  • This is our new side by side. Its only about 20 years old. The hour meter is stuck at 997 hours and the engine has been rebuilt about 4 years ago. Its not perfect, but its also not $10,000. Or $15,000. Or $20,000+. It runs and its what we could afford.

We have a 2003 Ranger with rwd. Yes that is a great deal! We've had ours for more than 10 yrs and love it. Here's a tip: the stock thermostat opens at 160 degrees which is great. However the stock fan doesn't come on till 230 degrees! That's way way too hot if you want to keep the compression in the engine. So I got an aftermarket fan controller from Hayden now the fan comes on 170. The stock radiator and fan easily keeps it cool at 170. Now you have lengthened oil changes before the oil turns black rubber hoses last forever vacuum lines wiring etc. If the compression is good today I don't think you'll ever wear it out. I do this with all my vehicles. 500,000 is easy to attain with a solid car ie jeep cherokee xj or wrangler tj.

We have one. Its never had any issues besides one dealer issue. Dont have issues going into high at all only issues are the cosmetic body issues as its spent alot of time outside in the cold new england years. Great, powerful, reliable machine. Wish I could afford a new one but not when I could go buy a new car for one! Just dont have it!

Your video about your polaris ranger was posted 3 years ago. How are things going now? We just bought a 2003 polaris ranger which looks like ours. How dovyou know that your rsnger is a 500? What size are your tires. Just arrived today and survived one short outing.

My deceased husband, before he passed would take his Polaris to the Golf Cart/Lawnmower repair shop. Obviously, it was never fixed. The battery will not stay charged, there's a part on it that he didn't know why they put it on. They put in a toggle switch to turn on & off the fuel pump. He had cancer & was trying to fix it so I'd be able to use it, to take care & feed my cattle, but it metasticized to his brain & he never was able to do anything. I've tried to work on it but I noticed, where there should be a clamp they had used electrical tape instead. I knew then that I wasn't going to be able to repair it myself.
Is there someone that works on them without charging an arm & a leg? I've checked around our area & haven't found anyone. I'm in Florida and Golf Carts are the #1 fixer uppers, & the sell of New Polaris' are all I can find, they won't work on the older ones, they try to push the new ones off on you. I can't afford a lot, but I don't want to lose my husband's Polaris. Can you or anyone tell me how I go about finding someone to repair it, not replace it? I'd appreciate any help. Like I said, I'm located in South Central Florida. Thank you

I have the same polaris with the same hi gear issue. Lowering the idle slightly fixed the issue
