- Mayo River (NC) Smallmouthz" Lost 3, had one in my hands on on my chest before I slipped off the rock, and hooked something over 2-3 pounds, possibly a larger smallmouth, largemouth, or rainbow trout- or catfish too possible on jerkbait). Low water and high 80's... Afternoon trip for a couple hours.

Thanks a lot Dan, yea right on the cooling off, lol. I had that smallmouth in my hands and my clumsy self slipped off the rock, ha ha. I almost got another nice sixzed fish at the end. I like these jerkbaits but the hooks are kind of big I think , the cheap ozark from Walmart, but works.

Thanks so much Tony. I told you the other week I was going to try and get some smallies. I will go to the other smallmouth river soon, the Dan (actually the Mayo flows into the Dan 10 miles downstream), but need higher waters first.
@@excursionamericaexa You should yourself some cleat/felt bottom strap ons to walk it safely. I wear felt bottom diving shoes to navigate my creeks/rivers in the warmer months. Keep pressing, brother!

What a beautiful looking place to fish.. that was a great underwater release in that clear water!.. those wet rocks can be deadly haha..always so fun to target smallies!👍👊
Thanks a lot Triple H! I forgot to throw a shout out to NY, lol. I thought you were from NJ. My Mom's uncle used to broadcast for the Yankees on the radio for years back in the 50s and 60s. My Mom's aunt is still living and doing well today but lives in Ohio. I want to catch some of those nice bowfin you catch.. I hope to get some soon, need to head down to eastern NC on some rivers. Thanks bro!
