For who's curious, a brief explanation of the showtape. Basically the whole gig of the tape is this: Mama Grandbags is "Mother Italy" who invited here her sons from various parts of Italy to perform a song for us. In order: -Pete is "Bepi", comes from Venice, and plays the accordion. -Repete is "Salvatore", comes from Catania, and plays the harp. -Billy Bill is "Cesarino", comes from Rome, and plays the piano. -Billy Boe is "Gino", comes from Milan, and plays the drums. -Billy Wilbur is "Gennariello", comes from Naples, and plays the mandolin. - Billy Bob is "Tognàz", comes from Rimini, and plays the bass. -And lastly, Gooney Bird is "Francesco", simply "a dear old friend of us", as Mother Italy presents him. The story is very simple, with Mother Italy presenting each bear first, then encouraging them to play their songs. After a bit of indecision on who shall start, Repete picks up the challenge and goes first, followed by the others. Gooney Bird is the classic comedy relief character, a bit rude and out of lines, just like in the original CEI tape. Calling Mother Italy old, teasing the bears and stuff. He gets a bonk or two in the head here as well. Besides that, some simple jokes, and a couple lines between each song, there is not much else. After every bear has sung his song, Mother Italy asks all the bears to "demonstrate they can all do something together" by singing with her a lyrical song that is quite widely recognized as a theme for all Italy. All in all, a good showtape. The bears are well voiced, but quite deeply stereotyped - names, accents and behaviours are all very typical of each area they come from, exaggerated almost in a comedic way. Still, the acting is mostly good. They hired good VAs for this. The programming is not too terrible either, it shows they tried to make it look nice. Clearly a show made to bring traditional music to kids, and teach very blandly about how different each area of Italy is with dialects and songs. The ending song a nice conclusion about the shared identity Italians have.
For all the guys that want to know the history of this show, it was bought from Creative Engineering in 1982 and for a year it was used the original English tape. After that it was used the Italian tape that you ear in the video. The show was dismantled sometimes in the 90's because of the poor conditions of the show
Correction - in 1991 the show was still in english, as this video proves - ua-cam.com/video/6HJdxnX7a6Y/v-deo.html I don't know how long they kept it like this. Maybe the purchase date is not 1982 but later? Seems weird to keep it in english for so long...
eh si, qui in Italia, almeno da me al sud, non abbiamo mai avuto veri e propri spettacoli con audio-animatronics paragonabili allo Studio C, ai Cyberamic o a qualsiasi creazione di Aaron Fetcher. Anche io sono stupito dal vedere gli Hard Luck Bears in Italia, ma avrei preferito avere uno Showbiz pizza Italianizzato, con tanto di Arcade ed altro. Peccato, se non fosse stato per il Concept Unification non sono avremmo visto i bot di seconda generazione nei ristoranti, ma la stessa catena sarebbe arrivata in Europa

A un certo punto partono orsi che cantano, una brutta copia di Country Bear Jamboree, mai vista prima. Ho cercato cosa fosse, ed eccolo qui. Pazzesco. Grazie per avermi tolto un punto di domanda! :)
Potresti caricarlo su youtube? sarebbe molto interessante vedere come erano due anni prima. Probabilmente si muovevano meglio di come lo fanno in questo video!

I’ve noticed that these masks are probably that old at this point in the 90’s except for Billy Wilbur, somehow uses the Billy Bob mask from the early-mid 80’s, in-fact the later HLB shows for Billy Wilbur uses Billy Bob’s Mask from 1980, 1982 and 1990 versions, but I think this one seen in The video in actually the 1982 one but I’m not sure.

@@animatronicsclayguy7193 This was the last (if not, 2nd last) HLB show to be produced. It used a few Rock-afire parts so I wouldn't be surprised if some cosmetics didn't fit or ripped slightly.

The Hard Luck Bears show is just a predecessor of the RockAfire Explosion. Which means the RockAfire Explosion wasn’t built back in 1979.
