My top 10 list would be: Final Fantasy 7 Castlevania SOTN Crash Team Racing Metal Gear Solid Legend of Legia Resident Evil Megaman Legends Tomb Raider Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver Legend of Dragoon
Such a fun system to collect for! Next to the Atari 2600, the most games I have for any one console is the PS1. Both are similarly cheap to collect for and have such a massive variety of stuff to choose from. And imports are a total pleasure for the PS1, that could be another lengthy video on its own. Nice list of games there, and the beauty of it is that my list would be almost 100% different :)
SAME...my dad doesn't know shit about consoles or anything...i asked for an Xbox....and i got another Xbox...1. Everybody that Christmas was laughing hysterically and later on the next day we returned it for a 360 lmao.
Yeah, when I was young, I had an SNES, MAY have had a Nintendo 64 (I can't remember), then a PS1, PS2, Gamecube, Wii. I also much later on (in the past few years) bought a PS4 (which I gave to my brother for his birthday), and recently, a New 3DS XL. Other portable systems I had was the Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, Game Boy Advance SP. I think for many of us, Nintendo is near and dear to our hearts as it was and still is one of the only console systems to offer mostly main-brand (Non-third-party) games made by the company itself. Nintendo is really going somewhere new with the Switch with trying to get more third party software involved, and I just hope they execute their plans well and it all works out great and finally revitalizes Nintendo like it really needs and rightfully deserves.
One of my first PlayStation memories, leaving ape escape running to go to the shops with my mum to get a memory card after remembering we needed one P:
Funny shit because I did that like a decade later than you did. But I did it with the ape escape on the psp😂😂😂😂 great memories. Funny cause you triggered an ancient memory, and that it was the same damn game😂😂
Metal Jesus I need to be careful when watching your videos. In the past month I bought an NES, dreamcast, and PS1... You should make a video on how to not destroy your bank account with collecting haha
DS x Reactions I’m about to buy a retron 5 so I don’t have to get a ton of systems, hopefully I don’t regret this 😂 (Edit: I don’t like that controller it comes with, so I’m getting a Super Nintendo controller, and that makes me somewhat concerned but the system would let me play all my games I found without me having to track down 4 different systems that I don’t even have a TV for)

@@subswithnovideos-ef6ck fair enough ..a pc is a real system ..as real as it gets ..my ps4 runs all my ps1 and ps2 games on my emmulator ..i just care about playing the game..so it works for me
Fun fact: Soul Edge was renamed Soul Blade for the American release because there was some dickhead named Tim Langdell who owned an old PC game company named Edge Games, and he claimed to have a trademark on the word "Edge" and always threatened to sue anyone that put Edge in a game or product. It was only recently that the trademark was cancelled because he tried to sue EA in 2010, but of course he lost the case because... well he was just some trademark troll trying to sue one of the largest gaming companies in the world for infringement.
Here are some of my favorites that didn't get mentioned: - Spyro the Dragon 1-3 (Great platformers and a lot of fun for all ages) - Tekken 3 (imho the best fighting game on the system) - T'ai Fu: Wrath of the Tiger (A game by Activision and Dreamworks that is basically a badass video-game version of Kung Fu Panda) - Toy Story 2 (Another great platformer and one of the best licensed games out there) - Crash Team Racing (An amazing Mario Kart clone with Crash Bandicoot and friends) - Tomb Raider 2 (Really doesn't need any introduction)
I agree, some of the old gran turismos don't hold up well considering they are simulations and we have gotten better at simulating things Twisted metal is a way better choice for a car game. Though I haven't played all the way through chrono yet I really enjoyed LoD so that would get my vote here as well. And spyro was a great 3d adventure game not sure why they didn't have that.
Recommended: Crash 1-3 Crash Team Racing Crash Bash Spyro 1-3 Metal Gear Solid (+ Special Missions if you get into it) Resident Evil 1-3 Silent Hill Ape Escape Tekken 2 & 3 Soul Edge Gran Turismo 2 Rayman Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 Syphon Filter Castlevania: Symphony of the Night Street Fighter Alpha 3 Wipeout 1-3 Tomb Raider 1-5 (don't think they've aged well but were great at the time)
@@sirarthur5213 Better off getting it on pc, psn on ps3 or ps4 since it would only be about 10 bucks. An original copy used is like 40 dollars plus. Besides the newer versions have better load times.
To be honest you're better off getting a PS3 and hitting up the PSOne classics on the PS Store. SotN is stupid expensive! It's sad how much pricing is going up. Hell I can't even find an original PSX for under $40-$50. I saw it a few years ago for $15!
@@ben-dn4sv Most all of them, go check. I just checked like 6 of them now, mostly all $10-$20. Some exceptions are Resident Evil 2 (which is expensive), and Chrono Cross which is like $30.
+Sterling “TheOddSter” S. Just get the Japanese import of Einhander. Silent Hill is not even among that group of expensive. You can get it for Around $30 complete. $40 brave fencer. The others are redonk.
odeiup It only just started to. Blame the N. Sane Trilogy coming out and causing people to want to get the old games. Nostalgia makes the prices go up... happened to pokemon games when GO came out. It'll go down soon.
Looking at prices now...Symphony of the Night is going for £200-£300 here in the UK...!!! That's most annoying! Saw it everywhere when it first came out at the normal £30-odd..... Oh well.... **it happens! Other ways to find it, I'm sure ;-) Great video gents BTW.....
Who remembers those demo discs? I think I had as much fun in some of those discs as I did in full games, some memorable mentions as far as demo games are FF8, Brave Fencer Musashi, and Tomb Raider. In addition I think you guys missed some games such as Crash Bandicoot Racing (CTR), the Twisted Metal and Tony Hawk series, as well as the Mega Man games.
Osvaldo Salgado I personally loved the menus on the demo discs and I wish the PS1 Classic would have used the demo disc menus also the demo discs introduced me to Medievil, Tombi, Kingsley’s Adventure and many more great games
Yep, mine that came with the system had, the arena level from Twisted Metal, some flying game, Thunder Hawk or something? Also some bloody game in an insane asylum or something, overhead view, it was dark but can't remember the name,
+Chris Roberts The first two I thought of were Metal Gear Solid and Tomb Raider. There's also the original GTA, which wasn't great by today's standard, but it's the genesis of a pretty big franchise. It's always good to go back to the roots. (Like they did with Gran Turismo.)
C'mon guys... Die Hard? Point Blank? Don't get cute, this is supposed to be an essentials list. Twisted Metal 1 & 2 Metal Gear Solid Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 & 2 Final Fantasy 7, 8, & 9 Soul Reaver
+Couldn't think of a good name so i guess this is it Twisted Metal Pss Metal Gear Solid overrated, every single person know that, in every single fucking PSone list that game is ever and ever the #1 Tony Hawk Pass Final Fantasy overrated Soul Reaverr Pass
ThreeDaysOfDan I know, I see many people saying good things about the game, I never played it (sincerously) in one chance I will start playing it...but I dont simply dont know why the necesity of mention it, every person in the world know about that game, so...whats the point?
Your channel has really inspired me to start my PlayStation 1 collection. A lot of games where lost in my many moves and I want to acquire them all back one day. So far I found my old Gray PS1 at my moms and I opened it up, cleaned it, gave it a nice overhaul and plugged it back in. The last game in there was a greatest hits mortal kombat trilogy. The system still works. Nonetheless this makes me love my PS3 even more since it can play ps1 and ps2 games.
I would honestly recommend the first Metal Gear Solid also, as a way for the new user to get used to the 3-D at the time. Fantastic game and quite challenging. And I would love to recommend Worms: Armageddon for more hilarious yet challenging tactics. Also: - Tekken 2 - Tomb Raider - Spyro the Dragon - Medievil - Medal of Honor - Twisted Metal 2 - Oddworld: Abe's Odyssey
Sheep Raider! One of my favorite games on the PS1. Parappa the Rappa, MediEvil, Spryo 2, Driver, Twisted Metal, Wipeout, the system has a ton of great games.
I remember how cool the small PSone with the screen used to be. Not everyone had a TV in their room and it was so cool to have a little playstation on your nightstand. I recently got to test one while working at a used game store and that screen still holds up and those speakers are loud as hell. The build quality was amazing!
The Spyro games are one of the few ps1 games that aren't outdated and still playable today. The third one, Spyro: Year Of The Dragon, would be my favorite but all three are really good! And they have excellent graphics even with today's standards.
Reggie and Jason (I hope I got his name right) are so similar to me in their unapologetic love for nearly ALL game genres. As I get older (currently 39), I notice that I have the patience to learn and appreciate odd or even, dare I say, cute? games? - the point being - anything, so long as it is entertaining and quality.. I watch these guys ALL THE TIME...so many vids I bet I've seen 20x or more by now...they're just the BEST.. Like, I consider these guys like family members I haven't met yet lol. Love these guys!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just want to give you a big thank you. I recently began watching your videos because I started to collect video games around May of this year. Your videos have helped tremendously. I have a decent collection right now. Nothing like yours, but I'm getting there haha. But thank you for all of the advice and tips you provide within your videos!
Gran Turismo was the game that introduced my interest in cars. And that second model PlayStation you showed is the one I have and with the parallel (or serial?) port, my PlayStation is able to play games on backup CDs. And I have a LOT of games to cover about the PlayStation but I don't want this comment to drag out any longer.
11 PS1 Games I played A Lot: - In The Hunt - Driver - Front Mission 3 - Vigilante 8 - Fisherman's Bait - Bushido Blade 2 - Medal Of Honor: Underground - Super Puzzle Fighter 2 - Tekken 3 - The Raiden Project - Rival Schools
The first one is really bad if you go back and play it, 2 was ridiculously glitched and out of control but, I look at them through nostalgic eyes and love it. I stopped after 3. Black was fine but
The exact same thing happened to me and my mom was nice enough to drive the entire hour round trip all over again to get me one the very same day. I remember how blown away I was by that game as it was my first ever FF and my introduction to RPGs in general. I barely came out of my room for an entire week lol.
Here's my quick 5: FF Tactics, Breath of Fire 3, Harvest Moon BTN, Twisted Metal 2, Tony Hawk PS 2. Its kinda weird how much i enjoy MetalJesus's channel when we have completly opposite taste in games. lol
I think it's because of the general discussion. He likes video games, you like video games. Your _tastes in them_ are opposite, but you still have a common general interest. Me and my best friend are like this with music.
Extremely late to the comments here but a tip for anyone playing PS1 games on their PS2. While you do need a PS1 memory card to save games and load your saves during play, you can copy your PS1 save files over to the much larger PS2 memory card and store them there. Meaning you can basically use a PS2 memory card as a bank for your save files, and get away with only using a single PS1 memory card to load/play those save files. All you need to do is copy the files back and forth as needed. I have hundreds of save files for PS1 and I would need probably dozens of PS1 memory cards if I didn’t do this.
If you like rpg's the ps1 is king in that area, the must have games on my list are these, Brigandine is the most addictive game on the system, criminally overlooked and a major hidden gem, it is getting expensive as i gave like 80 bucks for my replacement copy, a must have thats worth every penny, next is vandal hearts 1 and 2. simply awesome games, going up in price but Reasonable unlike Brigandine. next is chrono cross and final fantasy 7, get them now while they are not to pricy, ps1 rpg's are sadly getting expensive as hell and i will not ever be able to buy alot of the ones i still want for my collection, i only collect games i love to play, im more of a bioshock, singularity, god of war, uncharted, max payne type of gamer, i love action and 1st or 3rd person shooters, but i still at times crave that rpg type of experience with games like tales of vespera or eternal sonata, but i really love the ones like knights of the old republic and jade empire, anyway those are not ps1 games but my point is that if you want that real true rpg experience then the ps1 is the way to go, the 1st games i mentioned are musts but also check out games like the growlancer series and lunar or suikoden 2, and well there are hundreds so just check out the plethora of rpg's on Ps1 and sadly be ready to break your bank cause alot of them are expensive as hell and only getting more expensive
The same thing happened to me with my first console. N64. Understandable raddical Reggie. Great games, Silent Hill --- is fantastic. That Castlevania game got a remake on the psp. The ps1 still holds up.
I like the idea of this video, but wouldn't it be better to suggest 10 fairly cheap games? Symphony of the Night is one of the best games on the system, yes, but also one of the most expensive. When I first started collecting for ps1, I searched for the cheap must haves, like Tomb Raider, Crash bandicoot games, spyro games, syphon filter, medievil.
+satanslegacy No, I really feel like it's best to mention the better games because people could get potentially find the games at Pawn shops, thrift stores or just borrow them from a friend. I have no control over prices and therefore it's best not to focus on it.
MetalJesusRocks +1 to that, it wud be nice to get some " good but cheap buying guide" but i like this because it lets me no what to look out for, cus if ur like me u will never EVER pay retail for games, and again this lets me no what to look for.
+satanslegacy I agree they made it sound like its cheap to collect for and sure some of the crap games are but the rare RPGs are not at all for the collector with a skinny wallet and finding them in the wild is almost a thing of the past....I have a complete collection of RPGS and Smups and it cost me a fair amount for sure and I started in 1995 whn the prices were MUCH better but finishing the collection now 20 years later I spent some bucks to do so....
Gaming God yea im glad i still have all my final fantasies for ps1 just need origins and chronicles to have them all, just havnt felt like getting them cuz i already have chrono trigger and ff2(4) on snes and 1 on NES and have dawn of souls on gba for ff2(real 2)
AquaDonkey69 480p Yeah I hear you I am working on my SNES collection now and holy shit have prices went crazy! I am just glad I am done with PS1 because the market is going nuts with that now also....its a buyers market now because in the future a lot of floks wont be able to afford it.
Damn. I remember being 9 or 10 years old at my friends house. He showed me Metal Gear Solid, we played a little bit. I instantly fell in love with the Cyborg Ninja boss fight. When Psycho Mantis made the controller move, even as a kid i noticed that this is a new way of videogames and how interaction with videogames evolved. I only had a Commodore 64 at that time, so it was incredible. It was a great time. My parents bought the PlayStation later, when it was released as a PS One. The years prior i went to the shopping mall in the summer holidays, playing the crap out of the Tekken 3 demo or fighting with older kids, because they always played "Battle Arena Toshinden 3" and never let the younger kids play it. Fun times. And when the N64 came out, i constantly ran from one shop to another to play these consoles for free. These feelings. :) From time to time my older brother, who moved out when i was a kid, came to us with his PlayStation and i played "Soul Blade" for days. Damn. I feel old.
All PS1 games are so old and very hard to get, so since when you buy them you dont support the developers anymore i would really recommend pirating them
ThexXxXxOLOxXxXx I haven't gone looking for a PS1 of late but more that I think about it there's an odd spot between the GameCube/PS2 and then the SNES/Megadrive era where the PS1 can't be found in those cash for consoles stores easily but more are they going for big bucks on any classified ads.

I remember getting really hooked on the first Oddworld game - that might have been the first PS1 that really got me. It was so weird and different from anything else up to that point - part platformer, part puzzler, amazingly graphic graphics, and refreshingly original storyline. I just remember putting in a ton of time on the game, beating it, then learning that there's an alternate ending if you save all of the little Oddworld slave people. So then I was unable to rest until I "truly" finished the game. As a result, I didn't have any time for Resident Evil, Rayman, or Gran Turismo. Too busy with Oddworld...
To those who may actually care, that cat on the PocketStation is named Toro (In the US it's just called Sony Cat) and is to this day, the official mascot of PlayStation in Japan.
The extra AV out on the first PS1 model was due to a lack of official cables when they first came out. I had to solder an RGB scart cable directly to the board for my Japanese ps1 console. Also, people liked to connect them to a seperate stereo system that wasn't connected to their TV. My rgb monitor at the time had no speakers so I used the phono connectors.
I’m definitely a PlayStation guy so always great to come back to this video and PS1 games definitely hold their value to this day… metal gear sold is definitely a classic on that
Tekken 3 and Soul Blade are the best fighting games on the system. If i had to choose between the two of them, it would be a tough choice. But i was happy that they included Soul Blade, because it is greatly overlooked these days, shadowed by the whole Soul Calibur franchise.
the reason soul egde was renamed soul Calibur was because some company named edge games copyrighted the name edge and gone after other companies who used the word edge in there product names. the creators of Soul Calibur didn't want to get into some legal troubles and decided to rename Soul Edge to Soul Calibur in its North America release. also fun fact: they intentionally misspelled Calibur just in case someone copyrighted the word Calibur.
Front Mission 3 - one of the BEST tactical RPGs ever. You just must play this :) Legend of Dragoon is cool as well. Alien Trilogy - must have FPS, as well as Disruptor and Lifeforce Tenka by Naughty Dog and Insomniac.
Hans Schmidt It has great realistic story, cool characters, GREAT mechanics, good graphics and music and is just fun and addictive... + it has 2 campaigns 26h each. Imho it puts FF: Tactics to shame.
sandplasma There's also Front Mission 5, but it never came out of Japan... BUT there is english translation out there! :) I love every FM game, but FM3 is imho masterpiece - it did everything right and it's never boring, even on 5th playthrough on my Vita it's still addictive.
The Tony Hawk series were a masterclass and I believe should be included in a must have. Especially THPS2 which is a masterpiece. Select Free Skate and ride around in the map for hours 😀
(1:36) If I recall correctly, the RCA jacks have a DC out mixed in because it was likely meant to be used with a Handycam RF modulator to output to older and lower-end TVs that didn't have composite video inputs. Some Sony Handycam cameras of the time had the same arrangement for A/V out.
1. twisted metal 2. twisted metal 2 3,4 grand turismo 1.2 5. metal gear solid 6. final fantasy 7 7,8 resident evil 1,2 9. tomb raider 10. command and conquer 11. Medal of Honor 12. Driver, basically what gta got their look from 13. armored core 14. ridge racer 15. TOCA touring car racing
No way the 1st Resident Evil was not good there is no way to beat that shit it's way too hard! they fixed it in 2 and 3 giving us more ammo and weapons and less difficult 1 was impossible even on easy!
One thing you didn't include is using the PS3. The nice thing about the PS3 is that you use it on an HDTV. You can use the wireless dualshock 3 controller and you don't need any memory cards, it makes a virtual memory card on the hard drive.
I personally think it looks better on the ps3. I think the overall image looks better. Im probably more sensitive to an interlaced image then progressive scan.
Well i guess it also depends on your tv also. i have two in my house and one looks better for retro stuff then the other. But i just like the feel of playing on my ps1 anyways. Ive got all the playstations lined up and hooked up to my tv :D.
+MetalJesusRocks sorry to bother i been collecting for the ps1 for quite sometime the street fighter games and the cross overs like marvel vs capcom and x men cs street fighter are giving me so much trouble idk if to pay the 90 or 80 dollars
Alien Trilogy Abe's Odyssey Abe's Exodus Fear Effect Medievil Akuji The Heartless Shadowman All fantastic games. Point to note: Resi 2 came on two discs with two parallel but independent storylines that criss-crossed during the playthrough. Once you'd finished disc 1, you played disc 2 with an alternate character who had access to a different POV. This gave Resi 2 loads of replayability and great value for money.
No they weren't. They useful as fuck. You never ran out of space even though it was only 8MB, it would always stay in your system, unless you wanted to go over to a friend's place. What's inconvenient about that?
My brother and I opened up one of these badboys on Christmas morning in 97', along with a Playstation, Road Rash, Gameday 97', and Crash Bandicoot 2. Best Christmas ever, though the dual analog left stick broke and freely moved in the socket several months later. There was a concave cup on the end of those sticks, and they were not coated in rubber. I still prefer the concave feel and curse Sony for ever moving away from it.
I started collecting PSone games, and have found that although the 3D games have aged very badly, the 2D art style game are beautiful to this day. With all the love and passion the artists put into these games it is a shame that they are missed out on by so many. I haven't even played them all yet but so far these titles look promising for any like minded collectors: Heart of Darkness Adventures of Lomax Alundra Castlevania Symphony of the Night Disney's Hercules Disney's Tarzan In The Hunt Marvel Vs Capcom Mega Man 4 Oddworld - Abe's Oddysee Rayman 2 Street Fighter Alpha 3 If you know another good looking 2D game or unique art style like Fear Effect, please let me know. Thanks for this video Jesus. I hope I -ahem- resurrect interest in it from this comment.
loved your video, metal Jesus but I wouldn't recommend crash warped to a new collector - I would recommend the crash trilogy instead (which is the one I have) where they get all three games other than that - great video as usual
Gally in Nottingham, yes, the original 60gb fat ps3 was backwards with PS2 and ps1 (but don’t forget it’s big and bulky and can over heat and have the ylod) but the slim and super slim can only be backwards compatible for ps1
johnny flappie ok cause I have the fat original ps3 and recently I been buying ps1 games that I always wanted growing up and I been saving them and I just wondered how many I could save I have the 60gb ps3
Spyro games, Crash games, Marvel Vs Capcom, Guilty Gear, Street Fighter Alpha games, endless fighter games, Saga Frontier 1&2, Star Ocean 2, Dragon Quest, Gran Turismo 2, Need For Speed games, Final Fantasy 7,8,9, Final Fantasy Tactics, Alundra, Tomba 1&2, Blasto!, Dino Crisis 1&2, Resident Evil 1,2,3, Metal Gear Solid, Syphon Filter1&2, Gex1,2,3, Breath of Fire 3,4, Silent Hill1&2, Megaman X4,X5,X6, basically EVERY GENRE, the PS1 absolutely killed it and knocked it out of the park it’s absolutely overwhelming and the amount of time I spent on some of these games easily exceeded 100 hours, etc etc the PS1 was a force to be reckoned with it amazes me that the N64 and Saturn lasted as long as they did the N64 specifically had nothing but platformers and like 1 or 2 games of each genre that were “notable” i think it’s hilarious that many people deem those same 5 N64 games as “legendary” (ocarina of time, goldeneye, smash, mario kart) where as the PS1 had a HUGE library, of high quality, diverse, high end games from developers that simply abandoned Nintendo due to their rigidity and stupid decisions regarding the design of the system and what they allowed on the N64. Saying this as someone who has both and grew up with both. The Playstation is a great system and is timeless and its emergence marks the beginning of Nintendo’s great downfall in gaming until the arrival of the Wii.

Same as DeathNote I had the same set up and I regret giving it up. Now as an adult it's one of the bigger regrets I've had in my life.

Is the LCD screen exclusive for the ps1 mini? Or is it able to work on another model?
I still have mine; hence why I clicked the video. Lol
I remember when I was little I had a ps1 asked my parents for a ps2 but got another ps1 lol
WTF lmao xD

trippin916 so get 4 of them and put. Final Fantasy 7 in the PS4 case #resmaterd

It was only recently that the trademark was cancelled because he tried to sue EA in 2010, but of course he lost the case because... well he was just some trademark troll trying to sue one of the largest gaming companies in the world for infringement.
AQUA - チャンネル Edgy
AQUA - チャンネル mirrors blade?
Kefka mean toothbrush in slovakia lol 😂😂
Ok then why he didn't sue WWF for having a PPV named "Over The Edge"?
Here are some of my favorites that didn't get mentioned:
- Spyro the Dragon 1-3 (Great platformers and a lot of fun for all ages)
- Tekken 3 (imho the best fighting game on the system)
- T'ai Fu: Wrath of the Tiger (A game by Activision and Dreamworks that is basically a badass video-game version of Kung Fu Panda)
- Toy Story 2 (Another great platformer and one of the best licensed games out there)
- Crash Team Racing (An amazing Mario Kart clone with Crash Bandicoot and friends)
- Tomb Raider 2 (Really doesn't need any introduction)
+BloodyMastersword Glad you mentioned Toy Story 2, very under rated. It has great worlds to explore.
I just want to comment to say I agree about TS2. An excellent licensed game indeed.
TS2 is just great. Definitely an overlooked game that everyone should give a try.
+BloodyMastersword Toy story 2 is pretty dope, I used to play it my n64.
+BloodyMastersword Oh nice, I actually picked up T'ai Fu and Tomb Raider 2 at the pawn shop the other day.
Reggie really knows his shit man. Impressive. I love when hes a guest
I couldn’t disagree more

Spyro Year of the Dragon,
Twisted Metal 2,
Tomb Raider,
Metal Gear Solid
French4Assassin cant believe they forgot about spyro and tomb raider lol
I agree, some of the old gran turismos don't hold up well considering they are simulations and we have gotten better at simulating things Twisted metal is a way better choice for a car game. Though I haven't played all the way through chrono yet I really enjoyed LoD so that would get my vote here as well. And spyro was a great 3d adventure game not sure why they didn't have that.
Twisted metal 4 is better ;)
Edvinas Kilbauskas no worst one, I like 3 best
Played twisted metal 2 so much

What about armored core?
To be honest you're better off getting a PS3 and hitting up the PSOne classics on the PS Store. SotN is stupid expensive! It's sad how much pricing is going up.
Hell I can't even find an original PSX for under $40-$50. I saw it a few years ago for $15!

Reggie always mentions voice acting in games and I love that because it's important to me too just as much as the music and sound effects.
True, it really adds to the experience

For anyone wondering, all ten of these games in 2022's market would cost ~$366 on eBay. Oh how times have changed.
That's why I just use tonyhax and burn the cds lol
Huh? I just ebayed some of them, they're all like $10-$20 each which is not bad at all.
How did times change? They're way less than they were new.
@@MrSlowestD16 which ones??
@@ben-dn4sv Most all of them, go check. I just checked like 6 of them now, mostly all $10-$20. Some exceptions are Resident Evil 2 (which is expensive), and Chrono Cross which is like $30.
@@MrSlowestD16 ah i just realised you're talking in dollars so you're in the US, i think pal games are little more expensive
The PS1 is one of the cheapest consoles to collect for and has so many great games! Even typing this is making me want to play some Xenogears :P
yeah im collecting for the ps1 and ps2, im starting with more cheap games and time will go on i will work my way up
+Sterling “TheOddSter” S. Just get the Japanese import of Einhander. Silent Hill is not even among that group of expensive. You can get it for Around $30 complete. $40 brave fencer. The others are redonk.
No Fun Intended on realy.....CRASH LITERALLY SELLS FOR MORE than 40 dollars
odeiup It only just started to.
I used to love the demo discs, for a time those where the only games i had...especially the ones that came from pizza hut!!
Pizza hut demos
PlayStation underground demo discs from mail and PlayStation magazines
Yep, mine that came with the system had, the arena level from Twisted Metal, some flying game, Thunder Hawk or something? Also some bloody game in an insane asylum or something, overhead view, it was dark but can't remember the name,
How did Metal Gear Solid not make the cut? Others I'd recommend: Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 & 2, Silent Hill, Apocalypse and Twisted Metal 2.
+Chris Roberts There's an Xbox version of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 with much better graphics. It's called Pro Skater 2X.
Because those games always make the cut. The pool of PlayStation games is endless
+Chris Roberts The first two I thought of were Metal Gear Solid and Tomb Raider. There's also the original GTA, which wasn't great by today's standard, but it's the genesis of a pretty big franchise. It's always good to go back to the roots. (Like they did with Gran Turismo.)
N64 Tony Hawk games felt way better and looked better.
Chris Roberts Metal Gear Solid and Tomb Raider are a must ! Tekken 3 was a favorite of mine and was a hell of good on that platform .
I'd throw ol' Tony Hawk 2 on that list, it stands out and still stands up to this day and those sound tracks are still bad ass

THPS 2 was a massive improvement on the already-good first
Tony hawk pro skater 3 was pretty bad cuz of the framerate and controls.
The first 2 were really good though.

Also:
- Tekken 2
- Tomb Raider
- Spyro the Dragon
- Medievil
- Medal of Honor
- Twisted Metal 2
- Oddworld: Abe's Odyssey
Sheep Raider! One of my favorite games on the PS1. Parappa the Rappa, MediEvil, Spryo 2, Driver, Twisted Metal, Wipeout, the system has a ton of great games.

The Spyro games are one of the few ps1 games that aren't outdated and still playable today. The third one, Spyro: Year Of The Dragon, would be my favorite but all three are really good! And they have excellent graphics even with today's standards.
AwesomenessMan I thought spyro 3 was a ps2 game when I was little and only played it on ps2. Graphics threw me off

Twisted metal was an awesome franchise
Would love too see twisted metal 2 remade with today's graphics. Just update graphics and maybe add a car or two but keep it simple.
The first one is really bad if you go back and play it, 2 was ridiculously glitched and out of control but, I look at them through nostalgic eyes and love it. I stopped after 3. Black was fine but
13 year old me bought a PS1 with Final Fantasy 7 and had no idea I needed a $35 memory card to save my progress. Those were the days...
The exact same thing happened to me and my mom was nice enough to drive the entire hour round trip all over again to get me one the very same day. I remember how blown away I was by that game as it was my first ever FF and my introduction to RPGs in general. I barely came out of my room for an entire week lol.
Here's my quick 5:
FF Tactics, Breath of Fire 3, Harvest Moon BTN, Twisted Metal 2, Tony Hawk PS 2.
I like your list better, also I'll add the Spider-Man games to your list.
Seriously?! I've got to try this!
If you like rpg's the ps1 is king in that area, the must have games on my list are these, Brigandine is the most addictive game on the system, criminally overlooked and a major hidden gem, it is getting expensive as i gave like 80 bucks for my replacement copy, a must have thats worth every penny, next is vandal hearts 1 and 2. simply awesome games, going up in price but Reasonable unlike Brigandine. next is chrono cross and final fantasy 7, get them now while they are not to pricy, ps1 rpg's are sadly getting expensive as hell and i will not ever be able to buy alot of the ones i still want for my collection, i only collect games i love to play, im more of a bioshock, singularity, god of war, uncharted, max payne type of gamer, i love action and 1st or 3rd person shooters, but i still at times crave that rpg type of experience with games like tales of vespera or eternal sonata, but i really love the ones like knights of the old republic and jade empire, anyway those are not ps1 games but my point is that if you want that real true rpg experience then the ps1 is the way to go, the 1st games i mentioned are musts but also check out games like the growlancer series and lunar or suikoden 2, and well there are hundreds so just check out the plethora of rpg's on Ps1 and sadly be ready to break your bank cause alot of them are expensive as hell and only getting more expensive
you should check vagrant story. :)
Check out Legend of the Dragoon
Ive played vagrant story and legend of dragoon, both kick ass, my fav is chrono cross
brandon whitson I like RPGs, I usually check out my local black market.
brandon whitson that game is 100 for used copies there’s like one and most around 300 all the way up to 900 damn
AquaDonkey69 480p
Yeah I hear you I am working on my SNES collection now and holy shit have prices went crazy!
Damn. I feel old.
Final Fantasy VII, Resident Evil 2, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Silent Hill and Metal Gear Solid are my top 5
All now above the average price where I'd take a punt on eBay unfortunately.
All PS1 games are so old and very hard to get, so since when you buy them you dont support the developers anymore i would really recommend pirating them
ThexXxXxOLOxXxXx true, but sometimes I still like to play old games on the original hardware, just for the added nostalgia kick.
+Alastair Ward Lol i dont have one anymore and they're nowhere to be found in my country, so i have epsxe both in my PC and android phone :D

I like watching these videos.... a throwback to my childhood. Good times.
I got into video game collecting because of MetalJesusRocks.
I’m definitely a PlayStation guy so always great to come back to this video and PS1 games definitely hold their value to this day… metal gear sold is definitely a classic on that
My favourite game is not mentioned which is TEKKEN 3 and also if you guys own a PSP go mod it and play PS1 games on it because they run so smoothly
I think my friends and I spent more time playing tekken 3 than any other game. I used Hworang a lot and I can still remember most of his moves.
Tekken 3 and Soul Blade are the best fighting games on the system. If i had to choose between the two of them, it would be a tough choice. But i was happy that they included Soul Blade, because it is greatly overlooked these days, shadowed by the whole Soul Calibur franchise.
Tekken 3 and Soul blade and Bloody Roar 2 at the best games in that system
I would've chosen Tekken Tag Tournament over Soul Blade personally
@@krisfrederick5001 but Tekken Tag Tournament is not a PS1 game
the reason soul egde was renamed soul Calibur was because some company named edge games copyrighted the name edge and gone after other companies who used the word edge in there product names. the creators of Soul Calibur didn't want to get into some legal troubles and decided to rename Soul Edge to Soul Calibur in its North America release. also fun fact: they intentionally misspelled Calibur just in case someone copyrighted the word Calibur.
Front Mission 3 - one of the BEST tactical RPGs ever. You just must play this :) Legend of Dragoon is cool as well. Alien Trilogy - must have FPS, as well as Disruptor and Lifeforce Tenka by Naughty Dog and Insomniac.
+MocnyBrowarek front mission3 i think is underrated as hell

The Tony Hawk series were a masterclass and I believe should be included in a must have. Especially THPS2 which is a masterpiece. Select Free Skate and ride around in the map for hours 😀
(1:36) If I recall correctly, the RCA jacks have a DC out mixed in because it was likely meant to be used with a Handycam RF modulator to output to older and lower-end TVs that didn't have composite video inputs. Some Sony Handycam cameras of the time had the same arrangement for A/V out.

Yes! Loved it. First the Road Rash on PC then 3D Road Rash on PsOne, my childhood was awesome
Great video guys! Can't believe you didn't put MGS, Tekken 3, or Silent Hill!
One thing you didn't include is using the PS3. The nice thing about the PS3 is that you use it on an HDTV. You can use the wireless dualshock 3 controller and you don't need any memory cards, it makes a virtual memory card on the hard drive.
I know that's a little more convenient. But using a ps1 on an old school tv just looks so much better.
Ive got all the playstations lined up and hooked up to my tv :D.
i still need to buy a older tv for my ps1 and ps2 though :/. i havent had one for years .

+MetalJesusRocks sorry to bother i been collecting for the ps1 for quite sometime the street fighter games and the cross overs like marvel vs capcom and x men cs street fighter are giving me so much trouble idk if to pay the 90 or 80 dollars
+MetalJesusRocks I love that you're doing subs now, it just adds to the quality that you already bring everytime
Alien Trilogy
Abe's Odyssey
Abe's Exodus
Fear Effect
Medievil
Akuji The Heartless
Shadowman
All fantastic games.
Point to note: Resi 2 came on two discs with two parallel but independent storylines that criss-crossed during the playthrough. Once you'd finished disc 1, you played disc 2 with an alternate character who had access to a different POV. This gave Resi 2 loads of replayability and great value for money.
In Accessories You Forgot The Link Cable I Spend Hours Playing Doom With Friends Over Multiplayer It Was kinda Like A LAN Party
Stop Capitalizing Every Word In Your Sentence.
I did that with command and conquer retaliation.
Colony Wars w/link is too much fun.
Memory cards were such a nuisance. I’m so glad we don’t have to deal with them any more.
No they weren't. They useful as fuck. You never ran out of space even though it was only 8MB, it would always stay in your system, unless you wanted to go over to a friend's place. What's inconvenient about that?
You skipped another controller, there was a dual analog controller that did not vibrate. Came out before the Dual Shock
Prisoner Alex Yep, it was only supported by a few games though.
Gran tourismo killed the plain analog controller. The rumble made gt so awesome.
actually they did mention it but tthey do not have it
My brother and I opened up one of these badboys on Christmas morning in 97', along with a Playstation, Road Rash, Gameday 97', and Crash Bandicoot 2.
I haven't even played them all yet but so far these titles look promising for any like minded collectors:
Heart of Darkness
Adventures of Lomax
Alundra
Castlevania Symphony of the Night
Disney's Hercules
Disney's Tarzan
In The Hunt
Marvel Vs Capcom
Mega Man 4
Oddworld - Abe's Oddysee
Rayman 2
Street Fighter Alpha 3
If you know another good looking 2D game or unique art style like Fear Effect, please let me know. Thanks for this video Jesus. I hope I -ahem- resurrect interest in it from this comment.
Your friend seems pretty cool too. I remember seeing some of his gem picks and they looked pretty legit.
Reggie?? Nahh he's not a friend.......he's family😁😁😁
The 2 sony cats are named Toro Inoue and Kuro
loved your video, metal Jesus
but I wouldn't recommend crash warped to a new collector - I would recommend the crash trilogy instead (which is the one I have) where they get all three games
other than that - great video as usual
Fantastic video guys, just what I needed. Dropped some actual knowledge and not just a top 10 list of the games we all know and love already.
Where’s Tomb Raider series’s, twisted metal series, MGS. OH man some awesome s games. Really takes me back
where's bubsy 3d?
In hell, where it belongs.
+LunarD3A7H Thats so true
Nice meme
I think it's on the "top 10 best games of all time" at the number 1 spot. #bestofalltime
Statistically, it's genuinely someone's favourite game.
no spyro?
I prefer to buy Spyro game in PS4 because it's the same but better quality.
My favourite ps1 game was spyro 2
Doesnt matter how old the video is, if it has reggie is already 10 times better, this guy is cool haha
Resident Evil 3 Nemesis is a great game too
Tough too! But once you get past the second nemesis encounter, it's really cool.
I always preferred Nemesis to RE2
I always preferred Nemesis to RE2
I always preferred Nemesis to RE2
I always preferred Nemesis to RE2
Oh the Guncon! That takes me back lol. I remember being so disappointed that the gun slide on top didn't move or kickback like on the Namco arcades.
I use my PS3 for everything but PS3 games. It's a bluray / ps1 machine for me
Same here, I literally only bought it for my PS1 games and movies, too funny. I thought I was crazy
Does ps3 have backwards compatibility?
Gally in Nottingham, yes, the original 60gb fat ps3 was backwards with PS2 and ps1 (but don’t forget it’s big and bulky and can over heat and have the ylod) but the slim and super slim can only be backwards compatible for ps1
How many ps1 games can you save on a ps3 ???
johnny flappie ok cause I have the fat original ps3 and recently I been buying ps1 games that I always wanted growing up and I been saving them and I just wondered how many I could save I have the 60gb ps3
Who's here to get game ideas as to what iso to download for the hacked ps1 classic?
