2024 Triumph TF250X test: Riding the British bike | Lowdown from Ricky Carmichael & Jeff Stanton

- It's Triumph's first ever production motocross bike and MotoHead's Dave Willet was one of the first to ride the stock machine in Florida.
With an all-Triumph engine and hand-welded aluminium frame, KYB spring suspension, Brembo brakes and hydraulic clutch, Bellville washer spring clutch, smartphone mapping, forged aluminium triple clamps and more, it's a cutting-edge machine for £9795. Claimed to weigh just 104kg and put out 47.4bhp at 13,5000 rpm, it's ready to take on the best of the rival race bikes.
Dave talks at length with two men who helped develop the bike, Ricky Carmichael and Jeff Stanton. And he gets the update on Triumph's plans for the future in terms of a 450 motocross bike, enduro models, a youth range and potential plans for a British championship assault.
Welcome back to your roots gentlemen - I think you really have developed a new machine to be proud of. Looking forward to some great racing.
The fact Triumph let these guys help them develop is pretty cool
The bike looks great… exciting times ahead for triumph 🇬🇧… RC and co have put the imput in and they listened 👏👏👏👏
i believe....from what i have heard during this interview....TF250X (balanced/nimble)can easily be setup for woods racing today
Got to demo the bike two weeks ago and I am very impressed. The bike handles perfect, power delivery is smooth and all usable power. Triumph did a fantastic job.
We hope you guys enjoyed the tracks. Thanks for coming
With Ricky on the Team
I think Triumph are very smart a GOAT on your team is surely a winning factor.
Raced for 30 yrs in South Africa and tuned my own race bikes ,just watching the bike this one the track listening and watching it on the track see how it works,it's unbelievable first out the gate , Triumph has done as a team is unbelievable achievement,I would definitely by one ,watched the Ducati it hurt to watch it on the track made me grimace. Winner Triumph well done 🎉
I wont lie, i dont really like 4 strokes but at like 1:20 when the music hit and the ba shots of the bike and riders started i got kinda jazzed up lol... i really hope they do well
now you guys need to come out with a 2 stroke line up!!!
Husqvarna FE350 rider waiting to see what Triumph come up with for the Enduro.
It’s coming dude
@@davewillet4764 yes it is. Aaaaahhhh yeah
Same, if they make a proper 350 woods bike i'll buy one day 1.
Great review and interview guys 👌
Well done for bagging the interviews m8! No other outlets managed that ! Very informative! 👍
We like to be different and thanks dude
@@davewillet4764 I will be buying the 450 when it’s available that’s for sure, gotta keep it British 🇬🇧 😜
@@LEEROY_UKit’s coming at the end of the year
I'm excited for this bike and i don't ride anymore.
Can't wait to see them on the track.
I just took delivery of my new TF250X and once I did the break in period, I can tell you the bike is UNREAL!!!! THE BEST 250 EVER!! The bike has awesoem power, incredible handling and the fit and feel is so amazing. Triumph got it right!!!
Congrats, hows the frame and suspension feel on the rough stuff ? what are you coming off?
I raced that track... It's spectacular!!
Great interview 👏
Very cool bike. Impressive performance right out of the gate too
Great job Dave you come across well an asked the right questions 4 me well done bud !!
Not saying you’re a big guy but it looks like it’ll handle the vet riders that don’t want all the power of a 450. I guess what I’m saying is you looked good and made it so if I don’t consider it for my next purchase it wouldn’t be wise.
Great job on showing it ❤
Can’t wait for the 450 in Q4 this year
not here for the bike but here to watch the goat ride !
Awesome Dave looks a ripper
Nice looking bike. But I wouldn't swap one Maico 490 for one.
Engine does sound meaty.
If it lasts as long as a Honda they will sell like hot cakes forever, they should come with the aftermarket exhaust out of the factory tbh.
The bikes look great but that aside. I would give anything to sit in the sun a chat with Ricky and jeff
I could of sat there all day long with them to legends
those Torx bolts need to go but what a machine !
? torx is good
Buy a couple torx pieces for a ratchet that you can torque to spec, along with a few T-handles? A couple different sizes will strip the whole bike down...You're getting a real GET ECU ($1,000 on its own) KYB forks and shock that out of the box are and have been best in class for a long while...you don't get any better than Brembo brakes, lightweight ProTaper carbon fiber bars, Odi lock on grips, a fully hand welded aluminum frame..The cases, head/porting, hubs, exhaust that you can re-pack like it's an aftermarket cannister since the cap isn't riveted on, all that and more made totally in house at Triumph....and by far the best fit and finish of any motocross bike.
So, i think you can buy a couple tools... Since that's the first and only thing you mentioned, you're honestly just looking for something to complain about, just like every other person online these days... When you should be looking at all these other things to be excited about. I couldn't give a shit about some torx bolts...come on.
47hp @ 13,5000 rpm WOW!
Impressed good sound much respect. You will have to win to get sales.
You're absolutely right, but it makes no sense. People base their purchasing decisions, of a production bike which is often far different from the factory bike, based on the results of the top few pros who can win on any brand.
I haven't seen one rider put this product on the box at AMA Supercross 2024. Until then I'll wait to purchase. 😎
Motorcross and Supercross is mainly about the rider the bike is good enough
to win races but without the top riders, they won't win many races.
So far the bike has come 6th in one race in the u.s, but it's done well so
far in Europe with 2 2nds, 1, 3rd and a 4th.
Ha ha ha, like an AMA SX track is in any way relevant to what you ride on 😂
I’m sure the bike will be good for the sport anything on the line other than orange ,white or red is a good thing
BOSS looking bike
I'll be watching to see if that motor is only going to be short mileage MX - low service intervals and hard work. If not, they should build a range of modular bikes around it. Its a bit unlike Triumph to over-focus on an engine the way they have seem to have done. But they are big enough now to do these programs.
Will there be a 2 stroke?
🤞🏻
Triumph don't make 2 stroke bikes
Didn’t get the name of the guy doing the interview and riding
🙋🏻♂️ #TheGodFather
@@davewillet4764 you certainly look fast on the new triumph !
I think this will be a good strong bike, I would love to get my hands on one but id definitely change the graphics
😂
@6:20 way to jump in there Jeff….they were just rambling on like you ain’t a legend ya damn self
The English are coming!
It will take years befor that up on top I think
Rather see a steel frame than aluminum myself
If the punters saw Ricky put his gear on again and win a SX main or a a couple of Nationals or even a British Round then people will buy the bike but we need to see it WIN Mike Brown could still win a national against a bunch of teen agers
Interesting
2 stroke range?????😢
51 hp thats more then any 250 f by a long shot ktm is next best bike at 47 hp
Its sad that American companies are too focused on fast return on investments. Thats why manufacturing is leaving America
Johnson John Thompson Robert Perez Jennifer
Ya he’s tired of sitting through interviews.
People will buy a YZ250f.
People will buy these bikes but if Triumph wants to be really successful
they have to splash the cash and sign the best riders in the U.S and Europe
in my opinion. win on Sunday and sell on Monday is the way forward.
British bike from Thailand lol
😂 I find it kind of funny Triumph, British made in Thailand and the British media has to go to America to see it 😅
build quality is probably bad
@@keith80alexander
They have them in the UK but a U.K reveal wouldn't gravitate as much as it would in the U.S
Plus even though Triumph is a British company the project is basically a 50 50 split between
the U.K and the U.S.
From a business standpoint, it makes sense
@@moto3463
All the top car brands and motorcycle brands have plants in Thailand
Does it have it's own pronouns to go with it's identity ?
So....the whole video...and didn't even show Ricky in 1 turn. Stupid.
Rick needs to get checked out he has something medical kicking in Parkinson's or dementia something is not right with his speech
Nothing wrong with his speech, he is a home schooled southern boy
