Love your design. One trick I was taught to make beads of metal was to make my own jump rings in different sizes. Then when you want beads of the same size just use the same size jump ring and head away. As long as you use the same size wire your beads will be the same. There are so many ways to get to the finished product. I learned so much from watching and listening to your explanations. Thank you!
best quality jewelry making videos I've seen. please make more. more stuff. more styles. do plating. work with silver and gold. do diamond tipping and stone setting please. excited to see hat comes out this channel
All of your efforts are appreciated, so much so, that I have discovered my new hobby, polishing stones and making jewelry. Keep doing what you do, you are inspiring others to explore.
I'm floored. This is exactly what I've been trying to learn. Took 1 online course, then worked my way though a book - so I'm anxious to know how to do the rest. What you showed is EXACTLY what I've needed to know. As a lampworker, I want to include my own cabochon. Squeeee! I'm so excited. I realize this took you quite a long time to film, and all I can say is THANK YOU. To me - it's so worth it as I will go back and watch this over many times. You're the best! Thanks, Randy!
Fantastic! A tip for those balls. If you put them in a tea plastic tea strainer you A won't lose them and B, won't have to go fishing in your pickle to get them.
My goodness - this is just what I've been needing to see. I'm new to all this and stuck on adding the balls/bail part. Now I have a better idea of where I can do better - lots of information here. Also, my silver balls were getting stuck on the solderite board even with reheating. SO, I'll switch to my carbon block and use flux.... two important change ups. All I can say is THANK YOU - I know this is absolutely free information and I'm so very happy. You, kind sir, are wonderful.
I want to make steampunk items without using glue or adhesives watching this video is very informative and helpful, I had no idea how much effort it took to craft jewelry pieces by hand... it's unbelievably stunning work
+Grey Patches steampunk items can be made with little to no adhesive but it makes your job a lot harder. I have tryed to solder some gears using hard silver solder and the gears are so thin that they melt befor the solder does. One thing you can try is use posts to hold the gears on and flare out the top of the post the keep the gear from falling off.
That was very helpful! Thank you so very very much!! I know the time this takes can keep you from doing other things you enjoy, so thank you for sacrificing your time!
+Mama D Does Dinner I'm happy that you liked my video and found it helpful. :) I will be making shorter videos soon but I think it is good to have some longer and more detailed videos like this one. :)
okay your videos are wonderful. I have watched so many tutorials on this subject. you are a very good teacher/editor keep them coming!!!!! So glad I found you on UA-cam. Will watch this over and over again along with your other videos
I feel so bad that I am not yet in a position to support you and the other couple of channels that have taught me so much. I am not going to forget though and as soon as possible I will start doing the Patreon thing. I realise that this wasn't made in a couple of minutes and I'm so grateful for the tuition. Thanks again.
Thank you for the detailed tutorial video. I really appreciate you didn't speed up and show actually how long you spend on soldering as that's what I have trouble with most of the time as I'm a beginner. I made a similar pendant, after I soldered the bezel, I realised there's a tiny 0.5mm hairline gap at the top of the edge of the bezel. I've tried to filled it with more solder but it didn't work. What else can I do to close that gap? It will show as it has to be folded over the stone. Appreciate any tip. Thanks!
Beautiful piece, and what a great idea to use the segmented/ball wire to create your balls! I'm definitely going to add that to my repertoire! I was also blown away by how you soldered everything onto the backplate at one time. It didn't really look like all of the solder had flowed, and I was skeptical that it would all hold, but clearly it did.
+wendyannh soldering it like this can fail some times. If you do try this be sure to check that every part has been soldered. I took some time to learn the best solder placments to make this work every time.
I enjoyed watching you make this pendant. it is beautiful. I have a lot of this stone. I learned alot. thank you. Im waiting for some tools to arrive in a few minutes from UPS. Im getting a rolling mill. Im so excited. can't wait to use it. I have cleaned my silver scraps and to see how it comes out when I melt it how fun for me. lol I will watch you again. Oh I'm Mo short for Maureen
Thanks so much Randy for the very informative video. As a HVAC tech I have done a lot of silver soldering and sheet metal work and with help from videos and instructions from a pro like you I hope to start making some jewelry soon. Love your work!
WOW! You outdid yourself Randy! This is amazing! I've never seen anyone make something from the drawing to the end and I never knew you could do some of these steps. Especially putting all the edges on at once! I am blown away. I wish I could give you more than a thumbs up. I also wish I could take a class! you are astounding! Thank you SOOO much!
+Debbie Minter (Dharlee) No problem at all. I happy to hear that you learned something from my video :) One way you can help me out is using my affiliate links in the description when you need to buy supplies. Basically I get a small kickback from amazon if you use the link, and it don't cost you anything extra. Anyways, I will be making some new videos soon. :)
+Debbie Minter (Dharlee) if you use that link and buy anything on amazon it will still give me a kickback. I just have it set up so it will take you to items i use in my videos or things I have bought myself so if you navigate away from that it will still work.
Wow gorgeous work! I am wondering about the difference between your method and soldering? Soldering looks like a much faster process could you explain this to me please?
Well I obviously don’t k ow anything about this but before this video I’ve only ever seen the type of soldering with a soldering iron and a roll of silver like for electricians maybe. I was wondering if this would work instead of the solder pieces etc? It would probably just make a mess and be hard to control?
Oh ok, well I made a video talking about just that haha check it out and if you have any more questions please feel free to ask. ua-cam.com/video/r8nU0ZMZGFA/v-deo.html
Nice video! I haven’t even lit a torch yet, but this is what I want to ultimately make. I’m dreaming big, I know! I stumbled on your video, and with a lot of patience and practice, I think I can get a good start from what you showed! But there will be a lot of failures, but I’m OK with tha! I won’t use fancy stones... just beach glass for now. Thank you so very much!
Very nice work of yours. I do it the same way, just instead of using solder like urs, i use a lil bit of paste on the easy moving parts, and afterwards i use solder, it makes me use much less solder, it makes it easyer, and plus, the purity of the piece is much higher because i have to use less solder in total. This is just my expirience, but as i see it works on u so well done. Thnx for sharing.
I really like your video as well as your choice of music! I've already used your idea of how to make twisted wire. I'm making a pendant for a friend, so Ill send you a picture of the finished product when I'm done.
Thank you, it is nice to hear what people think of my work. I would like to see the pendant when you are done. If you have any questions fee free to ask and I will try to help as much as I can.
Thank you very much! This was just what i was looking for.I am wanting to start setting stones and cabachons. I am also hoping you will make more videos about your tools and equipment. I loved the tip on bending the wire with a drill. AWESOME. That piece is so beautiful whoever gets it will be blessed for sure. please do make a channel or blog i will definitely follow you.
Well hello! I'm happy to hear that you found this video helpful. My next video will go into a lot more detail on how I set a stone into different kinds of bezels. I do have a video showing the tools that I use along with links to all of them in the description, here is a link to the video ua-cam.com/video/w5MmEC5Bv8U/v-deo.html If you have any more questions please feel free to ask.
When making twisted wire, I get a standard household (screw in) hook and place it in the drill. I clamp the two ends of the wire together in a vise. Hook the wire and pull steadily to straighten it with the drill before twisting. You do not want hard areas in the wire before twisting. Pull the drill with strength and start twisting. Also, before I solder a bezel in place, I always place the misshaped bezel around the stone and use a bezel rocker to work the bezel into a perfect match to the stone. The stone should "nearly" fall into the bezel if you get it right. Thank for posting the videos. I enjoy watching good informative material such as this. Better than TV any day ;)
Thank you for all that useful info, I'm sure it will help out people looking through the comments 😁👍 also I'm happy you found my video interesting haha.
Great video, and shows all the essentials in such short time! I have just a couple of small tips for anyone making something like this: if the bezel is a bit too small you can gently hammer it all around - it will stretch a bit and the stone will fit and you don't have to remove any material (this will also flatten the seam in case it's any thicker). Then, placing the spot where the ends are soldered together at the bottom edge will make it most invisible (sometimes seams can oxidize a bit differently from the surrounding material during time, this way it doesn't show on the side). Last, some softer stones need to be protected from polishing mediums so it's good to do most of polishing before setting the stone and just do the last cleanup afterwards. Just some small tips I've learned, your example is absolutely beautiful and needed none of these advice but thought I'd share them anyway!
This is awesome! Very thorough and not annoying. Looking forward to checking out your other videos as I start out on this jewelry-making journey. Thanks for making the vid :)
Amazing video! So thorough, yet your editing made it easy to watch all the way through. I picked up numerous tips - thank you so much for your hard work!
If I may ask: At 18.18, after cutting out the pendant, it seems you did not pickle it before setting the stone - just polished it. I´d love to learn why that is *.*

Well hello! I'm happy to hear that you found this video helpful. My next video will go into a lot more detail on how I set a stone into different kinds of bezels.
I do have a video showing the tools that I use along with links to all of them in the description, here is a link to the video ua-cam.com/video/w5MmEC5Bv8U/v-deo.html
If you have any more questions please feel free to ask.
How do you make the silver beads?
The silver balls are made by just melting some silver. 😀👍 I can make a video about this if it would be helpful.

Great video, and shows all the essentials in such short time! If I may ask: At 18.18, after cutting out the pendant, it seems you did not pickle it before setting the stone - just polished it. I´d love to learn why that is *.*
I was just test fitting the stone and I took it out to pickle it and cleaned it up. 😅👍
@@GomeowCreations So you pickled after all. Alright! You´re too kind to take the time for this, but it does make me happy :)
Haha yep and no problem 😊 sorry it took so long to get back to you.
Great video, can you recommend a reasonable place to purchase casting grains ?
Love it!!!!
I love this. Thank you for sharing it. I learned so many little tid bits 😃
I'm happy it helped. =) I hope I can make more videos soon.
