Hi everyone! I forgot to mention in the video that I used swim fabric I had at home for the lining. Also the material of the dress is actually great for swim, for those of you wondering. If you want to try this out, be smart with your choice of fabric, choose something that has a lot of stretch and possibly waterproof 😄❤️👙
hey April just thinking because in a lot of ur vids u make the outfits on Ur mannequin but then u have to adjust it to fit u maybe u should get a custom made mannequin to fit u so u don't need to adjust it for u
Since you forgot to mention it, it is important to use an elastic that is specifically for swimsuits. Otherwise, once it's wet from swimming, the elastic will stretch out too much and the swimsuit won't stay together properly :)
For anyone trying this with sensitive skin, I highly, HIGHLY recommend encasing ANY exposed elastic in fabric before wearing to prevent a rash or skin irritation. Great tutorial!
great video! for a little less bulk in the bottoms you can serge the back and front crotch seams with the lining and main fabric at the same time- just flip one of the linings to the other side, which you flip back after serging to cover the seam- have a look at commercial undies or swimsuits and you'll see what I mean. Its also great to do this to the sides before adding elastic, also for less bulk
I found your channel when watching a video by watching Victoria annicka (I think that's how you spell it). She was saying how great your videos are and I'm glad she did, I love what you do! :)
Great job young lady! I have been sewing for years and love refashioning. You always give me ideas for new stuff. Love the bikini. so cute. Way better than anything you could buy off the rack.
wow who would of thought of making a swim suit out of a dress. Brillant! Thank you so much for sharing your video. I think this would be great for the grand daughters!Ty
I think I saw that same dress at savers once! I liked it but I wasn't feeling like doing any big upcycling projects so I decided to leave it be, totally regretting it now!!
April! :) Just found yr channel! You are crazy talented!!!!!!! Love yr channel! Can I ask you how we can order a mannequin with our own body measurements?
Buy a used one off of Amazon ! I love sewing I think everyone should learn ! Lol. I'm also looking into selling mine for cheap. You can buy it from me if you want.
This is so cute! Love the pattern of the fabric. How does the bikini handle water? Is the lining like swimsuit fabric, or is the bikini more for aesthetics? :)
Neat! Could you do one with an underwire bra with fishnet straps? I plan on making one for summer but am unsure whether to use actual elastic to do the knotted straps or just strips of swimsuit fabric.
It would be such a great idea for me to try to make a bathing suit! It's so hard to find a bathing suit that has full coverage on my butt because it's so big & I want to cover my stretch marks

Not to sound rude but I'm just saying she mentioned it in the comments very helpful tip tho😊
+Laura 3123 She mentioned the lining, not the elastic ^_^
+Annie Russell oh I just realized sorry :)
+Laura 3123 It's alright, you were being helpful!

Won't the cotton material get saggy when it wet in the water?
You should open your own clothing line!
