This video has been a huge help for me as all 8 shocks on my big rock crew cab and typhon 3s blx have dumped all their oil. I ordered the kits to rebuild all 8 shocks, also bought silicone grease and a pick set for o-rings. Last night I did the 4 shocks on the big rock and took it out for a test run this morning. I have to say it went really easily having watched your guide many times beforehand and having it on the TV while doing the first shock. Unfortunately my local hobby shop ran out of rebuild kits (what a surprise) so I'm waiting on them to be able to service the typhon but I'm feeling so much happier about doing this job now although there was much less bloodshed when I did mine - hope that doesn't mean I've done it wrong ;}
Thanks for video after I watched ran down to Harbor Freight tools and bought the Viton 180 pc o-ring assortment and rebuilt my shocks this evening went flawlessly!
New to hobby. Super easy video. Have 2 3s arrmas that we got this year and I haven’t serviced anything yet. That’s my plan this winter. Thanks for doing these videos even tho it’s yrs old lol
I bent the piston toot much to unscrew the end cap or to straighten the piston without damaging anything. I used a bent pair of needle nose pliers to get the end cap off. Worked really well.
Pretty comprehensive how-to. I believe the problem with the O-rings leaking has more to do with the material they are made from than anything else. Arrma seems to have realized this too as now they offer a silicone kit to replace the inadequate rubber O-rings. Part # ARA330022. Even if they hadn't I'd still recommend silicone over rubber. Alternatively the plastic wrench included with the truck has the adapter to remove the shock caps as well. I actually picked up some aluminum shocks and plan on running them off road. However I also plan to repurpose the original shocks by adding an internal spacer to shorten their stroke. This should work well for short course and on pavement running.
awesome video very clear ive actually just used this video to strip and rebuild my own shocks so thankyou :) also for anyone struggling to get the inner o ring out and the spacer inside the shock (i didnt have a pick) using a really small flat head screw deriver and pushing on an angle from the other side did the trick for me
Was just about to order brand new shocks since I saw two of them were leaking. Just watched this video and ordered the shock oil and rebuild kit instead! Now to try my luck doing exactly what you did lol thank you for the detailed video! It seems like every single time i drive my granite something breaks recently. D
@@gonzodetroitify so they have held up well as in the haven’t been leaking (or at least not nearly as much) but bent one of the shafts so I’ll have to rebuild another one anyway. I swear anytime I drive the thing something breaks. I have to replace two drive shafts that keep popping out now.
Molto importante questo video grazie per il tuo tutorial..sto per acquistare un un'arrma granite e mi ha fatto piacere vedere come si fa il riempimento degl ammortizzatori
Thanks 👍 all 4 shock leaks on my granite blx ... I ordered aluminum shocks, but it will take some time to come...so I would like to know how long the restored shocks can last?
The blood adds +5mph. It's a known fact. Nice tutorial though ! I took a set of these off a outcast 4s and was scratching my head at how they are put together !
I have a Vorteks and one of my shock shafts snapped at the shock end. I have a new shaft and new end piece but can't get the shaft in. How does it go in?!
Hey, my shock collar (the ring thing to tighten loosen it) is jammed, I really don’t want to damage it and I can’t figure out how to unjam it without damaging it, any help would be a real help, thansk
hello, good video. Thank you. I have rebuilt mine 2 times and they start leaking withing several runs. they are just a bad design and leak. is there an upgrade or after market shock options ?
Really good video. Do most other brands come apart the same way or are they all different? How do I know what wt shock oil to pick for a backyard basher that does some jumps? Thanks
Awesome rebuild video! 👍👍 I actually went with the same oil weight 42.5 😂 It is working well, I like it better than stock. I also thought the design was very cool and great for beginners, or lazy people like me 😂
Thanks for this video! Wondering if it's okay to mix shock oils of different viscosities? Thinking about just topping off my shock oil but only have some slightly heavier oil on hand, would that cause problems?
Hey, appreciate your channel. I recently noticed that my big rock started doing chassis slap a lot easier. Is there a point of me changing the oil only and not doing the rebuild ? Will that help or a rebuild is necessary in my case ? Thank you in advance.
3 of my 4s shocks failed out of the box.. can find my dam recipt.. super pissed about it.. are they worth rebuilding ? or should i buy some hot racing replacements ?
I've seen some good information. my typhos 3s pure shocks do The oil ran out. The oil fell out. How about using shocks without oil? I want to buy metal shocks now. Better than replacing the pure rubber ring, right?
Hi bud, very helpful video thank you.. Could you either tell me the size of the orings you used for replacements or send me a link. All the best and happy rcing 👍
Great vid, very helpful! Are u still running the stock shocks? I mainly do ramp tricks with mine and looking for some shocks that are more stiff to hopefully eliminate the chassis slap on landings. I’ve tried adding a bunch of preload spacers but still bottom out on landings. Any other shock options you would suggest that would fit this rig?
Awesome video! What did you use to clean the outside of the shock? Thanks! I need to do this since all 4 of my shocks are leaking. I bought my arrma about 2 months ago, so I'm not really sure if warranty covers this.
Nanoman thanks. I use diluted simple green and a toothbrush to clean them. Arrma also updated the o-rings to seal a little better, so make sure you get a fresh pack when rebuilding.
@@RazorRC Awesome. I might try to get these under warranty since I bought the truck on July 20th of this year. I was going to use soap and water to clean them honestly. Horizon Hobby service told me to refill them first and see what happens? 🤔 Edit : screw it. I went to get my proof of purchase and sent Horizon a picture of my leaky shocks. Let's see what happens. I already ordered everything needed to rebuild them anyways. I'll have to do it myself eventually.
Honestly thank you very much for your content....you wouldn't believe the hours and stress youv'e saved me.
Awesome, thanks for sharing, that means a lot to me, that's what the channel is all about!
This is prolly the best of the Arrma rc DIY repair channels on UA-cam. Thorough and detailed but with brevity. Great video

What size are the o rings? And for 4S?
That is really a brilliantly designed shock. I never knew they were like that. Thanks!
John Wagner yeah they did a really good job!
Awesome! Thanks for making this, as one of my Granite 4x4 shocks is leaking and I need to do this service.
I just got a fairly new Senton, and one of the shocks was leaking. This helped out a ton, thank you.

Glad they improved this shock design with the Vorteks 3S!

Sal Esposito great post! Agree with you on the O-rings.
Thanks for this. I just picked up a big rock for my son. I wanted to check and top up the shocks but couldn't figure out how to disassemble them!
Brilliant video helped me get the shock apart to straighten out a bent shaft. Thank you
Great video thank you kindly. You saved me a bunch of time figuring out how to open the shock 👌
Helped out a lot for my first time rebuilding a shock. Thank you.
Glad it helped

dropped you a like and sub aswell
Thanks, my shock strut was bent and I managed to straighten it after watching your video.
Same, this video was extremely helpful
Great video Razor! I'm looking to pick up the new Typhon 3s buggy in the next few weeks. This video will come in handy.
Exactly what I was looking for, many thanks
That video was a great help in me 1st time rebuilding by shocks. Thank you so much!

Hi I can not get the red plastic screw but if at start tried mole grips etc no luck
Awesome. I'll take a look at this when it's time to do this.
Been trying to figure out why my front granite shocks were leaking. Didn't know that black part had the O rings in it. Thanks

Water Islife same mate did you ever fix the leaking standard shocks?
Hope the updated ones seal better with the new o rings ..If not HR makes the upgraded bodies
Nibbles!! Lol..It's a key way brother! Lol
One leaked straight from the box for me, I wouldn’t waste any money on O-rings for them to go bad the following week.
YES! I was just about to search this up. Good video.👊😎👍
Great info bro, very good details on how to n its gonna help a ton of people
U put ur blood, sweat, n tears into this vid LOL

sure, you can mix, it should be fine
About to pick up some big bore shocks what would be a good weight to run in those shocks?
Think they will leak again like they do straight out of the box? Should ai upgrade or rebuild?
when I put the piston in all the oil comes out can you advise??
Hey, appreciate your channel. I recently noticed that my big rock started doing chassis slap a lot easier. Is there a point of me changing the oil only and not doing the rebuild ? Will that help or a rebuild is necessary in my case ? Thank you in advance.
thanks. no need to rebuild unless it's leaking oil.
did you say the thumb wrench was 5.5 or 5mm? thanks
Awesome video, i need to do this to my front shocks on my typhon 3s, where did you get the O ring kit from? Cheers.
3 of my 4s shocks failed out of the box.. can find my dam recipt.. super pissed about it.. are they worth rebuilding ? or should i buy some hot racing replacements ?
Good info thanks for taking time but they leak from new so bit pointless rebuilding something that will leak again on first run
Great, thank you for posting!
Any tips on where I can find springs that fit the Arrma 4x4 BLX 3S shocks?
I've seen some good information.
my typhos 3s pure shocks do
The oil ran out. The oil fell out.
How about using shocks without oil?
I want to buy metal shocks now.
Better than replacing the pure rubber ring, right?
What is the interval for rebuild? Like every 6 months?
Hey brother. Can you make a video about how to rebuild the shocks on the 6s rigs? Thanks!
Excellent ..thank you I followed this to renew my shock oil 👍👍
Thanks for the info.
Awesome info and build I really needed this, new stuff coming to my channel, thanks again brother.
Great video! Thanks for sharing this video! Easy to follow information video
Great thorough video! Thanks!
Really helpful how-to, thank you!
do you know the o-ring size?
great video !
No, sorry.
7,8mm x 2,2 mm is the o-ring
Arrma part #AR330451
...
2 x O-Ring 8 x 1.5mm
4 x O-Ring 2.6 x 2mm
(for two shocks)
006 size
Where did you get the 5 mm tool?
Did you have any leaking issues before and after the rebuild?
Nice vid. Any idea how long the o rings tend to last?
Thanks! Just what I needed.
Life saver how to!!! Thanks brother!!
Jeff M 👍👊💪
Great vid.
Do u know what oil weight is in the stock 4s shocks?? 👍
You got a part number on oring set
Hi do you have part numbers for the seals please
Would you recommend when just wanting to change the shock fluid to rebuild it even if it's not leaking
Reggie Coursey nah, just rebuild them when they leak
@@RazorRC I was wanting to go with a little thicker weight to help with the big jumps that I've been taking it just seems a little soft up front
Hey what do I do, my shocks are really tight and the little notches don’t want to unscrew anything. It’s stuck
RBL Vlogs you can stick a hex driver in the top eyelet to help you turn it like I do at the beginning of the video
Will 1 bottle of shock oil fill all 4 shocks?
yes
Thanks for the info....just fix the shocks on the Typhon 3s 🏎👍🏾
Yes great video helped me for sure

Cool video brother, just subscribed.
I find this oddly satisfying
Probably better to assemble the o-ring cartridge on the shaft instead of pre-assembling the whole thing then jamming the threaded shaft through.
Legend.
This really helped thanks 😊
Where can I get these tools from.
I just updated the description with links
But did the blood self bleed out?
