Did you manage it? I have my performance this evening and I think I have about 2/3 of it but for the rest I either miss contrapuntal entries (and belatedly realise that was our line) or come in with another part when there are bars rest, sing the soprano or the bass or wait for my neighbour to sing the first note of the phrase! The tenor and alto parts seem less memorable: there are fewer hooks for the brain to latch onto.
Do you use falsetto when hitting the high notes ? With original key of Do=D, I don't think I can hit those high notes without using falsetto. Only if the key is lowered to such as Do=C or Do=Bes, I will probably be able to do that. I am actually baritone (medium-high), but was selected to sing tenor for other songs recently. I am trying to push to the limit for how far I can hit high notes without falsetto. I realize, though, there is a limit for me.
Any hints on how to learn this from memory? All I have been told so far is to keep listening over and over again and it will eventually register but that hasn't happened so far.
Memorizing (or internalizing, as I prefer to say) is a challenging process, so keep at it! For some, memorization by rote and repetition aren’t enough, there might be photographic memory (memorizing what the sheet music looks like), muscle memory of your voice remembering what to do next, and even a structural memory of the form of the work. Even if you’re not up on your music theory, dividing this chorus into smaller sections and memorizing one section at a time might work for you! Good luck!
@@StevenSeigartThanks for your tips. I graduated in music many years ago so you'd think I'd be able to do this easily but, in fact, I think any knowledge I have is working against me.
Gracias ¡ muy armónico y bello para el Alma sensible a la armonía !
Real nice help in achieving my goal: sing this chorus, at least, by heart for show.

Ty for this. I'm trying to clutch studying this piece for our easter vigil mass tomorrow. Finding it hard to sight read this piece
