What an early morning that was. I've still got the VHS tape. I love Malcolm Reilly's reply about what got us through. "Bulldog spirit mate. There's nothing more dangerous than an Englishman with his back to the wall".
What a performance against a team with wally and sterlo at halfback! I think beating aus at rugby league is the biggest challenge in world team sport. Just hope we can do it over a 3 test series one day. God rest Mike Gregory and Roy Powell- you made your mark.
I am no rugby league fan but remember watching these highlights with my now departed brother. Andy Gregory and Henderson Gill were unreal in this match. Hanley a superb steward. I even remember when Mike G died thinking that was that fellow who scored v Aussies 20 years ago and what a leader he was.
Cheers Woody for putting this up was over there on a supporters tour and this day made the whole trip. On the trip we had Arthur Buntting, Roger Millwood and Phil Lowe looking after us.Happy days.
Love that Gill try. Legendary. Fair play to the Aussie commentator selling it well. I played against a team that Loughlin coached and spoke to him about that try. Very humble and appreciative that someone still speaks of it. Especially seeing I was only five when this happened. Loved watching Great Britian.
I'm usually a union fan but that was terrific. I too remember ' and he does a bit of boogie" even after all these years and always makes me smile. Those blokes were as hard as iron.
It's amazing to think that Mike Gregory and Roy Powell are no longer with us. They are the powerhouse second rowers that help Great Britain win this game.
Hahaha Gregory flat out, Chariots just jogging along behind him.. Martin Offiah was a real thoroughbred who made other speedsters look like cart horses... No wonder Billy Whizz Robinson said he was the quickest player he'd ever seen..
And to think folk go on about Offiah's defence look at the hit 5.56 theres some reet dicks out there this was perhaps the greatest GB performance ive ever seen , Andy Gregory incredible and Ford so welusive
Summer rugby has ruined British rugby league. There is probably only one player from the 'super' league era of full time professionals that would get in this team(cunningham).

Absolute classic.... Good memories of growing up as a youngster watching rugby league... . "And he does a bit of a boogie"

Kevin ward. What a player
Loved it, to see the Wigan , Leeds & Bradford fans celebrating together was magic
RIP Roy Powell,Mike Gregory and Peter Jackson legends all.
And Darryl Eastlakes the excitable commentator who will always be doing a bit of a boogie in Rugby League heaven.
RIP Hugh Waddell too now.
Andy Gregory and the game of his life
Brilliant! i remember this very memorable win well. Back in the good old days of Rugby League.
It's amazing to think that Mike Gregory and Roy Powell are no longer with us. They are the powerhouse second rowers that help Great Britain win this game.
What's amazing about then no longer with us?
@@dleigh9997 The comment should surely be that it's sad that Mike Gregory and Roy Powell are no longer with us
Was 17 on my first boys on holiday to newquay ...early kick off .. wasnt sober all day ...best holiday ever
Hanley's dummy at 1:05 a classic
scrums were contested back then? I wish Id been born by then to see that.
Little Andy Greg, kept putting the ball in the 2nd row though, lol
Hahaha Gregory flat out, Chariots just jogging along behind him.. Martin Offiah was a real thoroughbred who made other speedsters look like cart horses... No wonder Billy Whizz Robinson said he was the quickest player he'd ever seen..
Those were the great days of football
Gregory to Gregory ...sounds like a law firm
these were the halcyon days of rugby league great players and real scrums
Back in the days of proper international rugby league. Love the comment about Sam Backo scoring tries with gay abandon
Are they doing proper scrums? Rather than league cuddles?
"well andy gregory was like ferrit up a rabbit hole then"
Wally wasn't the king that day, little Andy Greg was
Henderson Gill what a legend, the thighs, this was a great win for GB, against a great side.
Class , love to be TEAM GB again
Laughlin, great player
Forward pass from Loughlin to Gill for the try, ah well the Aussies have had there moments too over the years
It was really Australia v Yorkshire and Lancashire.
No its really nsw and qld v Yorkshire and Lancashire

Go Big Sam Backo
I suppose watching the roosters win is rare for you too eh :)
Australia loosing loved this big style, the aussies don't like loosing had it too good for too long about time they had a taste of defeat
That's entertainment
a big international rleague match in australia and so many empty seats
last decent side we had!
Ringo Brown
