- You Can’t Film Inside Lincoln Prison It’s Against The Rules
Today I paid a visit to HM Prison Lincoln and they didn’t like the fact that I was videoing, I mean, all you can mostly see is massive high walls, but they still didn’t like it and the told me so.
So please enjoy the video
Here is a true story about my experience in Lincoln prison.
In 1973 I was sent by my employer to measure and quote some insulation work on a boiler in the prison. After going through the initial security checks a prison officer accompanied me to the boiler house. Prison policy dictated that a prison officer had to be with me at all times while I was inside the prison grounds.
Before I had finished the work I had to do there was a shift change at the prison and the officer who was with me said he was knocking off. He told me to stay in the boiler house and another officer would come to replace him. Although I didn't know it at the time, this was a serious breach of policy.
The replacement officer did not arrive. After about half an hour I decided to leave and made my way to the main gate.
As with most prisons there are two gates to get through to get out. I was let through the first gate without any problem but, as there had been a shift change no one at the gate house recognised me and I was detained and locked in an office while they checked me out.
After about an hour I was finally released. I wasn't particularly concerned while I was being detained as I got a couple of hours overtime out of it.
I still wonder to this day whether I was deliberately set up and if the prison officers were having a good laugh at my, (and my company's) expense.
Hi David, thank you for such a good story, our lives are so much decorated by these things, I always assume that the 'reasons' behind these happenings are due to incompetence and indifference not malice but given the intense boredom prison officers must have to endure a bit of a prank like this cannot be ruled out.
Cheers, Richard.
@@richardharvey1732 Yours is a great reply; that I enjoyed reading. Good man! Thank you
I was in hmp lincoln In 2013 for 5 months I can't believe that prisons still open its an absolute mess it feels like you've been locked up in ww2 era war church / prison 🤣🤣 and as for what he said bout that young screw hes right thier all wierdos hard to talk to make u feel uncomfortable and cringy
@@theyliebutwhy8101 Hi they, not for the first time U-tube has put your reply to somebody else into my inbox!, so forgive my intrusion. All I want to say is thank you for telling us about your own real experiences in the clink!, it is only what people like you can tell us about what it is really like in there that we can rely on!.
I am not at all surprised!, as the years roll by and more and more silly laws are enacted that result in more and more 'criminals' being sent down and at the same time the money available to run the prisons reduced and reduced things were always going to get worse.
The cruel reactionary people that impose these problems on us insist that prisons must be deeply unpleasant inn order to act as a deterrent to criminals!, surely if that were even slightly true the number of crims would be going down by now!, but it seems we live in times where logic, common sense and reason cannot be taken seriously, all that matters is the 'right' ideology!.
Cheers, Richard.
For a young man in a professional job, he dealt with the situation in a polite and professional manner. His bosses need to get a link of this video. Promotion should be forth coming. Makes a change from asking for someone to be sacked. 👍 Good one PJ. 👍
The only thing he didn't do well was tie his shoelaces. Triggering my OCD :(
Only the Brits can do architecture like that. Even a prison building is a work of art.
Victorian/Edwardian architecture, when buildings were considered more than just functional, and were a way of expressing pride/individuality/achievement in their work. Most public buildings in all towns and cities from libraries to schools had a certain architectural look about them. Something that's sadly lacking now, where cost and a, 'slap it up as quick as possible', attitude is the standard, resulting in bland rectangular boxes with no character or architectural interest to them at all.
Yeah. It's ironic that the quality - from 100 years plus, is actually way better than what is often constructed now.
I must admit it does look good from the outside but if you inside its an absolute trash hole I was in thier in 2013 I cannot believe its still open
The round part at the top of the wall encloses barbed wire/razor wire. It is shielded on the facing side for safety and aesthetic reasons.
Beautiful building. Great video PJ. Nice to see you having a change from construction sites, etc., and you were good at this too. Well done and thanks.
Not so neautiful on the inside lol
Better reception than the one Marti and friends got when they visited. Still not perfect, but way better.
Nice video Mr. Peter. I have read the book Not a penny more, not a penny less by Jeffrey Archer, good book, famous author, surprised that them guys didn’t know that... As you said it looks more like a castle 🏰 . Hope that you didn’t get in trouble. Take care Sir 👍👌
A bit of history about this place.. Éamon de Valera who became taoiseach of the Irish Republic escaped from Lincoln Prison in 1919.
He managed to get access to a sleeping soldier or prison guard, as he was constantly under supervision, managed to steal a key to a cellar that had access to outside, he sent messages written in Irish language to his accomplices who were in a hotel nearby, arranged time and pick up, and walked out on a foggy night, escaped by motor car to a safe house for couple of weeks, and was smuggled onto a ship back home.
I’m not sure if they are joking when they say they don’t know who Jeffery Archer is, perhaps on some rules about discussing individuals. If neither of those officers really know who Jeffery Archer is then I’m shocked. More importantly the young officer acted very professionally and with courtesy.
Yeah they must have some of his books in the prison library.
Was this bring your kids to work day
😂😂😂
Must be 14 I guess cut backs are unbelievable 🤣🤣
The kid PJ was at work today.
Looks like he’s wearing his dads jumper
not allowed rules and stuff just left school!
He was very professional and polite
Pretty building
9:25 A private road doesn't mean anything about the public being barred from it. The public can use a private road. All a private road means is that it is maintained by the owner, not the council. To properly stop people walking down the lane, the signs need to say "Only prison employees allowed".
It's says no unauthorised
@@adrenalinejunkie3828 Yes, the public don't have a right to use a road - if it has signs and barriers indicating it is not for their use.
But being a private road in itself doesn't stop the public from being able use it. For instance, Brook Road, Maghull, Liverpool is a private road, but the public use it as a shortcut.
It's all about the context. A dead end private road with just residences on it is not really going to be used by anyone else. A private road that is not a dead end will be used by people. A private road to multiple businesses will be used by anyone using any business and no single business can query the purpose of anyone on the private road.
It’s life seen as black and white for those screws, full of directives without much leeway, seen the site on Google Earth, so what’s the big deal of a Private Road, can’t tell you what’s down there 🥵.
Unsurprisingly, they're a bit funny when it comes to prisons. Particular those consider higher up the security scale, such as Cat A and Cat B. You were risking it a bit by recording into the prison staff entrance and was surprised someone didn't come to have a chat with you, there and then. There's nothing much to see round the back, anyway. It's just a private road that leads to a very tall gated entrance with the same outer wall running behind it. The entrance of which is obscured. It's the, 'trade entrance', for want of a better way of describing it. The chap who came out was decent enough with you. Those round things on the top of the walls actually rotate if you try to climb over them, making it virtually impossible to get over from either direction. They're not so much, 'weird', as being ultra-weary that anything they might say to you could reflect badly on them and risk either disciplinary action or even the boot. So, they play it safe by being deliberately vague and obtuse about anything you might ask them. I never understand why they get so tetchy when, other than from an architectural point of view, there's very little to see. It's the same, old thing. They just don't like the idea of being scrutinised.
If they don't want people capturing images of their lobby from a publicly accessible space then they should keep their door shut.
@@dmichaelbetts The big sign at the front gives the clues not to be an idiot. Filming into a prison through a door is pretty poor judgment considering another auditor is in court tomorrow for exactly the same thing.
Unbelievably Lincoln prison appears not to be in a flight restriction zone. It is in a DJI 'restricted zone' though, so I expect there's no way of ignoring that. However, that zone follows the prison wall precisely. I suggest you get down there again, but this time with your mate DJ, and show them where they can shove their opinions! However, he is right about shooting through the door.
You might also like to draw their attention to the amazing detail of the whole prison on Google Earth.
Actually isn't a private road as it leads to public streets
V professional young man working there well done to him
If you look on google Earth some people are walking on that road.
Great video pj keep them coming stay safe 👍👍👍
Once you turned to show the hospital immediately thought tunnel system right under that road!
Very nice building. I bet you did some steps on this video. Walking round these perimeters takes ages. Great video once again mate 👍
Thanks DJ, yeah you correct, it is a big place, but you can't get all the way round it, houses and other buildings stop you :(
Private road , the Police have made a great VLog about private roads and if there are no barriers and is open to the public, then you have a right of access ,
If they don't want u to film in the doorway tell them to close the door
Hello everyone….can anyone answer a question for me please? So I went into Chelmsford prison car park and I was told I cannot be there or record as the car park was Crown Property. So I found and entered the visitor entrance and again I was told I could not record or be on the Crown Property? Is that true?
Weird couple of fellas
If you go straight up from the public footpath you can use the drone and the zoom. A long as you don't go over the wall you are perfectly in order. Unless that part of the town is restricted. Prefer your industriel estate videos thoufg. @PJ Audits
most Lincoln it looks restricted to 9500ft from ground according to the air space map. id never buy a drone if i lived there as you would always have to travel to use it
Remember, the judge in Archer trial called his lying wife" a fragrant flower".
Private road applies to cars not pedestrians nor can you trespass the eyes and technically you never stepped inside the prison not even into the public lobby
Lad must've been on work experience. I don't think he did well in history.
Ah, young 'Flock of Seagulls'; scared to death of you, suddenly got bolder when he saw his tubby buddy approaching. Bullied at school, both of them on a power trip. Sad. Bet the hotel residents have a chuckle at this performance.
He's a good kid.
9:15 A private carpark doesn't mean anything about the public being barred from it. A private carpark can be used by the public, just that only selected members of the public can park their cars on it. Selected as being employees for instance. A private carpark at the end of a lane is no different to a private carpark in the middle of a town centre. The level of trespass is minimal and therefore they can ask, but they can't do anything if someone declines to leave immediately or does go further into the carpark. They can only act if the have evidence that the intrusion onto the carpark is for nefarious purposes. So a person with a camera filming for UA-cam or a someone with a clipboard is a bit different to someone with scruffy clothes and a rucksack who is more likely to be looking to break into a car.
I live in Lincoln but am not from here originally.. I can confirm Lincoln people are odd lol!
The prison has the nicest building there???
They once held Charles Branson here I used to live in horncastle been passed loads of time coming into Lincoln
The young lad was fairly civil until he went over the top near the front. The older, southerner was just an unfriendly tosser
Ooh the looks you get when inside Alcatraz, you say, "This ones built just like Windsor Jail!" Or you say "I've been in prisons at - Chatham, Stratford, London, and a few psych. hospitals also!" Lucky they let you out everyday after work.
You gotta go to Running Imp next time you're near Lincoln. It will be golden content
'Rules and stuff'
Should of made the video slightly longer we could of seen him go through puberty
why didnt you call atc scampton to fly in Lincoln? Its outside the airport range and the drone would be too low to interfere with red arrows
Not weird ( just thick) at least the old guy must be .
That is a nice building. Was it always a prison??
I'll avoiding Licon on my travels,,,,,stay safe
You gain an insight into the IQ of the staff you encountered. A three piece jigsaw would be somewhat of a major challenge to those two.
The milky bar kid puffing out his chest...
I don't want you to film around the prison.. I'd have done laps until I got tired 🤣
Lol, that young screws hairdo is hilarious 😂
Send the work experience kid. That's my motto.
That younger one sure liked to repeat himself; and this includes repeating orders which you had already assented to following.
The whole world knows who jeffrey archer is thanks pj cheers bob.
It’s a wonder you have not filmed ramby prison that’s down your neck of the woods. Nice prison nice inside too lol.
I would 😍
I went past that,,' I though that was a holiday camp as told to me by old Jeffrey wots'he's name
won't be many buying a drone in Lincoln, the whole area is red up to 9500ft, you actually need a car or get on a train to use drone what utter madness if you live in area
8:40 No it's not alright for him to move PJ on. He has no authority outside the prison.
9:35 It's pretty obvious what'"s down there" - a carpark. Not really that secret. And you can see with Google Earth what's there.
How was Jeffrey Archer Knighted after what he did?
He was awarded a peerage, before the perjury conviction. It's rare for someone to be stripped of their gongs.
@@geoffpoole483 He's a vile little hypocrite, fornicator and liar who still smugly appears on tv shows as though he's a decent person, standing outside court prattling on about being exonerated when knowing all the time he was guilty and receiving a huge payout, I would never buy any of his books.
They have no idea about the law
Hi PJ, watching these two wallies telling you that you cannot film around the prison right in front of a sign on the wall showing that CCTV is in operation!, no sign of any embarrassment or awareness of the obvious double standards.
It is alright to see in through those doors as long as you don't look at anything!. Does that mean you can run your camera but not look at the film?.
Cheers, Richard.
My argument about filming is that anywhere CCTV is in operation, so too can the public film. It can't be the case that it's one rule for them, another rule for us. Also, the act of filming is totally separate from the act of publication. If they argue that CCTV doesn't get published which is why the public are banned from filming since they can't control the public's publication can control the act of filming, then the answer is that CCTV footage does get published as it's regularly seen on the news. So it's a weak argument.
Well said ‘Dick’ is that an insult or a term of endearment.
@@TheSadButMadLad Hi Sad but mad, thank you for your comments, yours is indeed a good way of looking at it all.
For some time now, during a period when 'free speech' has been an issue much discussed on these channels that there should be better distinctions made between what people just say to each other and what is published by commercial publishers to be sold on the open market, if you are expected to buy the publication it is not free and the freedom rules do not apply, I have suggested that all such published material carries the burden of the publisher's duty to ensure the veracity of the material, failure to do so to the satisfaction of the regulatory authority would provoke the confiscation of all the income from the offending publication, I do not see why a similar regulatory regime be imposed on the commercial publication of photographs and videos, as indeed is already the case with GDPR legislation.
Cheers, Richard.
@@richallen5046 Hi Rich, many many decades ago I was a bit sensitive to what people called me and made a point of demanding to be called Rick or Richard, there came a time when I did not care so much, culminating with an experience with a work colleague who told me that he does not care at all what anybody calls him as long as it is never 'late for dinner', from then on I am much more concerned by the tone of the address not the form so Dick comes across however it is intended.
Cheers, Richard.
Of course you can film it anywhere imfact are you a qualified. Ask for a permission...
Dear Mr:Stamp, how are you?
Are you a qualified person
Are you a hard working person....
Wow pj I never expected that you would say that Lincoln folk are all weirdos .
Well done Peter because you didn't do power to the proletariat mistake.
The young lad was ok I guess, the other guy was just plain rude how come these types of people in responsible jobs have no communication skills when it comes to speaking to members of the public their attitude antagonises more than anything else, thanks PJ 👍
Hi POS22, I agree that he was OK but sadly that is not good enough!, as a representative of the management of any concern he has a duty to behave in a much more polite and respectful manner, this prescribes gentle non-invasive approach, standing nearby quietly and wait until the person acknowledges their presence, then introduce themselves and give their reason for the contact, then ask if it is alright to ask some questions, if the answer is no they must just walk away, if the answer is yes then they can ask their questions with a reasonable expectation of decent answers, this somewhat formal protocol always works much better and more effectively than the hostile demanding ways they think they can get away with, these auditors are doing a very good job of showing them up for how bad they bare it is up to them and their managers to learn how to do it properly.
Cheers, Richard.
@@richardharvey1732 Exactly! The young prison employee was going beyond his capacity for the role. He almost became a policeman for a few moments.
@PJ your only 30 mins from me here ! If you want to pop over to mine I can get you to use some machinery you can film and have a go on the wood lathe mate

Thought Jeffery archer served his Time in Boston open nick. I maybe wrong .
North Sea Camp. He finished his sentence at Hollesley Bay. Perjurers seldom serve their time in Cat B prisons.
Only half as good as his other vids just a wall no roof. Baiting people to make money a sad reflection of what these so called auditors will do for money.

it's the same with millionaire football wives who don't know what David Jones locker is , f/m
And we

YO PJ 🇬🇧
You can film anything you can see and if they want privacy then create it and you cannot ask him to delete it as this requires a judge to authorise this and this is law And your policies do not trump law and you have no authority to move anyone on and if its a public footpath its public property and he is well within his rights to film there. Tell those giving these orders they need to learn the law and stop giving unlawful orders. Actually its public property because the public pay for it and these clowns need to liear the law. Delete nothing Pete and tell them to bugger off.
Yes man tell them its rastas rights pj .I can walk around the prison smoking a joint and taking photos. 😁
I see you have done ranby prison already lol
Not sure what was achieved, or what was is to be learned by going on private property -clearly signed - and being removed? what's the point ? they never stopped him from the footpath.
They tried
@@PJAudits But what's the point of going on to private property in the first place as you end up being told to leave and end up back where you started. . Photography can be prohibited on private property, but they can't stop you from public property.
People need to look at common law over rides all this shit and look up your staw man
Beautiful prison. Silly guards nice video
you carnt not go to Lincoln and pay walkers crisps a visit pj 😀😀😀
Why are you now sinking as low as the the other auditors by deliberately going to antagonising working people by carrying out pointless audits on sensitive places like this. You claim you have a genuine interest in heavy plant and trucks so why are acting the fool outside prisons? You're better than this PJ.
🤷
Weird people in Lincoln lol your from Worksop lol 😂 😂
Where's his mum and dad
Cor their training these newbies with lies, delete footage, move on.
Signage reports vehicular traffic not pedestrian traffic.
Section 33 of the criminal justice act of 1972 gives you implied right to be there.
👏👏👏
7:40 He says he's seen PJ go inside. What a liar. Also, you can film into a prison since any person standing outside a prison could see into through windows. What can't be done is film into the secure areas of a prison. Inside a prison means where prisoners are, so if no prisoners are allowed somewhere then you can film it, so long as you are not inside the building itself.
Bless his little cotton socks
Well… you see that prisons are a different experience than industrial units PJ! 😆. You were fat too polite and forgiving to the first kid that came out. You’ll need to develop your mean side if you’re doing prisons now mate! 🤣👍
Benny 1001 His "mean side" would have resulted in the same outcome -being removed so it would not make any difference really.
@@remorogers1599 same outcome I’m sure, but that young lad perhaps missed an opportunity to be corrected and educated as to the bounds of the law. My point was; PJs non-confrontational style usually works well in industrial settings, but perhaps not so at prisons.
@@Benny10001 I agree, but my point really was that I do not understand why he bothers to go on private property in the first place. He is doing it a lot in recent videos and inevitably has to leave- so what's the point?
@@remorogers1599 It has become quite prevalent. As I understand it, the purpose is to test the ‘private property but public access’ exception. Of course when asked to leave they are compelled to, but at their own pace and manner. Auditors will always find where the line is drawn and stand right on it; somewhat the purpose of auditing in the first place. 🤷♂️
Get in there Pete get yourself a job lol
Why do you comply so quickly?
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Should we question the sanity of those conducting prison audits when others are awaiting trial for similar actions. Maybe the thrill of attempting to fly a drone over prison property clouds one's judgement.
I do not understand why you are filming a prison? on 90% plus of all your videos when approached by security etc and forgive my version of your quote " I film idustrial sites and various equipment etc etc" Slightly bewildered.
I thought this was going to be an educational vid what with the original facts and figures etc - a welcome change- but it soon fell into the " let's find someone to bait" category...I thought the young Prison Officer was very professional - yes, you deliberately went in a signed Staff Entrance and filmed inside plus incited a confrontation by using the multi-warning signed private road ......when at someone's workplace please accept their duties and responsibilities (even though you consider to have none of your own) and by not laughing ha-ha-ha to their replies ...........just my two bob's worth.
For some strange reason prison staff are suspicious of people hanging around outside the premises and filming. Hanging around outside a prison knowing full well that one isn't going to be admittted inside is hardly auditing.
Another pointless clip 😴😴
Another pointless comment 🤣🤣
