i’m doing a reading journal for the first time for 2024 so i’ve been watching a ton of these videos but they had me feeling so discouraged cause i’m such a bright colour girlie and most people do theirs super muted and sepia toned. this is such a breath of fresh air and such good inspiration that it can still be cute and colourful! thank you for this!!
Neutral journal themes seem to be pretty common for reading journals I’ve noticed too! But I am certainly a bright colour girl 😅 I’m glad you enjoyed it, good luck setting up your own journal 🩷
oh this is so cute! for january you could draw cassette tape ribbon to write titles in too to switch things up a bit! even have the tape going down the sides as a border/to write numbers in if the page has a list^^ thank you for sharing

Glad to find a fellow Aussie reading journalist! I am an avid reader and I have used Storygraph and Goodreads to track my reading in the past but looking for some more mindful way of recording my “life in books”. You’ve given me some good ideas so, thanks! Cheers, Barbara
Oooh I’m glad you got some ideas!!! Goodreads and Storygraph are great for logging books, but there’s really nothing like checking things off with pen on paper 😅 I love using a journal
The cassette tape theme is such a fun idea for January - looks like you’ve had a lot of fun getting set up! I haven’t started on my 2024 journal yet but I’ll be getting on it soon :)
34 books is a great amount!! Well done 🩷 I know some people use their journal over 2 or more years if they don’t fill it up. But most of my spreads are for tracking, so I would probably use a lot of pages for myself no matter how many books I read 😅 I just like journaling 🥰
Oh sorry I totally forgot to mention that when I filmed 🤦🏽♀️ It’s a pack of brush tip markers I got a couple years ago, but the brand is Ohuhu (I got it from Amazon). I also used a few Crayola supertip markers as well. Yay, I love a colourful journal 🥰
100% you should count them!! Anyone who tells you that they don’t count as reading is ableist (think about how great they are for those with vision problems that can’t read a physical book with their eyes) Studies have found that both listening to an audiobook, and reading a book with your eyes both stimulates the same part of your brain anyway 🥰 as long as your brain is understanding the story, then you should count it as read, no matter what format you read it in! Also thank you 🩷🩷
