      I like the part where it keeps opening its mouth to get away from the bit pain. AND IT SHOWS!!

      horseygurl143 since wall street won't answer, I will. From the point where he does a 180 to the final half circle leading up to the actual roping, the horse throws his mouth open a few times. This is a horse who 120 days ago was a WILD mustang. If this horse was in pain, he would be swishing his tail and pinning his ears. He would also be confused as to what his rider is communicating. I think wall street should keep her comments to the price of tea in China. This guy knows horses, he can train one for me anyday but, I know I wouldn't be able to afford him.

      Carmen Bailey I have a Masters in Equine Neuro-science. Surely that gives me some basis for my opinion other than just, you know, having an unqualified opinion.

      Wall Street you were quick to answer me but not horseygirl. What's your opinion on the 2 min 15 secs the horse doesn't even have a bit?

    all I can see beyond the hype and "tricks" is a relaxed horse and a trainer that has given him one hell of a start! The horse was happy and ready to tackle anything just because Mr. Kerr asked him. Every horse should be that relaxed and should feel that kind of trust and connection with thier rider.

I laughed, cried and laughed some more at how totally cool the relationship between him and the horse is. Very trusting and the horse seemed to really enjoy what he was doing! Great job!!! If he ever comes to NC, I sure would love to meet him!

    I'd like everyone who uses a bit to watch the last half of this video. See what he achieved with no bit in the horses mouth? incredible. On a horse that is only 120 days into training. Do you not think the horses you've had for years could at least canter round a ring and do a few jumps without a bit...?

      No worries I got a trainer and this mustang is so calm for being 4 years old now. He is not a hot headed type and he learns a bit slow, but quickly gets it. My trainer took him in for a month and now he is helping me work with him. Riding is good he don't buck just once in a while when my trainer is cantering him. he bites at the feet, because he is a bit lazy and doesn't want to go fast, but he is learning.

    I wonder why they don't always use fake calves like this one. Would be more fair to the ropers and the calves would appreciate it.

    • @meghanmurphy2623
      @meghanmurphy2623 10 років тому +6

      people who control them could possibly be making it easier on some ropers then others because they want that person to win or something else etc. With a cow it's all fair game, no one knows what its gonna do.

    • @exoxiumin1017
      @exoxiumin1017 10 років тому

      Meghan Murphy Pretty right, out that the cow get's hurt mostly like EVERYTIME and i hate see animals be treaten like this -.- Hate seeing people hurt them, so a fake calve... not that bad idea :/

    • @meghanmurphy2623
      @meghanmurphy2623 8 років тому +3

      Believe it or not cows are a lot tougher then they look. If anything they get more damaged from being stupid on an average day in the pasture. I raise cattle. And if a cow wants to hurt you it's gonna do more damage then a human could ever do. Cattle were made to withstand many things from weather to possible threats. A lot of ranchers still release a herd of cattle on lets say a 1 million acre piece of land and don't see them for months at a time. Their skin is thick and their bones and bodies are made to withstand many things. Cows are sturdy and how many times do you see a calf that doesn't get up and walk off like nothing has happened. I personally don't like roping that much either in situations to catch a cow for medicating or other stuff okay I see that. But I don't care for it because my cattle are my pets. But honestly roping doesn't do as much damage as you think. Some cows live in mountains and face the possibility of falling off. And a lot of times a cow will get up from that fall, they may be bruised and be limping for a bit, but their bodies are made to hold up in extreme situations. You think the cow is hurt but its really not, they don't get hurt every time. And cows are smart animals they only spend a small amount of time being roped. After a while they figure it out if they run straight they get roped. So some wont even leave the gate or they will go in a different direction to not get roped.

  • @loas5154
    @loas5154 10 років тому +1

    I think the work itself is great, but first I don't want to know what he does to a completely wild horse that it's doing something like this after 120 days and second I wouldn't ask it to do this in public. The people are stupid, I think at every competition with horses (or animals in general) the people should just shut up. Horses are so much more sensible towards noises than we are.
    This horse is absolutely stressed... for example
    2:29 chewing and licking (I don't think he's doing it because he feels so comfortable so it rather means he's stressed)
    2:56 look at his head, his ears, his whole facial expression...
    The dude is great, yeah, I like that he gives the horse security and tells him he's a good boy. But showing him in public (already) just seems so wrong to me...

      Luna let me tell you a little story. wild horses are over populated so do you know what their doing? they round a bunch of them up and kill them. the extreme mustang make over is raising awareness and showing people that these horses are worth adopting thus giving them a chance to be loved by someone and have a good life.
      ~ someone who ones a 4 year old mustang
