Unpopular opinion here but I truly believe Casey loved Dawson more than she loved him. It broke my heart this season every time he had to assure her of his love even when she was in the wrong. That being said I do agree the final hour of the finale was a little abrupt. I can only assume the writers learned of Monica Raymund's plans too late to do more than have Dawson get a job offer at the last minute. Still if everyone remembers seasons 2 & 3 & 4 this wouldn't be the first time Dawson walked out on Casey when the going got tough. That's why I got such a laugh last season when Casey stayed at Severide's and Dawson yelled at him that that's not how a relationship works. I for one am hoping Casey sticks to firefighting next season and stays single but I'm sure the writers will either turn him into Severide with all the lady problems or have him become reckless and jeopardise his job and the safety of others. I hope not. Jesse Spencer deserves better than to have all his hard work of building his character over these past 6 seasons to have it ruined over sloppy writing.
I kinda agree with hat, but i still shit them whether they are together or not. Also I feel like men just do that. Men assure women that they love them. Also I think that's just how Gabby was. I think she kinda did her own thing. Also Derek Haas mentioned in his q&a today that Monica gave them plenty of notice which doesn't make sense with how their finally panned out. They made it worse dawsey wise then necessary. it's painful! thanks for your comment
CrazyforChicago I read Derek Haas' comments too. It sounds to me that he loved both the character gabby and her portrayer soooo much that he couldn't bear to give dawsey a permanent ending. I respect that. But what a mess he's made for himself. The ending may give us hope that gabby will come back at some point but what does that do for Matt in season 7. I can't imagine Jesse Spencer sticking around for too many seasons if all his character does is moon for his wife. And I can't imagine the series surviving without him. While Jesse has stated he loved the finale overall he also had misgivings about how dawsey played out. I wonder what Monica thought about it. I always thought if she ever left the series gabby would die doing something heroic. Or way in the back of my mind die in childbirth her last act giving Matt the child he's always wanted.
Yes, I completely agree with everything in this comment. I really don't envy the job the writers have when they sit down to do season 7. They have written a #dawsey storyline for every season so far, whether they are together or apart but now suddenly, Dawson won't be there so what do they do with Casey? It's almost like they built up the relationship for 6 years without ever really thinking about what the impact would be if either Jesse or Monica left and now they find themselves in the situation they're in. I just really hope common sense prevails and they can sort out some decent storylines for Casey- have him focus on his career, have another look into his past or even have him still be a foster carer for a child that needs it- after all, they keep reminding us how much he wants to be a Dad.
