    Why isn't everyone breaking out because of eating dairy and meat? I often think I am super sensitive to everythink and that makes me mad about myself. Why do I have to put more effort in it than other people. I have enough stress in my working live without trying to fight the way I was raised for 24 years. It is freaking hard!

I don't eat dairy and very little meat (cut out dairy due to acne) but because of my bone health that was negatively affected by my eating disorder I need to make sure I'm getting enough protein. What dairy supplement do you recommend for protein? Currently I use almond milk products

    As ALWAYS, this video contains my personal experience in a ‘diary like form’; please note that everyones skin is different, and everyones body has different nutritional needs!! I am in no way trying to influence anyone to do certain things or make changes; regardless of if you do or don’t use this information, it makes no difference in my life. I wouldn’t even know! It is simple here to share my experience, and hopefully create a safe space for everyone to discuss their unique experiences, and struggles, with diet and acne. I ALWAYS encourage you to do your own research, question EVERYTHING, don’t take what I, (or anyone else) say as truth!! Always look into things for yourself, and make the right decisions for your beautiful self!!

    Girl! Talk about an awakening!
    When you first started your channel, I watched every video and appreciated your honesty. And like others, I noticed your videos and personality seemed to become fake and your videos bland. I stopped watching your channel for quite some time.
    Then your video about how you cleared your skin popped into my recommendations. I was amazed at how clear your skin is and had to watch. And lemme tell you! Everything you say seems genuine, real, and thoughtful. You definitely have had an awakening and realization about the reality of foods. Heck yeah! Thank you for bringing back your honesty and speaking truth.
    I'm a pescatarian, but don't consume dairy or eggs. Obviously, not raw. It's a new phase for me but I can already see changes. It's so refreshing to see others who have awoken and come to the realization of how our food affects us.

      Aisha L So here's the back story. I've actually been dairy free for 5 years. I heard that dairy caused acne and figured why not try it, I had nothing to lose. My skin started to clear within a month or two. Not completely but a lot better than it's ever been. This was after I had done extensive laser treatments. They are supposedly the external form of Accutane. That cleared my skin for about 6 months but then my skin went right back to square one. I'm really glad I never did Accutane because I was really close to signing all those scary release papers about the side effects. At this time I was also on a cocktail of prescription drugs for health and acne. I later tried to reintroduce dairy to see if it really was the culprit, or if the medication was working and immediately had lactose intolerant symptoms and painful digestive issues. So yes dairy was causing my acne and my body hated it. Getting rid of harmful chemicals in my life, skin care, beauty products, laundry detergent, and cleaning products really fully cleared up my skin. I fully understand now that toxins and extra hormones were the cause of all my skin issues and my body was just trying to clear itself out. I later went full vegan for environmental and ethical reasons. Another side effect of being whole food plant based raw ish vegan is my hypothyroidism, depression, high blood pressure, and constant fatigue were finally gone! I don't take any pills now and am so happy! It's definitely worth it. Lilykoihawaii is an awesome UA-camr for health related Veganism. Sorry for the long winded answer haha.

    • @AC-iw5mv
      @AC-iw5mv 7 років тому +3

      One suggestion, maybe try to drink A BIG glass or two of water first thing in the morning which means that by the time you go to work you would have already gone to the toilet and then repeat the same after work and pee before you sleep and during work you can then just sip instead of trying to get soo much water in :)

    • @mariablackmer709
      @mariablackmer709 7 років тому +6

      the more your body get use to the larger water intake the less you will go as well, when you're not use to some much you will go more frequently. Once your body realizes you are constantly taking in that amount it will regulate absorbing that amount of water better :)

    I've been saying this for years! Diet is huge! I didn't go vegan; I did Whole30 a few years ago and in a single month my skin cleared up because I stopped eating processed food, mainly things like bread, sugar and dairy. I still ate meat, it doesn't disagree with me the way it may affect others, but I don't discourage veganism...maybe make a video explaining how to eat a well balanced vegan diet and what you eat in a day? I appreciate you so much, keep shining your light Cassandra :)

      Hi,
      How did it go?

    • @whitneyl1527
      @whitneyl1527 2 роки тому +1

      @@khushmitadhabhai2944 Honestly I caved on the raw vegan diet, yet I'm still a pescatarian and I've made tons of progress! After cutting out most dairy, I haven't gotten any more yeast infections! Like...NONE!
      I've learned more about my personal acne journey, and cutting out dairy has helped dramatically. What also helps my face is having a routine. I wash twice a day with a 5% benzoyl peroxide wash, I exfoliate 1-2 times a week, at night I use a retinol cream instead of daily moisturizer, and in the morning (after I wash) I rub a frozen cucumber on my face and feel totally refreshed. A little $3 face mask twice a week helps too!
      The cold sore journey is still underway, and I definitely need to do more research. Stress, a low immune system, and excess amounts of sugar are my triggers, but taking lysine powder as soon as I feel a "tingle" keeps it from popping up. The only downside of lysine, is that too much can throw off the menstrual cycle. It works, but praying to God for a permanent cure.

    This might be a long comment but I really hope you get to read it! I am 19 and have had acne since I was about 11/12 years old. It has been horrible, okay, good, bad, painful, not so bad, etc. And I really relate to a lot of the things you've gone through. I had an emotionally abusive relationship my freshmen year in high school, my self worth was pulled through the mud along with my dignity and any friendships I had because they were all so scared of him. He made a mess of me in a million different ways and by the end of it all I had depression, would only drink water some days without having any food, would sleep, go to school, come home and sleep again. It was my breaking point and my acne was always there with me of course. I ended up moving away because of this and got better within a couple of months but the acne never went away and I am know in university studying nutrition in my second year but still... acne. Since I was around 16 years old I started trying more natural and less harmful approaches since my dad always said to not use so many chemicals on my skin. He always told me to eat healthier, exercise, etc. which is what got my into nutrition and healthy living. I LOVEE watching your videos (I started yesterday lol) because I really understand the science that you talk about because of the classes I am taking currently. It's like reviewing what I am learning while learning some more and I LOVEE IT!! Thank you for sharing you knowledge and experience and I am definitely following all your posts from now on! I am currently binge watching your current videos and can'y get enough!!

    Thank you, Cassandra, for sharing your precious knowledge with all of us. I watched some of your make-up video hits several years back when I was so ashamed of having severe acne going on my entire face. My self-esteem was low and was seeking an approach to cover them all up. About 2 years ago, there was a downtime of mine when I felt stressed out at work and needed a cup of latte to go right before I work every single day. This way, I could feel more energized and the caffeine did make me happier working. However, my acne-prone skin just got even worse at that moment and cystic pimples grew all over. That's when I found dairy was possibly the villain (despite the fact that, like you said, dermatologists apparently did not assert) and decided to reduce dairy consumption. Gradually, due to the ethic perspective, I also decided to turn myself into a primarily plant-based diet in which I, currently, only eat seafood for nutritional reason occasionally. I've even been cleansing my face, body and even hair with only water, and applying nothing to my face after wash now for over 2 months. All these efforts literally save my life emotionally as well as economically, since I no longer need to spend on testing cosmetics that would potentially cure my bad skin. Even if I still get one or two zips here and there on my face from day to day, my skin is absolutely in a better condition compared with just a year ago. You're amazing, kind and gorgeous the way you not only help animals but people with acne issues. Having a nice skin is truly a blessing to you, don't you agree?

    Cassandra I am SO happy for you! I've watched you on and off since you're first videos and to see where you are today is a blessing! I'm a licensed esthetician and I got into the field from my own struggle with acne (since 13) and my youngest son developing eczema. When he had red irritated rashes all over his body I felt it was his formula and it started me on a long journey of researching diet and diseases. It's funny because I've done SO much research on proper health and skin and yet I still struggled with letting go of a western diet. Well I had to make up in my mind a few days back do I REALLY desire clear skin (because even though my skin is a lot better, even at 35, I STILL deal with mild to moderate acne). Seeing your video and knowing what you've been through was definitely the encouragement for me to change my unhealthy habits! Thank you! How long did it take you to get to where you are now from where you started to really change things?

    Hey Cassandra, I love this series so much! I saw Dr. Bronner's Castille Soap the other day while at Target and contemplated purchasing it, as I also deal with adult cystic acne as well. Some of the ingredients in the soap scared me, such as coconut oil and other forms of oil that appear to be comedogenic. I only trust extra virgin olive oil or jojoba oil near my face, but coconut oil is a BIG no go for me. I also remember you saying coconut oil can clog pores and make acne worse. I've read several reviews and articles on it as well before I purchased it, and many people report to their skin getting worse and breaking out (with picture proof). So I opted out of purchasing it.

      Yea coconut oil is a known comedogenic because of the large molecular structure of the molecules. I will never use it on my entire face. I would stick to Jojoba and Extra Virgin Olive oil

    Just wondering if your parents and brother are vegan as well. If not a video on that would be very helpful. I think that can be the hardest part of making these changes for so many people. Perhaps if you are the parent even harder because like you said it is a personal choice you can't just make everyone do it too especially if you have young adults in your home. It would be so much easier with babies and toddlers but my older kids and husband would be like where's the meat/dairy. I totally agree with you about diet but also wonder how you deal with not "falling off the wagon" when you crave meat and dairy. I totally understand why people go vegan for ethical reasons because that keeps you in check but what about those who don't and are struggling with it. I hope what I'm asking makes sense. I'm so happy for you and excited for this series especially this part! 💕

    Girl 🔥🔥🔥! It's so awesome to hear about acne success that is diet related - so many people are trying to push skin care products and medications and I know treating acne really starts from the inside out for most of us (it was for sure for me). Going raw vegan cleared up my skin too, I had really bad hormonal acne all over my chin - it was like an acne beard. At any time, I used to have 30+ pimples on my face, mostly around that chin area... When I went vegan it cleared up, now I might get one or two on my face, but it's rare and usually if i'm not eating well (fatty junky vegan foods). I'm so glad that diet shift was successful for you as it was for me, hopefully more people try it out because it really makes a difference!!

    This was my favorite video of yours so far. So informative, so intelligent, so emotional, so honest, so real and so true. I have been educating myself more and more on all the same things you are discussing, but I haven’t ever felt so confirmed in all my theories and research till finally hearing you now. All the antibiotic stuff makes complete sense, industries just banking off people continuing to buy their products even when they are actually bad for us and it all causing more and more damage worldwide to where so many of us have these same recurring issues of bloating, acne, fatigue, etc. It is evident that you have knowledge and integrity and you really care. Thank you and funny how you keep saying you accidentally stumbled upon something, well I had nausea and pain keeping me awake tonight and happened to stumble upon your video, so like u said, even bad things happen for a reason and bring you to where you are meant to be. Thanks you again for helping me with my life journey and I hope you continue to thrive and help people on your amazing life journey. :)

    This is the most helpful acne video I have ever seen. Total truth. Wow, I wish you had some more views! I have recently changed my diet too. I don't have really bad acne, just about 7-8 under my cheekbones on both sides of my face. But it's totally hormonal caused by foods. So I bought HUM Daily Cleanse and Omega supplements plus I now have cut out friend food, processed food, and non-organic dairy and meat. I try to eat clean and I still change my sheets and sleeping clothes every week or so. I wash my face with GlamGlow's white-bottled face wash and do masks. I think I have the hardest time drinking water, so it is awesome to know that watermelon and leafy greens is a great way to keep in h20!

    I’ve been waiting for these videos forever! I’m studying beauty therapy and it’s so frustrating not being able to have my own skin under control. As a regular blood donor I went to donate in august but was turned away because my hr was hitting 120. Obviously this high hr had been making my anxiety worse, restless nights. Twice I’ve been told my iron is very low however I’ve always had trouble with my hormones. I overheared the vegan in my class taking about celiacs getting spots on the back of their arms from the gluten being rejected.. something I’ve dealt and picked at since a child. As the gluten is seen as a toxin the body tries to eliminate it through the skin, leading to acne. This alarmed me, I’ve completely cut gluten out of my diet and my skins getting much better and am no longer that bloated but still I feel there is more underlying issues. I’ve been on doxycycline since I was 16, maybe younger.. I’m 20 now and since being treated for my heart rate it’s been revealed that my thyroid is high, this runs in my family and I’ve been booked in for a few weeks now to see a specialist, hopefully I will finally be able to be as happy as you look

I also find I smell better between showers -- especially my feet. My hair stays cleaner between washes, too, and my teeth feel cleaner. Things are so much better that I don't even really miss macaroni and cheese.

    Vegan, gluten free, with meat here and there and a balanced meal has helped my acne. I would eat one type of food in excessive and unbalancing my gut, contributing to my acne. Korean bbq buffets were one of the culprits. Gluten was the #1 culprit. Only washing my face once, juicing celery juice, and good probiotics also helps.

But results so far is reduced active acne, more energy throughout the day and more alertness. I will say it makes my body feel cold because of all the raw foods so my question is how do you keep your body warm through the colder months on this diet?

    Thank you so much Cassandra! I can now truly attest that dairy products, meat from animals that were exposed to antibiotics and even fruits and vegetables sprayed with pesticides and lastly, stress really affects acne. I can truly relate to everything you have said. I am now gradually taking steps that you did and yes! It truly makes a difference! But I am not yet a true RAW VEGAN. I hope that I will become one someday.
    You know, people around me thinks that what I say about dairy products, foods with refined sugar causes acne, thinks that those things are not true and it is just on my mind.Maybe to them, such diet didn't cause them acne, but for me it does. Everyone of us are different and have different skin. Right after watching your video, I felt comforted because I know that there are also people who also believed on things that I believed in. Thank you for being honest to us. Unlike other people, you don' t let yourself be used by companies to endorse/promote there products even though they do not really help acne just for the sake of earning money. Thank you so so much! I cut simple carbs, caffeine, refined sugars, and dairy out of my diet years ago and my acne disappeared in a matter of weeks. The diet aspect of acne prevention was not discussed enough in the medical community ten years ago. It was something I had to learn about in forums and by trial and error. If anyone suffering from acne is curious about diet affecting acne, and has watched these videos, or Daniel Kern’s acne org videos, just know we were there at one point and found relief. So don’t lose hope. Give it a shot!
