Spring Walleye fishing can be excellent if you can dial in the right pattern and presentation. In this video I catch a quick limit of Walleye while jigging worms on the upper Columbia River.

Have you been out chasing Walleye this spring?
I read this comment, but not the author. I was about to reply with, "that was his very last sentence! "
Got skunked or more so, the wind blew me off the lake. Bit cold still in Idaho
Yes, but I've been riding the struggle bus here in NE Ohio. 1 walleye in 2 outings. Warm, sunny and very clear conditions are not helping either
Have been out chasing them in Idaho but has been pretty slow
Tried soda lake last week. Wish I would have watched this first! I was trolling in a kayak but should have been jigging. Did well on trout at a different seep lake though!
I don’t jig as much as I use bottom bouncers, but even when I’m bottom bouncing I use a bait caster with a flipping switch. I actually use my max dlc digital line counters because they have the flipping switch and they pull double duty for Kokanee fishing. The quantum accurist is another good bait caster with a flipping switch I have used as well.
Converting earth worms into walleye tacos Yummy 😋 😋 😋
Set the hook so hard you got a shock gobble!😂 I’m with ya I’d rather land fish with hook sets than miss em. Great video
I use a quantum accurist pt. They come with a flipping switch and are built like a tank but really light weight. I use mine for lake trout, walleye, and whitefish in northwest Montana. Keep putting out the great content.
Awesome video!
baitcaster: looks like you need a left hand reel.
Agreed or I could just put the camera boom on the other side of the kayak and jig on the left 😂🤣
@@spiltmilt good to see you're somewhat ambidextrous. nice feature for kayak fishing!
Okuma makes a reel with the flipping brake that you can turn off and on. I will look at the one I have on my bobber rod when I get home and comment what model it is.
It's not okuma. It's quantum accurist s3. Pretty sweet reel has a lever that you switch it from flipping to free spool
Hook sets are free baby😂😂😂
Walleye has been really weird this year. With the water flow off lake Spokane. Water temps been cold. Got a couple 22 and 18 inchers last week bare super slow death with night crawler hook 3 onz bottom Walker . They would barley bite it then you pull it out of rod holder drop your pole back was they only way to catch them ..
Yeah strange water year. They haven't let any water out of Roosevelt but the other pools are all low.
@@spiltmilt I gotta fish a tournament tomorrow we pre fished a week ago. Had to put smaller tires on the trailer to launch the boat. And they're is no snow on the south side of mnt Spokane. Isn't looking good..
I chased some Smallmouth at Potholes, but the bit was weak. I only caught a couple and lost one.
Try the "Mega Bass Dark Sleeper". Looks just like a sculpin.
I've used sculpin shaped tube jigs with good success
Dude love your vids. Really makes me want to trade in my paddle board for a kayak and go chase kokenee and and walleye up here by Boise.
Definitely worth it, kokanee are delicious and fun.
Caught my first walleye on Roosevelt by drifting and jigging night crawlers. Wind was unreal, total struggle to stay straight vertical. Any recommendations for fishing Roosevelt?
Use really heavy jigs at Roosie 3/4 to 1 oz will help you keep contract with the bottom. I
Redemption!
Are you using a weight on the that jig setup with a worm?
I’m curious what kind of rod you use for jigging in this video
Couple tech questions my friend. What camera mount do you use on your kayak, and are you a GoPro or DJI action camera user? Nice Walters brother.
This is the camera boom I use from RAM Mounts. You can use the code HICKS10 to save 10% rammount.com/products/rap-411-18-18-a-gop1
For filming I use the DJI Action 4 camera: amzn.to/3QztapY
What mount do you use for your fish finder? I’ve been looking all day for a helix 7 mount and cannot find one for the life of me! Thank you!!
I use this rammount.com/products/ram-202-24-354-tra1u

@@spiltmilt thank you so much!!
Tyler… watching this video, I gotta ask, doesn’t the right hand reel drive you nuts? Switching hands, reaching over to close the release. I went to left hand retrieve years ago and never looked back. Is it just what you’re used to?
It does. I want to get a left hand one with the auto flip for the drag system.
@@spiltmilt I switched back before my kayak days. The left hand rudder makes it even more difficult I bet. I have seen how when trolling you sometimes use one lefty and one righty on the corresponding sides of the yak. That’s an interesting idea.
When I jig I try to float with the wind. I notice that a lot of times I find my bait getting far ahead of me while I move. How do you best deal with keeping your life under your yak while drifting?
Use heavy lures, thin braid to reduce drag, and I use my pedal drive or motor to keep everything as vertical as possible
Is this video recent trip you made?
Hook sets are free
Gobbler at 17:24.....❤
