    One month later: I sold my E63 and bought an M3 touring. Reasoning: E was too comfy and big and I missed thay about my m340i and didn’t want a step down in performance. Another month later comes the new c43 then he realizes he missed the performance and then buys the new c63.

    8:00 - first time I drove a car with crash avoidance was terrifying. It slammed on the brakes on multiple occasions when approaching a card swipe device to enter a parking garage. Keep in mind this was a manual transmission vehicle, so not only did it fully arrest the brakes, it stalled the car. Until I looked in the manual and read about the avoidance "feature", I thought the drivetrain was broken.

    Hi Sam, expat Englishman in the US here, hope you still have your E63S wagon! I've had mine for 3 years now but every now and then I like to watch your video 'cos it makes me smile....just like driving my 2021 E63S wagon. It really is a bonkers machine and I don't ever see me selling mine (wagons should be listed as a Class A drug). And now I know where the button is to raise the car height! Mine gets driven every couple of weeks to go get the groceries (90 mile round trip) or load it up with 80 bags of mulch (takes 4 trips to the DIY store to do it) every spring or, well, just to go out and shut a few folks down! We're lucky enough to also have a 2023 Mercedes EQS 580 in our garage, that thing is no slouch even in Drive mode but without the suck, bang, blow of the M177 engine (particularly on the overrun in Race mode in the many tunnels where we live) it's just not the same. Stay safe and between the kerbs.

    Def should have bought the pre-face 2018 car without the petrol particulate filter. Yes new version has the better MBUX but its all about the sound from the V8 in the older model.

    Nice one, congrats. It's interesting to hear you say the seats are comfy and the ride quality is great. I sold mine in December because I was unhappy with the ride quality and found the seats to be uncomfortable and it lacked the technology features I was used to (from my previous car, a W221 S500). I replaced the E estate with another, newer, S500 and absolutely loving it. Whatever you do, don't get an S-Class - you'll never be able to go back to anything below it. By getting the W222 S-Class I get proper buttons, no touch-screens or touch-buttons on the steering wheel and most importantly - a V8 with 455PS. I also found the 20" wheels not to my taste, I downgraded them to 18" for even more ride quality. I'd never consider the latest W223 S-Class, that can go do one.

    • @sammooresphoto
      @sammooresphoto  2 роки тому +3

      Oh you are absolutely correct. The ride quality is significantly inferior to what it should be. It's just "passable" in the facelift. I want the massive boot though so all the other options are out. I am waiting for the day when they make an S Class wagon...Out of interest what tech features were you missing?

    Congratulations. I had a box fresh All Terrain for a long weekend with the 400d a while back. I don't like diesel but it is an epic engine. I so wanted to love the car but ultimately it was disappointing. No cooled seats. Horrible noise from 4x4 on full lock when parking. I love the interior design but it does feel a bit flimsy around the vents etc. The deal breaker for me though is the poor rear seat room. Downside of the giant boot I guess. I'm only 6ft but I could not sit comfortably behind myself and my feet would not go under the drivers seat unless my (drivers) head was on the roof. A bit of a surprise because the saloon version must be full of executive adults. Maybe the rear seats are a bit further back in those.

    • @sammooresphoto
      @sammooresphoto  2 роки тому

      Interestingly the car I test drove made awful noises on lock but my car doesn’t make any. I believe it has something to do with the tyres. 400d was on my list to look at as well. Punchy diesels are quite appealing in a car like this. I suspect the 350d would actually suit me much better but finding a car with adaptive cruise was seriously tricky and then v8 so 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @MiniEggs1999
      @MiniEggs1999 2 роки тому

      @@sammooresphoto Very glad yours does not have the full lock noise. Love the justification....it has adaptive cruise control. Wish I could afford to run the v8. I still can't get over how bonkers fast they are. They can do low 11s 1/4 mile. I know there are many variables but on Carwow DC in a not too old F1 car was only doing about 9.5s and you can't put a chest of draws in one of those and it doesn't have adaptive cruise

    Hi Sam, I’m a big fan of your content - many thanks for it! I had a choice between the e63 and an rs6 - I found that the air suspension rs6 was soft but the steel spring drc variant was a lot better and went for that in the end. I was wondering if you tried the drc rs6? Regardless of that glad you are enjoying it - all these turbo v8s are beasts and still tick the long range touring box where the taycan St I almost just bought still does not. Nb to the 340i crew here - I had one of those and agreed it’s an awesome car - tbh 85pc the thrill of either e63 or rs6 IMO for 50pc purchase and running costs - I put the birds b3 kit on mine and it was mega!

    • @sammooresphoto
      @sammooresphoto  2 роки тому

      Oh nice. High five to the m340i crew. The main factor for rs6 vs e class for me was actually boot size. It’s quite a lot bigger in the e class. I’ve only driven the air suspension 6, would be interesting to try the drc

      The RS6 is much more comfortable but there’s a serious mistake you can make…I had the new RS6 with the steel springs. And the mistake? I sold it! Bought the Etron SUV instead. For a £30k premium, i really didnt find the difference enough to bother going for the newer version - ride quality was also pretty similar. Try a c63 estate for a crap ride quality!
