for mandolin in GDAE tab i like Fmaj 2300 and I like 2301 for the full F .... in my early videos I used a 2331 variation.... yep... lots of ways to play the chords l( for Am I like 2355 as a 2nd fret barre..... 2200 is an easy A5 that can work for Am or A ;)

Josef Venable kind of a regaee mandolin part. I rest the hand on the strings to kill them.... then a down up... coming back to the strings to kill them.... then a down.... then starting over.... Any advice to a mandolin beginner who has trouble transitioning between chords? Fiddling comes easy but for the life of me I can't switch chords to save my life

First of all, it pays off so well in the end to practice really slowly. As slow as you need to in order to transition smoothly in time to the rhythm, even if it feels ridiculous. Also, usually you can find the common note between chords and use it as a bit of an anchor when transitioning to make it easier to remember where to put your fingers (for instance, keeping your first finger on the 2nd fret of the D string when transitioning between a C chord and an Am since both chords use the same note)

Pick two chords and practice switching between them slow as possible. Gradually speed up, but anytime you start making a lot of mistakes go back to the fastest speed where you can do it perfectly. Then add more chords to the progression. Once you've got the muscle memory you'll be able to do it fast as you want.
