All of these leathers have been carefully selected for optimum durability and appearance. We answer the question of the best work boot leather, heritage boot leather, or best boot leather in general. Different leathers have various amounts of wax and oil which change the appearance of the leather as it's flexed and wrinkled. We also use a knife to scratch the surface and reveal daily wear and tear. Lastly, we show what the leather will look like with the conditioner on it. Many kinds of leather darken but will bounce back to a similar color after the conditioner soaks in. When you invest in Nicks, you’ve invested in the best. I got fit a little while back, noticed by the register there was a display showing that you used to be able to choose stitch color. It would be awesome if you guys brought that back.
The tan work roughout leather actually really caught my eye in this one.
This helps a lot in deciding which leather to choose. The visuals, reflections in different lighting etc.
And again, another video with great informational value without trying to push a sell. I have ordered boots with the 1964 leather. Second option would be the walnut leather. I like the color transition from pale to dark when applying wax/oil. Cheers

Still haven’t seen a nicer colour than the brown horsehide CXL Roberts I have here,but the 1964 work leather would make a great pair of boots for kicking around in!!

Great video! Great to see how each leather handles scratches and buffed up! Own 2 pairs of Nicks and can’t say enough about how comfortable they are after break in. When will the olive be available, and will it be available in the heavier work leathers?

This is something I have never understood. How can that tan leather be described as being packed full of oils and waxes? After you added grease (oils and waxes), it darkens so much. If it darkens by adding a small amount wax, how can the leather already have so much in it?

My favorite is veg tan leathers they absorb oils nicely. Waxed leathers start cracking pretty fast in my experience

Love the video. Could you explain a bit of the difference between the 1964 leather, and CXL? They seem pretty similar, and I want to make sure I understand the nuances outside of different colours.

@@keggerous I received the urban logger in waxed brown. I did a standard size because I did not know the custom size could be done remotely (my bad). Jury is still out on the Logger heel for me.
If I was to do it again, I would get a slightly lighter brown, honey soles (I walk on a lot of concrete), and consider a lower heel.

The oil and grease makes most of the leathers darker. Would using saddle soap lighten up the leather again, since it pulls out the oils and stuff? Thank you.

Can you do a video on the chocolate work leather? Rough out and smooth. I ordered my custom boots in walnut but was just told that I’m going to be waiting even longer than the 20 weeks I’ve already waited due to supplier issues. I’ve thought about switching to the chocolate leather..
I have a pair of full rough out black builder pros. I want a pair of traveler's, this just made it harder. I wonder what a NO8 chrome xl traveler's would look like with a black traction tread.

I prefer the work leather rough out because it seems tough. You said it’s highly abrasion resistant. What about stain resistant?

Why do I never hear tallow being recommended for a conditioner/oil? It seems like it would be a natural choice (since it comes from the same animal...).

Hey, whats the 'work', leather thickness like mm not oz, because the density varies so the 7 to 8 oz can be 1.8-2mm thickness or 2.8 ro 3 mm thickness. Thx in advance

I'm confused. On some you said smooth and some rough but then rough and smooth which is it. To my knowledge the rough out is the more fiber like side. And the smooth is more the casual side. You began showing roughout (fiber like ) then smooth and then said called smooth (fiber like) then roughout(smooth) through the middle of the video then switched back to roughout (fiber like) and then smooth ?

I think I know what "pull up" means, but trying to verify it via google just takes me to pull on boots. It seems as if when the boot is stretched, the oils and waxes disperse to other areas of the leather that aren't being stretched. Is that right, and is there anything I'm missing?

why this predator orange leather is different than the other boots video review the predator orange are more Mustard yellow color?
