I really like this speaker. I diverge in one important area, and she seemed to infer it, however: I'm personally saddened when step parents think the kids needs to leave. I am pretty firm when sponsoring, that the kid comes first. They don't get to triangulate, the don't get to run the asylum, but they get to be the priorty in how we work spiritually. We are the adults. We have meetings, sponsors and a spiritual program. The kids have zero of these supports. Steps have come into the romantic relationship. Kids need so much time, faith, goodwill and kindness, and to not be thrown away. We double down in service in this area. Love with limits. I'm grateful for the experience of good step parents.
Alanon, just like AA, isn't for those who need it. It's not even for those who want it. It's for those willing to at least TRY it, because they're in tremendous pain, and have no where left to go.
