Hey Josie. I've been following your channel since you got to Thailand. Love your nature and specially your laughter.😂 Michael seems to be very supportive with all the input he adds to your channel. You are getting better with each video so keep them coming.😊 Good luck and enjoy your time there. I just love Thailand.✨🥂❤️
Hi Dee! Thank you so much for following since the very beginning! That means a lot to me. Hahaha and thank you for liking my laugh! 😂 😂 He's very very knowledgable, I'm very fresh to thailand and the facts/culture so he's an amazing help! I try very hard to get better at making the videos so the fact that you have noticed that means everything. Thank you for commenting and letting me know, I appreciate all of your support for this whole time!! 💖 😊
Indeed we have to eat spicy curries with extra noodles and/or white jasmine rice to divert the spiciness. I would also buy a sweet dessert to eat right away to balance the spiciness. I think Kanchanaburi night market is very much like a true traditional Thai cultural food market.
Ahhh so we needed the rice with it! That makes sense! I had some churro things and mango sticky rice and it certainly helped! 😂 I LOVED that night market. I think it was so local to me, traditional is a great way to put it. I had lots of looks with my camera 😂 amazing experience!
I think you just had green curry with chicken. Normally, you would eat this with rice or rice noodles. It is too strong to eat the curry by itself as Thai curry is not considered soup but an entree in itself. The rice/noodles tones down the flavor, balancing it out. Another interesting point is for some reason, perhaps the heat/climate in Thailand, makes all the chili peppers there extra spicy in food compared to eating Thai food outside of Thailand.
You are a very brave girl to do the chille. Apparently, Apple or Banana is a better fire extinguisher than water...try it next time. Great video, well done.
hi Josie and Michael😁 I believed you ate khanom jeen gaeng keaw gai which means thai green curry with rice noodles and the dark meat is a pork blood, did you try to eat it? stay safe to both of you🙏🙏
Hi Pauline!! I love when I see you commented! 😁😁 Ahhhh i had no idea! I just wanted to pick something I wouldn’t have eaten normally at all haha. To be honest I didn’t eat the pork blood because I didn’t know what it was and I was still a little scared 😂 but now that I know I should try it one day, do you like it?
awww thank you Josie😍😍here in the Philippines we use pork blood as a sauce in a stew or another way is we grill it.. barbecue pork blood😅. sometimes i eat the stew not the grilled ones😅😂 love that you are trying different street food because I always want to see your reaction and Michael as well😁😂
That’s khanom jeen (rice noodle). You have them with spicy curry or soup of your choice (each region has their own specialty pairing), usually top with fresh veggies. In the northeast we also eat it as a side to som tam (spicy papaya salad). Green curry is usually not considered one of the spicy food among Thais but it’s definitely a spicy curry for sure.
G’day Josie & Michael.. as many commentators have already stated, the dish is called “khanom jeen kaeng keow waarn” or green curry with a sort of soft textured rice noodle..This particular type of rice noodles are often also eaten with “ som tum pla ra” or papaya salad in a fermented fish paste like substance..I wouldn’t typically recommend it to you, Josie because it’s pretty spicy & a tad on the stinky side lol..however, Michael.. if your feeling adventurous.. you could give it a go!
I love learning new things! I just saw it and was like okay! Lets go 😂 Yes I think your recommendation is correct and the spice was a bit much, but I tried!! 😂
The white noodle you have just eaten in the local market is called “Kanom-jeen” or Thai vermicelli eaten with curry. They usually eat the noodle with curry depending on regions area such as chicken green curry , red curry plate with fish in the south , so many version of curry 99 % will taste spicy just only a few version of sweet curry. However, Kanom-jeen is one of my fevorite. Enjoy your trip.
@@josieliftsthings That would be Mai - Sai - Prik (Don't put chilly).... Actually, in case of Mai - Ped, an apple to apple translation would be No Spicy. Therefore, by commonsense, the chefs shouldn't add any chilli. However, No Spicy for Thai standard still maintain some level of spiciness.
Hi Josie - Language tip : if you add the word "Ka" at the end of what you are saying, it will add extra politeness and show respect to the people you are talking to. For example, when you said "Chai" try "Chai-ka". It's comparable to "Yes" and "Yes please". It would make you even sweeter :). Love your vid as always !
Haha thank you! I actually already know this one! I use chai ka constantly! I just cut it out of the edit and also when I was talking I had said it maybe 3-4 times before that so just said ka instead of the whole thing. People in stores who serve me usually smile and giggle when I said chai, ka 😂 Not many people must say it!! 😂
What I like about the Thai night market is the food, there is a variety of local food available and the prices are cheap too. And I happen to like spicy food, so whatever spicy Thai food I can enjoy it. As the Thai say, "Mai Phet Mai Kin" means " Not Spicy Not Eat".😁😁😁
YES! I LOVE the night market and the food. Hahah unfortunately because I cant do spicy half of the delicious options are off the table for me, but maybe one day I'll get used to it so I can try them 😂
in the bowl is Rice Noodle with curry in Thai name call "ขนมจีน" (Ka-Nom-Jeen). You can eat it with a 4 style of curry. as Central style : the taste not too spicy. It is made mainly in coconut milk curry. North style : the taste a little spicy and sour. It is made mainly in clear curry. Northeast style : the taste a spicy. Southern style : the taste is very hot and spicy. all of style must be eaten with fresh vegetables.
Ha ha ha green curry no spicy for your guys maybe to much chili 🌶 anyway your guys the best can eat almost anything in market love it 😍 hope your guys having good time Anything look good try it 🌶😛👍🙏😍😆🤟
Loving the channel guys but do have to correct you on something...you do have Mango and Sticky Rice in Australia...I know I have eaten it in Australia!! Obviously it is Thai Restaurants and will set you back a lot more than 10 baht but it is there I assure you
@@josieliftsthings ha ha I left my job in Nov 2019 decided to partnership with my friend running Thai restaurant in Petersham. It’s approximately 15 mins by train from Sydney central station. Come over if you’ve got a chance to visit Sydney.
Yes it was boiled blood. The soft 'noodle' is likely bamboo shoot. Some Tips: 1. "mai ped" means NO spicy; however this does not apply to your meal because it is a prepared dish - the spice is what it is as it was made. Of course she is not going to turn down a sale. 2. water does not really help with spice. Dairy (milk, yoghurt, etc) mutes the effect of spice. 3. if you want to stand out as a tourist be sure to purchase pad thai & mango sticky rice whilst wearing elephant pants and/or chang shirt. 4. get out of Bangkok, Phuket, Pattaya, Chiang Mai to experience the REAL Thailand
As a Thai who can't eat spicy foods I know how you feel 😂 always remind not to believe in "Not spicy" from Thai people as I didn't believe in my parents when they said it either lol

Hi, besides mango as dessert and fruit , you can eat them with jasmine rice as main dish , as well as pineapple.
I love pineapple! That sounds delicious thank you!

Omg you’re killing me with all of the street food 😳😭🫣
The street food is the BEST part 😂😂 I have too much because it’s so amazing here hahaa
Thai say "Mai-Ped" which means a little spicy
"Ped-Nid-Noi" which means medium spicy
"Ped-Mai-Mak" means a very spicy for foreigners.
What about no spice at all? 😂 😂

Haha thank you I'll be saying that one now! I have noticed that even if they dont add chili- the food is already spicy 😂 And too spicy for me hahahaha
It is Khanom Jeen = white rice noodle with curry+ veggie
Thank you!! 🙏🏻😁
You can find mango sticky rice at Thai town in Syd 😆
