idk about fortnite, but what killed consoles for me is the fact that there's no focus left on being social.
like you said in your video, it was so easy to get in party chats on the 360, open lobbies everyone had a mic on, and on SnD on CoD the mics were forced to game chat. idk, I feel like to community-feeling died after that console generation.

Yea. Xbox love parties are cool and all for some close friends playing different games, but a lot of the close friends I have I never would have found in the first place without social lobbies. I’ve met some of my best friends in life through random pre/post game lobbies. Yea you’d occasionally find the d bags or little squeakers but that’s why mute exists in the first place. Most of the time it was just chill and could also get hilarious.

The 7th generation onwards is where I’ve started to notice a flattening trend in graphical improvements. The trend kicked off on November 22nd, 2005, Perfect Dark Zero, a launch title for the Xbox 360, marked the start of this trend. It was a “next gen game”, but Halo 2 on the Original Xbox still looked 100x better.

Something that stands out to me as a 27 year old boomer is the fact that everything has updates now. Like, when I plugged my N64 in for the first time, I was playing Super Smash Bros instantly, and the game I got on launch, was the game I'm playing over a decade later, so they had to get it right the first time or not at all. Every console also had their own cozy and memorable menu style in the generation after that which made it stand out from each other and that's what it was like forever, and how it solidified in our minds over time.
Nowadays, everything's just kind of this formless mush of ever changing identity. Even the Xbox 360 as one platform had like three iterations of its menu that in my personal opinion got worse every time even if it may have become more efficient to actually navigate, and I think people just kinda figured like, "well, on PC I can just make it whatever I want anyway so that's kinda the most logical version of this."
As it always ever was, people want innovation and fixed identity that makes something stand out and be special, this is why Nintendo still sells a lot despite having underpowered hardware. When that general philosophy largely left the industry, exclusivity never really felt justified, because consoles just started to feel like low budget PCs you had less control over than a PC.
The problem isn't console vs. PC, it's choice vs no choice these days. The difference used to matter, now it does not. And honestly? I think this is an improvement too, because it's opening the market for stuff like Steam Deck to worm it's way in and get time to shine, where it's no longer about the platform, but the form factor in which you get to play, and the amount of customization and backwards compatibility you have.
This is the best possible outcome, my favorite thing about Xbox Series S for example was that with Devmode (before they started taking that away) you could load up Retroarch and play several generations of consoles on it. If we're going to have the formless identity, I hope they go whole hog with it and just continue to pursue better and more exciting ways ways of having said formlessness in the palms of our hands. Even VR has ways of just letting you sit down at a large virtual screen and play older non VR stuff inside of VR like with EmuVR.

You're definitely hitting on some solid points here. Another thing to consider is gaming isn't evolving at the rate it used to. If you go back to like 1991 the NES was one of, if not the most popular console at the time. By 1999 we had the dreamcast come out which was a MAJOR upgrade. That's a really short time for such drastic improvement. For the last few generations we haven't really seen too many new major innovations.

    • @GBDupree
      @GBDupree 2 роки тому +15

For another good perspective, because of the new Switch Sports (sequel to Wii Sports) coming out, someone said that how long from the original Wii sports to now is actually LONGER than the timeframe between the original Wii sports to Super Mario World on the SNES. So, the timeframe from the SNES just getting started, to the era of the PS360 starting, was shorter than the PS360 to now. While the PS3 graphics haven't aged the best, they aren't as drastic as the changes from the NES to the GameCube for example.
I mean, outside of better lighting, particle effects, and this technique that makes skin softer and more natural looking, the PS4/XBONE games weren't all that noticeably better than the latter end PS360 games, and the PS5 and XBSX/SS don't really look different at all so far (though I suppose I haven't really paid attention to their graphics TBH). The newest gen just feels like an optimization of last gen, they aren't better graphically, but they run smoother and load faster, which is what PC has been doing for years.

It's... insane. Despite me having an XSX and a PS5, the only consoles I actually have an interest in playing are consoles such as the 360, PS3, and suchlike. I have the mental imagery in my head of what it was like shopping around in a Super Target, or a Gamestop during 2007.. and seeing the tall glass kiosks filled to the brim with actually meaningful legendary games and consoles that were actually worth a damn. Gaming took pride in itself back then, unlike how it does nowadays. Nothing... AND I MEAN NOTHING, will ever replicate the awesomeness of being a gamer in the mid to late 2000s. Nothing.

    • @dazintheoven

I think maybe back then gaming was an *experience*, now its just something to do because everyone else is doing it, and just a way to pass the time, once every derp & derpina piled in it just became a thing to do for the lack of other things to do, and to keep non-trad gamers hooked, gaming was reduced to the lowest common denominator, and that ripped out the spirit of what that experience was. True gamers would turn up their noses at bad gaming, but non-trads seem to be in the majority now & will eat up any garbage shovelled them, then scream for more and bring their politics with them.

I don't disagree with you, though - the current state of the industry is the way it is because people let all the BS big gaming publishers do slide... Players fully control the industry with their bucks, the problem is that the major public doesn't seem to really care that much...
But honestly, I find it hard to genuinely blame people for that. I respect people who just want to have fun time with games without being overly serious about them. The sad thing is, though, it strips them away of critically looking into what they're being fed and making a conscious purchase. Heck, even experienced gamers fall for it - I've seen dozens of cases of people who were into games for at least a decade; they still preordered Battlefield 2042.
Maybe it's because we still want to believe in good games?
We are being so oversaturated with... *everything* nowadays, and it's the global struggle of self-control we're talking about here, not just games at this point. We are writing essays here in the comments of a videohosting service, mind it (...or maybe just me). We as a species weren't prepared for such overabundance... Of course we're going to have time with that.

PS fanboys are a unique breed that's for sure, they've always been the most fervent to their brand. You would think Nintendo fans would be because they still stand apart uniquely from the competition, but they learned very early on that having multiple consoles is a good thing, or even better: the Nintendo and PC combo. While the Xbox fans slowly got over their bias last gen because so many skipped out on the XBOne for the PS4, while those that did get it were usually disappointed at first or quickly realized how little they were missing out on (Bloodborne, GOW 4, and Spiderman are the ONLY good exclusives on there, unless I forgot one), and now Gamepass has quickly made XBONE superior to PS4 in a lot of ways (though they are still mostly the same). And of course, the recent releasing of Exclusives to PC has quickly made the console wars purely obsolete as neither system provide enough uniqueness to be worth defending, merely preference.

Well, actually, I know the reason - I turned into depressed Grandpa Simpson - but it also means so much of video game culture's evolution left me as a passive observer. I watch more videos *about* video games these days than I play them myself.

There definitely is something off and different about games in general nowadays. It's too much about the never-ending "Live Service" games or games designed to just sell you more stuff, or just open world boxes (no sand included) with menial tasks to complete. Like the new Lego Star Wars is just that, an open box that makes you walk back and forth to watch cutscenes while the occasional fight happens that practically plays itself, lacking all the charm and fun of the original.
It's all Ubisoft Open world clones, or boring Uncharted-esque "hold stick forward to win the cinematic experience" games, both of which have several money-making schemes built in. At least Dark Souls brought back some life into games before the clones came in to sap the uniqueness away while not allowing any other alternatives. Even Yakuza lost a lot of its uniqueness by becoming just another RPG.
It's certainly not all doom and gloom, plenty of great games still, but there is this heavy wet blanket over gaming that is hard to ignore. And certainly, some genres are more affected than others. I weep for horror games, because they are all boring walking simulators, and the only ones that are decent aren't scary (like the new Resident evils are nice, but lacking, and are plagued with a lot of modern game design tropes that hurt the experience, and aren't any scarier than RE5 and 6 were, as in not at all, but those had more content and strategy to their gameplay somehow). But Shooters are still in a good place if you are willing to cast aside the old guard of CoD/BF/Halo for something new, and that's even if you hate the Battle Royale stuff.

I can definitely see what you mean. The Switch is a huge seller with some of the best games of the generation for many, but it doesn't FEEL like it, unlike the Wii. But I think this can be explained by either our personal age (just getting old I suppose) or society's current apathetic feeling for everything. It feels like no matter how big it is, it's still a coinflip if it feels big. The Wii was big, and you could feel it, as well as the other 2 consoles feeling Big in their own way at the time. Yet I wasn't so enthralled with the N64 or PS1 era though, but I have a lot of love and nostalgia for the Wii U of all things. So maybe this is just a slow generation, or perhaps it's the lack of the social connection. Perhaps Miiverse made Wii U special enough that the Switch feels lacking, like how Wii was everywhere on TV and had the initial boom of internet memes to propel it socially too. Much like how the video mentions online play as being the thing that made the PS360 so special.

Being 26 almost 27, I've seen gaming grow and change from the time I was three to now. I think when you talk about socialization it all depends on if you grew up with it or not. When I was 8 years old that's when Xbox live started to really become a thing. We're talking about the original Xbox that he's here when it was in its prime. Prior to that, it was all LAN or split screen co-op. You started gaming in a time where that was becoming the norm. And now that it's commonplace and they don't really add to it it just doesn't feel the same. People don't want to go into open lobbies and talk with others anymore because they can have private party chats talk with people they really want to talk with and not have anybody screaming at them for 2 seconds. To put it bluntly, you feel this way because it was what you you up with and now that it's stagnated you kind of feel like something is missing. I'll tell you, I don't play multiplayer games. They bore me to death. There was a time when I did enjoy it, but the novelty quickly wore off. And it simply because I didn't grow up with it and a lot of the games that are multiplayer aren't in the genre of games I care about. This is normal especially when you become an adult and you see how commonplace certain things are. That's why consoles don't hit for you as much as they would somebody else, but people that are way younger than us 5 to 8 years old don't feel this way. Those that do, are pretty much the outliers. I'm sorry, I'll stop rambling. This is just the thoughts of someone that's been in the game and culture for the better part of 24 years and I understand how you feel in this aspect. Just know it happens.

    • @russellpreston1
      @russellpreston1 Рік тому +2

@@GabrielFrags You see, that's another thing too. Went online gaming became the norm, video game started to become mainstream and that was a lot of the Public's first exposure to the medium. Nowadays, I'm seeing a lot of people shy away from online gaming to some extent. Games like Elden ring have shown that online multiplayer kind of gets bored after a while you don't always have to be online and play with people to have fun. If the trend keeps up especially if companies jam microtransactions and the light down north roads we might see a Renaissance in single player gaming if we haven't already. The only reason it became popular back in the PS3 and Xbox 360 arrow was it was a new concept with new infrastructure. However, that generation didn't really introduce anything groundbreaking. Neither did the PS4 generation. There hasn't been this new thing for gamers to watch on to. For the 16 bit era it was the console wars, for the 32-bit and 64-bit errors it was 3D graphics and gaming. For the PlayStation 2 and Xbox era it was an expansion of video game storytelling in the beginning of the online multiplayer we know of today. The last two generations haven't had anything like that. What has set the PS4 and PS5 generations apart so far is their willingness to embrace single player games and move away from multiplayer games.
I think this is a good thing. Now, multiplayer games won't go away, obviously. I can see them being less prominent if this trend keeps up especially again, with the microtransactions being jammed down people's throats. I think gamers have started to catch on to what publishers are trying to do and they're becoming more selective with the games they're starting to play. A game like Elden ring back during Xbox live's Hay Day we're talking like 2005 to 2008 wouldn't have been nearly as popular.

One big advantage that PC has over consoles is that if you buy something on Steam, it stays in your library forever, even if you get a new PC. But with consoles, you often have to buy new versions of the games you already own on a previous generation's console. For example, if you buy GTA V on Steam, you can keep upgrading your PC and it will still stay there. However if you bought GTA V on the PS3, you had to buy it again on the PS4 and the PS5.

"... you can keep upgrading your PC..."
Lost me and many normies there, specially as I only care to have a laptop I only replace when it inevitably breaks every few years.
That said, the convergence is happening, in which consoles are adding evermore of their library to their servers and gaining PC-level power, therefore blurring the line; and likewise, dedicated gaming PCs are becoming evermore like consoles, trying to have gimmicks and exclusive features that set them apart, therefore also blurring the line.
Perhaps exclusive features will include temporarily exclusive games; in fact, as console and gaming PC companies converge into selling the same standardized machine experience to everyone, perhaps they will resort to trading devs/studios/gaming franchises, as in sports, and do more and more of the publishing themselves (see MS-Activision), in order to try to one up each other based on games alone. Many cool indie games will get their chance to be online everywhere, but also will be exposed to way more competition than the one in a single console system...

When I was 6, me and my brother got a Wii U and 3ds for Christmas, and my fondest gaming memories still come from those systems (we had a Wii for 2 years but I don’t remember as much from it). It wasn’t until I turned 9, that I was finally able to convince my mom to get me a Ps4, and I loved it to death. While I had to share the Nintendo consoles with my brother, the Ps4 was the only one I could really call mine. I had it for about 3 years, but it broke right at the beginning of lockdown, when it was super hard to get ahold of consoles. Luckily, I was able to find a new Xbox one S from Walmart for pretty cheap, and its really brought me through Covid. And even though all the kids at my school are talking about the Ps5 and PC, I have no intentions of getting them in the near future. The games that I sink hours into now (Cod BO4, GTA V, Far Cry 4), will always be playable on my Xbox. Not only that, but it feels like games coming out now focus too much on looking the best and being realistic, which are two of the things I care the least about in a game.

As a person who loves and grew up playing on consoles, the reason I wasn't hyped for this next gen is because they have nothing going for it. Back in the 360 and ps3 days or hell even before that, console gaming had a place because there were tons of exclusives that was used as a brilliant way to advertise their consoles and on top of that it was just getting into the online multiplayer and friends era where tons of people would play with each other and make friends and almost every match of Halo would have some people talking. The consoles also had a lot of style, the UI and the color schemes.
But now, the latest consoles don't have any of that. Sure, they have better hardware, but it lacks all of the stuff that made it so great. People don't game chat anymore, most people moved to pc, the UI for the Xbox One and Series X is the most boring uninspired thing ever, there aren't as many good exclusives especially for the xbox, and the game industry has hit the shitter recently with all the games being lazily made and released broken with tons of microtransactions and no passion. It is a sad era for video games. I guess you can call this era: The Great Game Depression. (2014-2022)

I grew up with the Wii and Wii U, so many of the things the X360 and PS3 propelled is still new to me. I never saw a personal interest to play games like CoD or GTA, they just didn’t interest me.
I remember feeling such highs playing games like Mario Galaxy 2, Mario Kart Wii and Sonic Colours for the first time, it felt special. I didn’t feel that with XBOX and PlayStation.
After I found out that Minecraft exists and some Next-Gen Sonic games, I got my hands on an XBOX 360, but never went online with it (it was 2015 at this point). Playing games like Minecraft and Sonic Unleashed & Generations were special in their own way.
Something I feel is different from the norm is that I like single-player games with some story attached. It’s why I never got into Fortnite, but I really enjoy Mario Galaxy.
I got an XBOX ONE X, but after Minecraft released on Wii U, I didn’t bother with the ONE X anymore, and just sold it.
Playing games like Sonic 06 was also interesting, seeing how overblown the hate was.
I got great experiences out of games like Xenoblade 2, Sonic Mania and Mario Odyssey.
For PC, I tried, but it just wasn’t for me. TF2 was nice to try, but there wasn’t enough to keep me on, especially when Undertale, FNAF and DDLC (cult classic indie titles) made their way to consoles.
5 years on, the Switch is still my personal gaming system, with the Wii U, 3DS and XBOX 360 still around.

I think that the reason why consoles are nearly "dead" now is because of two things:
    1. You had to get a membership to play online. What kind of ridiculous bullshit is that? I paid for a product, I shouldn't have an entire experience inaccessible because some asshat over at corporate decided they wanted more money.
    2. Lack of forced game chat.

Really great video dude. I just found your channel and I'm really enjoying your content :)
I did want to share my own thoughts on gaming as someone who was never really big on the online scene. So, besides my Switch, which I got in summer of 2020, my last home console was a Wii U in 2014. Before that it was the PS3 in 2010. Unfortunately, my family is poor af so we basically missed out on the whole eighth generation of gaming. I don't really care about the online games, like at all, but I know there are so many PlayStation exclusives like Spider-Man and God of War that I've just never had the chance to play. This is why consoles still appeal to me, and I would be over the moon if I could find a reasonably priced PS5. I've seen so many people say that they don't care about the PS5 bc they already have a PS4, but I unfortunately never had that luxury. Hopefully I can find one soon 🤞

I think my main issue is that graphics and processing power can't really get that much farther, in my opinion.
The graphical change from 2K to 4K happened long before the PS5 and Xbox Series X came out, so what's next, really?
It seems that every next console generation up until now has had major upgrades, but the current next-gen consoles don't feel that different.

Much of this is simply dependent on social aspect (what your friends play, how the console fostered its social eco system, etc...), and the game(s) available to play, that's all, it goes hand in hand. Gaming is about experiences. Xbox 360 had a revolutionary party chat feature that was far beyond what any console did, and some of the best multi player games of all time (Gears, Halo, the best CODs from 2007-2012, etc...). When you and your entire group of friends all played say MW2, it was the best multiplayer gaming experience ever in one of the best CODs ever . You and up to 5 friends filled up an SnD lobby, forced game chat made it so you had to interact with the other team between rounds/games, led to incredibly fun times, making new friends, heated rivalries, etc... so it added an entire social aspect that is simply no where near as alive now as it was then. Not much of this is dependent on hardware power, as these experiences were all on 2005 hardware with 512MB of RAM.

Been gaming since 4 with Spyro, Army Men 3D, DMC, and MGS.
Modern gaming has become rather...sterile. There's occasionally highlights that are genuinely great games!
But there's so many that just feel sterile in the AAA space. And whereas bad games use to be fun to check out...I mean Inversion, Shellshock 2, Fall of Liberty, etc we now get just trash. Mainly thinking PS4 which ends up with some absolute garbage that I don't see how Sony allowed on the platform.
I will say that going through itch.io and steam I've found alot more of those "hidden gem" titles like Alisa, Dread X Collection, and so many strange oddities that remind me of ps2 & 360 days.
Literally bought a game called Roma Invicta and while yeah its not great it's something I could easily see being on the Xbox marketplace for 360.
Nowadays mainstream AAA just says "look how pretty we are" or "listen to our message you, BIGOT!"
Oh and you also get TLOU2 cases where the devs act like crawling and hiding in grass is some new feature.
I don't really get just...games. it's one reason I really enjoy Elden Ring. It's just a fun game with a cool story and a world that says, go nuts!
Also side note but....FEAR 1, MGS2/3, and Far Cry 2 still have the best dynamic ai to this day. Stealth games still use hive mind tactics!
Far Cry 2 has the largest range of ai actions I've ever seen and it still has not been replicated. FEAR? What do I need to say about that other than the level designer and AI lead dev were banging.
Anyways that my rant. Maybe it didn't make sense or maybe it did. I'm just typing on the spot.
We need less greed and laziness and more just...actual talent!

    • @GBDupree
      @GBDupree 2 роки тому +1

Alien Isolation is another game with great AI, you should look up how it works. It's sad that its AI style hasn't been adopted for more things. Imagining if RE3 remake had that AI for Nemesis rather than the crap cutscenes we got instead is so sad. or even having it for a new MGS style game for every soldier (though MGS2/3 was already good enough in the AI department).
But yeah, it's all about homogenization of game mechanics now. That's why I hated the First TLOU getting so popular, seeing as it's a barebones amalgamation of whatever was popular at the time, but simplified for the Journalists to handle. It's just The Walking Dead Season 1 (the game, not TV Show, because the game had the same story as TLOU and came out beforehand and was so popular that it was an obvious candidate to rip off, but with all the bite taken away), with 3rd person mechanics slapped on (since they were all the rage at the time, and why wouldn't they just reuse the code from Uncharted? It's not like they were planning to make it engaging and have depth like other 3rd person shooters anyways) And "crafting" because Minecraft (just no actual crafting, its just a poorly designed extra step for normal item acquisition in other games). But because it was so popular, developers realized they could put in the minimal effort into their gameplay and people will eat it up and act like it's the second coming of games. It then led to some developers going the extra step and making walking simulators to see how far they could go, and that somehow worked too!
So now we have games removing as much gameplay from the players control as possible, or games that are just Ubisoft sandboxes that throw in half-baked versions of what is popular. Right now its Ubisoft sandboxes either with some Dark Souls stuff added in or plain FPS stuff, but either one is just an excuse for a live service system to take money.

Honestly from my perspective the complete opposite happened. The only system I would ever actually game on was the PC. And honestly, after so many years of playing only on PC, new games started to feel so lame and I thought I was starting to not even want to play any games. Until I got a PS5, it was so refreshing to just turn it on and instantly be in a game within seconds. I didn't have to type in 20 god damn passwords, wait for the game to load, find out that my drivers were out dated, go update it, restart my computer, then put in 30 more passwords, and THEN I could play the damn game. Of course that's an extreme example. But after years and years of doing that It just got so tedious for me. Even though I have a PS5 I will admit I still put up with PC bullshit to play a FPS with a mouse, I CANNOT even try to aim on a controller. So yeah great video, I just thought it was interesting that your story is actually pretty similar to mine just on opposite ends. You earned a Sub from me.

I miss slightly more primitve blocky polygonal stuff where you had to use more Imagination and fill In the blanks , I miss the lo-fi
blurry foggy unintended extra atmosphere (due to tech limitations) , game design was In a perfect uncanny valley during 6th + 5th gen
(1998 - 2004 or 1996 - 2006). Older games retain their character and charm because they look play and feel unique and unorthodox ,
games took risks back when we had no sure-thing blueprint to copy-paste your way to success , and gamers weren't conditioned
to support or accept bad practices. There was no preassure of missing out due to social media awareness and online trends ,
there was also no political correct agendas that could be weaponized to Influence or dictate game design In any way , there was no mandatory Inclusiveness or concern you either like someone's game or you didn't. Our entire society Is so messed up and generic nowdays

I can definitely see things cruising along just fine through current 9th gen , and 10th gen after this. Beyond that though I wouldn't be surprised If gaming and hardware cycles drastically change or exist In a different way where they're an Irrelevant niche speciality for access.
8th gen wasn't really a console war anyway It was over before anything started , and Microsoft prettymuch quit competing , they're playing a differen't war now with different mega-corp opponents ever since they they launched Gamepass and prioritized their goal of digital streaming anywhere and becoming the "Netflix" of gaming. (Netflix Is losing tons of subscribers lately btw and tv streaming services are all overpriced and no longer In a chord cutting golden age , with little unique left to offer It's mostly 95 percent same rotated content). It seems like Microsoft Is forcing the Industry to adapt faster than It would've to predominantly digital streaming , It's a long-term war Sony can't afford to play or at least not dominate because It's more about raw cash on hand than game design talent or creative effort. I personally like "console wars" , friendly competition , and lots of walled garden exclusives , and I'll always support physical media and hardware.

seriously? Even weak graphics cards are more expensive than consoles. Often the community has to troubleshoot and patch lazy console ports to PC where the games run better on console even with weaker hardware. Windows 11 sucks and more needs to be done to integrate Linux. Also how many services on PC with Steam, Microsoft, Epix, GOG, etc? Also consoles still have exclusives as in everything by Nintendo and many Playstation games are still exclusive (Bloodborne is 7 years old now, no PC Port?) and many PS games ported were done so many YEARS after their initial release like HZD, GoW, Spiderman, etc. I mean those games are like all 5 years old now?

the future timeline for consoles was always transparent: after the fight for graphics, it was about exclusives, which caused the want for cross platform play. the next stage is the decline of consoles by affordable computers that can run most games at high fidelity. whats less obvious is the current renewed interest in handheld gaming. what was the 2DS dominating PS Vita is now the switch vs the upcoming steam deck

One thing i do know is that people for sure do not talk in games anymore, i played (and still once in a while) play roblox but like most online games, no one conversates at all. its strange considering everyone likes multiplayer so much that games dont even care about the singleplayer story modes anymore. yet no one conversates online. another point you made in the video, there was no urge to upgrade from the xbox one or ps4 to ps5 and series x, but the 360 and ps3 were such old hardware that 90% of people stopped using them because the lower graphics quality so there is still some urge for people to upgrade to atleast the ps4 or xbx one.

There were no free to play games really, def not full games you could posses. It’s pretty shocking to see tbh. I’m glad and also jealous

I feel the same way. I’m not a fan of modern gaming between micro transactions and no more fun shit talking

Same. I bought a Series X and mainly use it to play backwards compatible titles. My PC plays mostly games from a decade or more ago.

Honestly this is why i hated the 7th gen era of consoles. Exclusivity is what held many console gamers against one another with brand loyalty and created a toxic environment that still holds till this day. Now there might have been wars since the 80s (Atari vs Coleco, Vectrex, etc.) And even the Snes vs Genesis era being the most iconic, but at least now for the first time we're cutting the ties of exclusivity and porting everything on PC and thanking Fortnite (of all things) of helping PC gaming explode among many other titles such as PUBG, COD warzone, Halo infinite, Overwatch, Battlefield,.etc.

the PS5 (and PS4) could have had so many more Games, if Sony didn't shut down their own Studios and kill off many beloved Games.
Remember Dark Cloud, SSX, Champions of Norrath, God Hand, Resistance, Black, Drakengard, Shadowhearts, Spartan Total Warrior, Def Jam, Fight Night, Urban Reign, Viewtiful Joe, Twisted Metal, Motorstorm, PSI Ops, Ghosthunter, Splashdown, Colony Wars, Nuclear Strike, Jak n Dexter, Sly Cooper, Midnight Club, The Warriors, The Bouncer, Extreme G3, Wipeout, Ridge Racer, Tokio Extreme Racers, etc...?
All dead and burried and now Sony is making a Pikachu face, asking why the PS5 only has 8 exclusives, after over 2 years.

Great video!!! I bought a PS5 and Xbox s, and played halo infinite, god of war Ragnarok and stray, now they're collecting dust. I'm playing my PS3 a ton, just finished the original fear and starting spec ops the line. Games are all AAA or indie now, a lot has changed! Keep up the good work. I do miss the open chat, lol, it was great.

I think people don’t realize that the difference between the series X in the series S is much more than a disk drive. The series x has more powerful components that allow the games to be run at a higher resolution and frame rate. I think that the series S is an amazing console but it is very misleading in the video to say that there is virtually no difference.

if you want a higher resolution and framerate you should get a pc

I agree with you on single player games. I’ve been a console gamer my whole life and recently got a pc setup, but I can’t be bothered to play single player games at my desk. I love to just sit on the couch with the ps5.

you can play pc games on the couch. All you need is a wireless mouse, keyboard and Xbox controller. My last console was a modified 60 gig Ps3 running custom software I still use for emulators. That and my pc is all I need lol
