it and played with it - he said his grandma had one!

Great bathroom! My old house was built in 1940 and the bathroom was peach and black...we had the rotary phones too but ours were in the upstairs hallway and kitchen! My sink color was just like yours.

Oh, my heart! I love the menorah! I collect menorahs and Judaica and that is just such a cool find!! If I saw that in a house I was looking to buy, I'd know it was meant to be! Now, to convince my gentile husband that we should totally do the same. 😂

I'm glad you like it! If we ever remodel, I'd love to carefully remove it and give it to someone! I'd love to see it turned into a framed piece of art or a table top.

We had a rotary phone in the bathroom it was old, i forget what they called the style. Maybe a candlestick style? Got rid of it when we got rid of our landline. It was useful! Love your bathroom, thanks for sharing.

I'm so glad I found this video! I'm thinking about gutting my 50s vintage bathroom (I have such mixed feelings about it) and I believe I have your color fixtures. They don't fade so you might have American Standard's Bahama Coral. It took years to pin down the color. There are a couple pieces on Etsy, including a toilet, but the price is almost obscene. Anyway, I'm not on Facebook but I do check UA-cam for replies. I wish you the best with your project. I'll get back to you if you have questions. 😊

Btw, nice vintage bath! The only thing I'd replace is that modern lo flo toilet with a period vintage one, like maybe a pink one piece "Standard".

I totally agree and have the FB and craigslist search notifications set up. The only thing I haven't figured out is if it's against code or not... will definitely be looking into it! Fortunately, lots of old homes in a 2 mile radius that haven't been updated, so I should be able to find something. I actually have a ming green sink and tub we picked up for the downstairs "rennovated-1990s" yucky/damaged bathroom - sitting in the garage waiting for a remodel!

According to Richard Nixon and others, President LBJ used to have meetings while "on the throne". I remember one King Of The Hill episode where Hank's boss called the staff to the men's room, and he held the meeting while in the stall doing his business. 😆😆 I've been on the phone with select friends while on the throne myself. I'd just say "LBJ!" and they'd know immediately. A phone by the toilet is not a bad idea.

Oh my gosh! So funny! I know most people take cells into the bathroom, so it's not THAT weird! Also, now that my dad is at that "elderly" stage, having a phone in there for emergencies is actually probably a good idea!

President Lyndon Johnson had telephones installed in all the bathrooms of the White House. He wanted to keep contact at all times! If you keep the phone, perhaps get plastic coat spray paint and spray it pink or black.

I love the 1939s design, colour was a major aspect of bringing sharp clean lines and contrast (black and whites, gold and blacks etc etc,) whilst soft edges grace geometrically configured fixtures and fittings. Then there’s the acid etched glass to creat privacy but maintaining flow and movement.
YOUR BATHROOM IS PINK WITH CONCRETE WALLS PAINTED IN PUBLIC SCHOOL LOCK VOMIT!
