In 1978, I was 15. My brother and I went to see Ted Nugent and Blackfoot. There was a 2nd warmup band I had never heard of. They tore it up, and pity anyone who had to follow them. That was the Scorpions, been a fan from that day. This song is the best ballad of that era, hands down. Thanks :)
Klaus Meine’s voice is right up there with Freddie Mercury’s voice and ALL the greats! Great reaction bro! When I was in grade school, I was into rap, hip-hop, etc. But there was something about the Scorpions that drew me in...They have a certain, and unique, soul! It’s cool seeing another brother react to these cats!!!
For me, as a woman, THIS is the definitive power ballad. It is, by FAR, my favorite Scorpions song. When I first heard it on the radio (yes, FM radio!) wayyy back in 1984, I HAD to buy the 45 single! I was still in the Navy back then, and like most of us, we had at least one person as the proverbial "one that got away." Anyway, Klaus Meine, the lead vocalist, reminds me so much of Ronnie James Dio. Both men have these powerful voices that also have vibrato and sustain. Too many rock singers 🎤 have no idea what it takes to be a true vocalist. And yes, these voices are "panty droppers." 😜😽💋
I've always felt that Klaus was better at being romantic/slow than a true hard rocker, even though "Rock you like a hurricane" proves me wrong time and again :)
Such a TASTY song! So well written and performed ! Passionate slow song without being cheesy! His voice is just so unique and great! I got to see them live a couple times back then and they just KILLED this song ever time! Great reaction!!
Man, your expressions, reactions and commentary are on the mark. Don’t change a thing! I love watching you experience what I grew up on. Watching you is like hearing it for the first time again!!!
the lyrics Love, only love can break down the wall someday, i will be there,, i will be there, would become the most World inspired Moment in the END of the Cold War, as it came and went(THE BERLIN WALL DID COME DOWN) in the blink of an Eye, and now is just a fleeting memory of how ROCK CHANGED THE WORLD! was no metaphor
Everyone is saying listen to the Zoo, and they are right it's an amazing song. But they have a lot of amazing songs. I highly recommend anything off of Love At First Sting as well as Crazy World. Those two albums are phenomenal.
I believe the lead guitar is Michael Shenker. Check out the lead guitar for U.F.O. I think thats the original band he was shredding for when he first hit the scene in the early 70's. One of my favorite guitar players from that era. You should check out " No one like you" also from the Scorpions.
From the late 70's on, it's been the duo of Rudolph Schenker and Matthias Jabs on guitar. So, it should be Matthias on the leads for Still Loving You? They also had Uli Jon Roth on lead for awhile, before Matthias joined the band.
Scorpions songs embodied all that we adore & praise of the Rock music from the 80's & 90's - a powerful voice accompanied by powerful & gifted musicians all making deep thought out crafted music meant to be imprinted in the memory & heart of the listeners Love your Reaction, Jay 🙏
I got to see Michael Schenker - Rudolf's brother and former member of the Scorpions - with UFO in 1975 along with J Geils Band and Perter Frampton- the Schenkers can really play guitars!
I have no idea if you have listened to the Scorpions before but they are good sh*. Tracks I'd recommend: Rock You Like a Hurricane, Loving You Like Sunday Morning, The Zoo, Wind of Change, Send Me an Angel, Send Me an Angel and Alien Nation.
This was my first rock concert as a little girl. Back when cell phones were few and far between and it was acceptable to bring out those lighters to lite the night or...other things. I will never forget the show they put on. Great song.
The genre is "power ballads"-mostly from the hair band era of the 80's-90's. It's not my favorite, but this one is lit. Rumor had it (and maybe I heard wrong) is that Klaus did not speak English at this point, which is why some the words sound a little strange.
Great reaction! The Scorpions have to be the most melodic rock band ever. The guitar licks that intertwine with the lyrics are so tasty and never sound out of place. Check out some of their other songs, even their older catalog from the 70's are incredible such as Sails of Charon... that song is a must for anyone who likes neo classical type shred guitar.
If someone can't feel emotions during a song like this or a song like "Lady", then they need to hook their heart up to some jumper cables and restart that 'sh*t'. Nothing wrong with feelings. It's not like you were crying all loud with snot coming out of your nose. People need to calm down and admit that they feel things.
The scorpions wrote some serious metal melodies. The guitar sounds were simply gorgeous. So rich. Great power riffs, great leads and solos. Their tone was amazing.
In all seriousness for those born in the 70's this song was at staple at summer camps, probably the first slow song we danced to...to be 12 again and innocent ! Hugs !
We understand that we had great songs back in the day. I've got about 250 hours of music on my playlist and all are worthy of being there. You've only just begun.
Been hopping around the different reaction videos to this song. I finally found someone who reacts to this song like I do….FINALLY! Much love brother, stay classy sir
This was THE summer camp song in the early eighties, if the girl/boy danced to it with you, ,you knew you'd steal a kiss... memories from my childhood ;)
My favourite Scorpions ballad is "Lady Starlight" from their "Animal Magnetism" album. For a Scorpions song that isn't a ballad, I'd love you to react to "Is There Anybody There?" from their "Lovedrive" album. With regards to Klaus Meine's vocals, when the band were writing and recording the "Blackout" album he lost his voice and had to have surgery to remove nodes from his vocal cords. He was worried he might not be able to sing again afterwards. Nearly 40 years later he is still one of the best singers and one of my favourites.
Back when I was a kid, you heard it at every summer camp. It was the perfect song to slow dance with thr girl you liked, even if you had no chance you could hold her close for seven minutes ;)
My favorite version of this song is off the World Wide LIVE album. This is the ultimate lighter song. Now if you have not done it all ready you need to go to the other side of the spectrum and hear "No One Like You" which is a straight up hard rock tune. Oh and closing your eyes during a great song slow or fast just means you are truly feeling the music and you have gone beyond just hearing it.
it is a good choice to have chosen the long version! it's a typical romantic song from a hard rock band but, it's really effective and the voice and the guitar are very good. thanks for your analyse
Thanks for the likes Jay, appreciate it ! Sometimes when I hear this song I try to calculate the babies made, I can't keep up the numbers are staggering ;) !!
Great reaction to one of my favorite bands of all time. I saw them in concert a few years ago and it was awesome ! Some suggestions would be “ The Zoo”, “ No One Like You”, “Big City Nights”, “ Tease me , Please Me”, “ Winds of Change”, “When Passion Rules the Game”, “ Bad Boys Running wild “ to name a few...enjoy !!!
I'm glad you noticed how great Matthais and Rudy's guitars sounded. I've been a studio/session player a long time (a LONG time) and, growing up in Europe, I always preferred how my amps sounded there. The difference is the 220v power. Sounds ridiculous but I've played amps here and taken that very amp there and it sounds completely different. And vice versa. I bought a vintage Marshall the last time I was in England and brought it to America. Sounded brilliant there (and on the tour) and sounds completely flat back here. So many bands during the "analog days" used to fly to Europe to record because of that. Great analysis. Stay safe everyone. Cheers.
Even though you're young Jay I think you understand the power of this song when it came out, a staple of summer camps in Europe, so many people had their first kiss...
Your right this “wall” he is talking about is a matephorical one in a way but on the other hand he was also singing about the Berlin Wall of Germany which back until 1990 divided the country of Germany east and west. That’s why it’s also such a great song because it has two meanings
Maybe my favourite band, I have heard them so many times and still I feel blown away by his voice. I really liked your reaction and that you had something interesting to say about the voice too and I agree with you, he goes pretty high but it doesn't feel annoying or too much like he's just screaming. Totally agree too thecguitar was just amazing and emotional. Anyway very motional love song, I wonder though if the wall is a metaphor for the Berlin wall too as this was written just before if fell. Next I recommend We'll burn the sky and The Zoo, those have very nice guitar riffs too that I think you will enjoy.
Pretty sure everyone that knows this song has it on their playlist. It's been giving us chills for decades, every time we hear it.
I was shy, 12 and overweight and still...My first kiss ! True musical magic :) !
I'm glad this is that full version. Most of the reaction videos of this are using the radio version, that edits it half the song.
Thanks :)
Good story. 58 here too.
Totally agree, and in my opinion of all time , and I'm not just saying that because they r my favorite band.
Off of love at first sting album.
And kudos for playing the FULL version !
Klaus Meine’s voice is right up there with Freddie Mercury’s voice and ALL the greats! Great reaction bro! When I was in grade school, I was into rap, hip-hop, etc. But there was something about the Scorpions that drew me in...They have a certain, and unique, soul! Just for your last remark..... LMBO!!
Dio is the bomb. Love him and the music.....Holy Diver album was a blast
I've always felt that Klaus was better at being romantic/slow than a true hard rocker, even though "Rock you like a hurricane" proves me wrong time and again :)
I promise you... every man alive has been in love like this at least once.
Great reaction and Klaus vocal is perfect. Scorpions dual guitars always come thru.
Roses are red, violets are blue. Now you must listen to "The Zoo".
That was great!!!😀😀😀
Such a TASTY song! So well written and performed ! Passionate slow song without being cheesy! His voice is just so unique and great! I got to see them live a couple times back then and they just KILLED this song ever time! Great reaction!!
Always good to see an intelligent person give an amazing reaction. A+
One of the best live acts I've ever seen...they sound just like they do on record.
I still remember her and we stayed friends till University...
If I was going to give one example of the term power ballad it would be this one.
Ima say "Amen" to that!!
INDEED !
This ones always been one of my favorites. I LOVE his voice. The guitar is amazing. Great reaction.
Hands down, my fave Scorpion song and the very best of the power ballads.
Almost forgot "Send me an angel" by Scorpions 💗
Scorpions - Sails Of Charon is a great song from the Scorps.
One of Germany's greatest rock exports
So many memories with this band
Man, your expressions, reactions and commentary are on the mark. Don’t change a thing! I love watching you experience what I grew up on. Watching you is like hearing it for the first time again!!!
Scorpions America Tour 1985 - "Bon Jovi" was the opening act :)
The Scorpions have guitar tone for days. Love them. And I’m glad you reacted to this song. Thanks.
They're dropping a new album this week
Great power ballad. Thanks for doing this song.
the lyrics Love, only love can break down the wall someday, i will be there,, i will be there, would become the most World inspired Moment in the END of the Cold War, as it came and went(THE BERLIN WALL DID COME DOWN) in the blink of an Eye, and now is just a fleeting memory of how ROCK CHANGED THE WORLD! was no metaphor
Awww Yeah, i can still see that happening in my minds eye Bruh.. We ALL busted some caps off the bottle tops that night around here..
This song gives me goose bumps. IF a dude sang this to me, with that accent, I would just melt into a puddle. Lovely, expressive reaction.
One of the BEST sounding live groups 🎵🎶🎙 clear crisp
Power ballad at its best!
Everyone is saying listen to the Zoo, and they are right it's an amazing song. But they have a lot of amazing songs. I highly recommend anything off of Love At First Sting as well as Crazy World. Those two albums are phenomenal.
That's a awesome song, off of animal magnetism.
These guys brought a lot to metal music. I saw them in a group concert with Dokken, Kingdom Come, Van Halen and Metallica...
I saw that tour as well, I don’t know about the show you saw, but the Scorpions were the best band the day I saw them. Great times
Was that monsters of rock in 89?
@@heenymeety406 Yep, I saw them at the Pontiac Silverdome. Football fields are nice for concerts...
I forgot how much I liked this song. Thank you for doing this.
Imo the greatest ballad ever written...Scorpions discography is flames
Best rock ballad of all time.
This song touches the heart, it was always one of my favorites & I'm still loving it🤘 loved this!! Great reaction as always!!🤘🤘👍❤
I believe the lead guitar is Michael Shenker. Check out the lead guitar for U.F.O. I think thats the original band he was shredding for when he first hit the scene in the early 70's. One of my favorite guitar players from that era. You should check out " No one like you" also from the Scorpions.
Rudolph Schenker is with the band at this point if.my memory serves me correctly.
From the late 70's on, it's been the duo of Rudolph Schenker and Matthias Jabs on guitar. So, it should be Matthias on the leads for Still Loving You? They also had Uli Jon Roth on lead for awhile, before Matthias joined the band.
Michael left mid 70's? Mathias jabs came in the other guitar is Rudolph Schenker .
Love at First Sting (1984) album was bad ass!
So many great songs!
Watched them several times in the 80's.
Great reaction, again!!👍
Scorpions songs embodied all that we adore & praise of the Rock music from the 80's & 90's - a powerful voice accompanied by powerful & gifted musicians all making deep thought out crafted music meant to be imprinted in the memory & heart of the listeners Love your Reaction, Jay 🙏
You just brought me back to the 80's. You crushed that reaction bro!!!
Still The Best spine chillin power ballad! Klaus has the perfect voice !
I got to see Michael Schenker - Rudolf's brother and former member of the Scorpions - with UFO in 1975 along with J Geils Band and Perter Frampton- the Schenkers can really play guitars!
Loved your reaction! And you close your eyes whenever you want!
Best reaction to this song I've seen!
The Zoo is a real jam by the Scorps
Loved this song for years. And thanks to you putting up the lyrics? Damn was I singing the lyrics differently.
Me, too.
This was my first rock concert as a little girl. Back when cell phones were few and far between and it was acceptable to bring out those lighters to lite the night or...other things. I will never forget the show they put on. Great song.

Every man alive has been in love like this at least once. Yeah... you too Chad. Don't lie.

They make the guitar's wail. Amazing. Nice reaction too
Scorpions are the definition of greatness.
React a more Scorpions songs: The zoo, We'll burn the sky, in trance etc...
70’s scorps were on fire !!
Yeah, ima say a big "AMEN" to ya for that!!
Still Loving that Scorpions tune after all this time! Love At First Sting album is Amazing!

2:47 "that guitar just slid into the DM's of my soul" 😆 its no accident. this song in my opinion been top 10 ever. and i was a kid when it came out.
We understand that we had great songs back in the day. I've got about 250 hours of music on my playlist and all are worthy of being there. You've only just begun.
Do Send Me An Angel. It will definitely touch your soul. You close your eyes because you're feeling the music. Nothing wrong with that.
Kings of the power ballads !
Both the guitar players are very tight and technical, all of their licks and leads are very melodic and clean
Been hopping around the different reaction videos to this song. I finally found someone who reacts to this song like I do….FINALLY! Much love brother, stay classy sir
I have a cool one...Montrose.......Make It Last......early Sammy Hagar, great album, great song, hidden gem!
Klaus has one of the most noticeable voices in rock and roll
This was THE summer camp song in the early eighties, if the girl/boy danced to it with you, ,you knew you'd steal a kiss... memories from my childhood ;)

Songs like this one are what the term "eargasm" was coined for.
it is a good choice to have chosen the long version!
it's a typical romantic song from a hard rock band but, it's really effective and the voice and the guitar are very good. thanks for your analyse
Love the scorps! Best ballads that you can really amp out those choruses!
100% Agree
He has a video singing this with an orchestra. Awesome.
Thanks for the likes Jay, appreciate it ! Sometimes when I hear this song I try to calculate the babies made, I can't keep up the numbers are staggering ;) !!
Holiday is my favorite along with the Zoo and this one. Rock you like a hurricane of course.
Thanks for listening to my suggestion, I see you enjoyed it ..You really need to check out The Urge ..Brainless... as you say it's a bop..
Great reaction !! Should be on everyone's playlist... Guitarists Matthias Jabs and Rudolph Schenker
Love the Scorps, try Noone like You, or Arizona, both of my favorites.
No One Like You is a Great Song By them!
My fav Scorpions song is. Leaving You.
JR - 2 amazing guitarists Rudy Schenker and Mathias Jobs - German Rock Band Check out the live concert video so you can see them play this.
Fun fact. This song created a baby boom in germany in the 80'd
I'm glad you noticed how great Matthais and Rudy's guitars sounded. Oh man...chefs kiss is a good grade.

Try " The Zoo" or "When the Smoke is Going Down" by them . You won't be disappointed
BTW probably the best song about love lost and longed for !
Here's another one that *WILL* make it to your playlist:
She's Gone by Steelheart.
The vocals? So beautiful, it pierced the heavens above... 🥲🌹
Don't stop at the top, another rocker
This song is FIRE!!!!
