The optimum amount of guitars one can own is the current amount owned plus one.

Have been watching T5z demos/reviews for weeks. Even though this video is 5yrs old... it's so well explained and the examples are super natural and authentic (not seemingly tweaked in post). Perfect balance of explaining and playing. Well done SW.

Great demo , with all the relevant tones contained within the instrument.

It's fascinating to directly compare the T5z and the Fender Acoustasonic. I have both and have now come to the conclusion that the T5z far outstrips the Fender.
The Fender uses 10 Fishman 'mods' which are somewhere between a mode and modelling with the facility to blend between any two that are assigned to each of the 5 positions for the blade switch. In principle this sounds great and the mods really can sound amazing - but for me, Fender and Fishman have gone way too far and it's my guess that very few players will ever want more than 3 or 4 mods at the most. That would still give you access to the tones of a small, medium or large-bodied instrument plus the electric side of things. My bet is that it won't be long before a cheaper and less highly spec'd version is produced once the initial rush to buy starts to fade.
Whereas the Fender is essentially an acoustic guitar with the possibility of some electric tones, the T5z takes an opposite approach. (I believe the full-size T5 leans more towards acoustic, but I've never played one of those so can't comment).
The T5z has the facility for acoustic tones using position 1. The onboard EQ allows a huge amount of tone-shaping to give you everything from jingle-jangle through to warm bass jazziness. Settings 2 through to 5 allow you to explore an even wider spectrum of electric tones from clean through traditional jazzy through to rockabilly and beyond. Setting 5 does add a bit more 'oomph' with the use of pickups connected in series but this isn't initially as noticeable as you might imagine.
In the end it comes down to what you want most .... primarily acoustic with some electric or primarily electric with some acoustic? Neither guitar nails either option perfectly, but after spending quite some time with both instruments, for me the T5z is clearly the better and the more versatile. It also sounds good when played unamplified for noodling - which, to be fair, also applies to the Fender.

      Hello fellow guitarist.
Acoustically (unplugged), will the differing woods offered on the T5z bare much difference
      tonally ?

@@robdonell9915 That's a question for Bob via the Taylor mag. Logically, different woods will make a difference. I'm surprised no-one has tried to demo that in an upload. Having now had the T5z for a while (I moved the Acoustasonic on ... it wasn't worth the money nor effort with all those modelled options and was WAY less versatile when shaping your own sound) I have to say that played purely acoustically the T5z is amazing. I also have to say you need a really good acoustic amp to get the most out of setting 1 when plugged in. Many players use two amps with a switch to move from acoustic to electric. I had a 40w MV Mark Little Jazz which gave a good result, but nothing as noticeable as you hear on demos like this one.

I don’t know when they came out, but Godin makes this kind of hybrid, yes cheaper. Looks pretty nice, but of the three I greatly prefer the Taylor. I think it’s gorgeous. I think the Fender is ugly.

Jmo, there should be more discussion about the feel of the guitar , inre the neck especially. It has a less flatter radius and a narrower nut than a typical acoustic. Plus a more Gison-like scale.

Ok. I really want to listen to this guitar and the tones it can create. Of course it’s my speakers or my headphone influence that I can’t change. But what I want to hear is a simple side by side comparison. Play the Chords. A-G. Play the A wait and then switch it to next position and on and on. That’s the only way someone can really judge if they want to actually go test one in person. Can this be done? No special amp. Simple clean clean.

Is this color and model played in video available left handed. I see Tobacco burst and blue jean blue and white but I prefer the color in this demo. Thanks

At about the 4:00 mark, how much of this reverb is the amp and/or pedals, and how much is the natural resonance with the guitar? It’s tough to tell

After looking for an electric guitar I ordered a T5z and am considering a Boss Acoustic Singer Pro amp. Has anyone produced a demo with these two paired together?

All five positions are pretty meager facsimiles of their intended tones.
