  • In a four-part series, Dr. David M. Peña-Guzmán discusses Nietzsche's Genealogy of Morality. In this opening lecture, he discusses the Preface and what we learn from it about Nietzsche's genealogical approach to moral themes. What is genealogy? How does it differ from a more typical historical account? How does it differ from evolutionary narratives? Special attention is paid to Nietzsche's remarks about Paul Rée's pro-social theory of moral sentiments.

Francis Collins (A Christian and head of the Federal Genome Research Project) points out that there are no genes for morality.
Though Nietzsche uses it in his usual psychological adaptation of a previously accepted paradigm (let's not be fooled here, Darwin's evolution ).Always the anti or inverted view ( his use of perspective, concept or individuality) . It is not balanced and comes from the dark end of the grey scale, not a balance ( left-wing ( dark) vs right-wing( blue). Understood in the podcast as out of the blue. That is the correct observation in light of its projection of Nietzsche, as he is more than anyone spitting out blurbs of aphorisms like a comic book character filling in the bubble. Of hot air, An inflated ego that bursts.
Plato opens the Republic by descending. So true Nietzsche descends; that is indeed the pattern of his work . Only as I mentioned, to twist up the roots . I.e. Zararoastra, The original living Prophet from Iran, brings into his Ubermunche though with opposite values ( dark end of the grey or value scale) Where light becomes dim.
Philosophy is like math; one has to figure out the equation, not identify with it.
