I'm sure anyone else who has lost their person will understand how it feels once you get past the initial anger and hurt, it's a kind of limbo, where you feel numb, but also feel everything possible. The world kinda dissapears, and you're stuck in the background of life. Your life, everyone else's life as well as the life you had and had planned with your partner, trying to make sense of this reality that doesn't have them in it anymore. You kinda just exist, jumping between understanding the reality, and not registering the reality at all. That being said, I think the song is very much open to interpretation for every different person. For me though, it's very accurate. Weirdly, I've loved this song since high school. Long before I ever met her. And I always dreaded the idea of it becoming a reality. But anyway. I digress.

thats the way the lead singer explained it. when i read that this song made so much sense to me as i experienced such a thing in my life. that post period high is almost a auto pilot...at least it was for me after, very hard to let the past go sometimes and it can remain with one for years till end of life.

I always wanted her to be happy, but if I had known it would come at the cost of never being happy again myself, I wouldn't have ever asked her out. I would willingly give up the happiest memories of my whole life if it meant I could forget all the things that killed me inside.
This album had so many great songs! Although they had big hits on the radio, in a way Third Eye Blind was underrated. Seems not many people knew how many great songs were on this album. I remember I took a chance and bought their album and was VERY glad I did. I tried to tell people how great it was.
