@@TameImpala521This is definitely true about the reggae sound but I don’t think Chad (drummer for 311) has his snares dropped from the bottom head. Lars Ulrich however that’s a different story (i.e. St Anger)😂😂😂 But here he’s definitely using a piccolo snare, which he pretty much used for the first four or five 311 albums. The piccolo sounds really tight and gives a really nice pop/crack sound that like you said accommodates for a reggae or funk style. Dude... I remember in my pre-teens and early teens I was such a 311 fan that when Soundsystem came out I actually *reserved* a copy of it from Sam Goody even though there was NO way that damn CD would sell out lol. I was 11 when it came out and dragged my mom all the way into town (I lived in the country) to get this CD. I also remember being up late at night in the summer and this video came on MTV and I screamed so loud I was afraid my mom would hear me from the basement. I was SO EXCITED that 311 was actually on MTV again. I jumped up back and forth between the couch and loveseat the entire time the song was on. This really shows my age: Sam Goody, MTV actually showing videos, remembering very well when this album came out lol... But in all seriousness this album got me through a really severe depression at that age. So bad that I even had to switch schools because everyone thought I was a loser for being sad all the time.
